Not very long ago at all, the very idea that the ancient city of Troy might have been anything
more than a fictional creation (of Greek author and philosopher Homer) was considered to be ludicrous by most reputable historians.
But today we know from archeological digs on the eastern shores of the Aegean Sea, in Turkey, that the chief rival of Athens
was in fact a thriving, heavilly populated, seaside settlement during the Bronze Age ~ and did war with Greece on many occasions !
Today, Egyptologists still refuse even to look into the possiblity that the Pyramids may be much older than the "established" 5000 years or so,
even though we now know them to have been constructed with a skill unparalled in our time (the evidence is the definition of irrefutable).
Perfect astronomical, mathematical and geometrical alignments, a metal door many meters up a newly discovered internal shaft,
and that the sphinx displays erosion consistent with thousands of years of regular rainfall (even though Giza has been a desert for 9000 years),
all point to the inescapable conclusion that Giza, like many other sites worldwide, was most likely built by a group of people so advanced
that there is no reason to believe that planet Earth, or even this star system, was their home, or even origin. "Pure fantasy," most scientists say !
The truth is that we are just beginning to develop into a self sufficient society (in theory, capable of feeding and sheltering the population),
and we don't know all there is to know about our own ancient history, and probably never will, until we begin to accept the possiblity that "evolution"
on this planet is not necessarilly linear ~ and that a technologically superior culture may have existed long ago, of which we are their distant descandants !
