Summary:
In 1992 a new organisation was founded to finally get rid of Godzilla: the United Nations Godzilla Counter Measure Center (UNGC). This organisation creates a cybernetic head of Mechagodzilla. They wanna create a complete mechanical Mechagodzilla, armed with strong laserrays and a special defend shield. At the same time a prehistoric egg is discovered on the isle Adonoa. To get more information, it shall be brought to Kyoto. But the expedition is not able to leave the island: Rodan attacks the ship. Suddenly Godzilla reappears. The both giants battle against each other, the scientist are able to run away with the egg. Arriving in Kyoto, suddenly something slips out of the egg: Godzillasaurus, Godzillas son. But also Godzilla is on the way to Kyoto and is looking for his boy. The now complete Mechagodzilla heads against them and Godzilla has big problems with his strong opponent. But heīs able to defeat the new Mecha and goes away to find his son. But his sonīs hidden under the earth and Godzilla disapperas into the sea. Rodan now flies over Kyoto and lays a path of destruction. He steals Baby Godzilla, but is stopped by the reconstructed Mechagodzilla. Now Godzilla arrives by registrating the screaming of his son and attacks Mecha. A really cool and long battle starts and Mecha now has better cards and is victorious over Godzilla. But Rodan gets Godzilla under his wings, bringing him back life and power. Godzilla now has lots of new power and also sucks the energy of Mechagodzilla. Mecha is defeated and Godzilla returns into the sea with his son!
My Opinion:
Jepp, here it is, the best Godzilla film ever made! Itīs much better than all of the series before. I really liked Mechagodzilla in his earlier films, but now heīs much better designed and scarier than ever before: good work Toho!
He seems to be more powerful and evil. The only weaken of the film in my opinion is the strange energy transfer from Rodan to Godzilla.
I really donīt know, why Rodan should do that. But who cares. The father/son-theme is nice as always and seems to be credible. This film would have been a good ending to the series, perhaps with Godzilla dying in the end.
But Toho had other plans, and the other two films are cool, too. In my opinion they donīt reach the quality and intensity than this one here. I think itīs THE Godzilla film!
