Memo to self - don't type up links in the library. :) Or at least make sure brain is engaged.

It is through our own personal thoughts, words and deeds that you and I choose, and create, the global changes that will occur, and the future that we will experience. "

Why? Yes, any question which has "Why" as it's first word is essentially unanswerable since whatever reply is received, one can still ask "Well, why is that so?" :) I used to infuriate my religious teachers by asking things like "Why does God exist?" ... :)

Carol, thanks for the Thaddeus Golas. I love the title, "Lazy Person's Guide to Enlightenment"

I'm in the library as I read th Forum but I found a site with a bit more info on < a href="http://kkeys.home.texas.net/~kkeys/spirit/create/golas.html">Thaddeus Golas. Enjoy.

Chris, I clicked on your "water" link and got an error message. May just be this computer ... who knows ...

Greetings. A single rose from the heart of central Texas sends forth this question for the great minds to ponder... When we know all the answers, why are we still asking questions? Why does our mind still ask why?

Phoenix, you are most welcome. After I had lost someone dear to me, I could see little signs of him everywhere. Sometimes these came from the most unexpected sources and they were always a comfort. Pax...

Chris, really enjoyed the water posts. I didn't realise water was so weird. Thanks. As that german soldier on the Roan and Martin Laugh-in used to say, "very in-te-rest-ing, but stupid."

That's showing my age.

William Peter - I hope you are still checking in here. You didn't leave an e-mail address, and there's very little chance anyone will send mail to your street address.

To learn how to meditate, check out Deepak's web site at http://www.chopra.com/coursePSM.htm. There is even a link to find instructors in your area.

I recently rediscovered the "Lazy Person's Guide to Enlightenment" by Thaddeus Golas. Since the book is out of print and difficult to obtain, I thought you would enjoy the summary below:

Lazy Person's Guide to Enlightenment
Thaddeus Golas.

We are equal beings and the universe is our relations with each other.

What am I doing on a level of consciousness where this is real?

No resistance.

Love it the way it is.

Love as much as you can from wherever you are.

Whether I am conscious of it or not, I am one with the cause of all that exists.

Whether I feel it or not, I am one with all the love in the universe.

Love is the only dimension that needs to be changed.

Go beyond reason to love: it is safe. It is the only safety.

All states of consciousness are available right now.

It's always within us to relate this way.

Enlightenment doesn't care how you get there.

Whatever you are doing, love yourself for doing it.

There is nothing you need to do first in order to be enlightened.

This, too, can be experienced with a completely expanded awareness.

I wouldn't deny this experience to the One Mind.

What did you think it was that needed to be loved?

When you learn to love hell, you will be in heaven.

Thank you, brothers and sisters, for letting my consciousness be in this place.

Love,
Deepak

13th July 2000 To: Mr Deepak Chopra Dear Sir, We are MediaManager, a multimedia platform and content provider. And we are in the process of acquiring and licensing videos and CD-Roms for our educational portal, Educast, on the net. We wish to know whether we could incorporate some of your videos on personal development on our portal. If so, can you tell us what your requirements are. Here is a brief idea of what our aims and objectives are: Educast is an interactive video-on-demand service, funded by IDA, the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore http://www.ida.gov.sg. Our aim is to create a virtual educational community in the Asia-Pacific region, using Singapore as a starting point, as most SEA countries look to us for IT initiatives. Educast has two sites: a public site and a private site. The public site aims to provide web-based training for companies in the region. When we have built up a critical mass of content, it will become subscription-based. The private site is for secondary schools and will be subscription-based from the start. Both sites are at the concept-incubation stage and we aim to roll out Phase 1 in Aug 2000. We have spoken to schools and they have expressed the need for a resource library of videos. As such, we are very keen to work with renowned authors and publishers like you to fulfill this need. I shall appreciate very much if you could reply at your earliest convenience. Thank you very much. Best regards, B PEREIRA Senior Content Development Executive, Mediamanager

Can't find the link itself, but here's some of the stuff I have on my hard-drive:

Strong evidence for a designer comes from the fine-tuning of the universal constants and the solar system, e.g.

* The electromagnetic coupling constant binds electrons to protons in atoms. If it was smaller, fewer electrons could be held. If it was larger, electrons would be held too tightly to bond with other atoms

* Ratio of electron to proton mass (1:1836). Again, if this was larger or smaller, molecules could not form.

* Carbon and oxygen nuclei have finely tuned energy levels.

* Electromagnetic and gravitational forces are finely tuned, so the right kind of star can be stable.

* Our sun is the right colour. If it was redder or bluer, photosynthetic response would be weaker.

* Our sun is also the right mass. If it was larger, its brightness would change too quickly and there would be too much high energy radiation. If it was smaller, the range of planetary distances able to support life would be too narrow; the right distance would be so close to the star that tidal forces would disrupt the planet's rotational period. UV radiation would also be inadequate for photosynthesis.

* The earth's distance from the sun is crucial for a stable water cycle. Too far away, and most water would freeze; too close and most water would boil.

* The earth's gravity; axial tilt; rotation period; magnetic field; crust thickness; oxygen/nitrogen ratio; carbon dioxide, water vapour and ozone levels are just right..

Former atheist Sir Fred Hoyle states: 'commonsense interpretation of the facts is that a super-intelligence has monkeyed with physics, as well as chemistry and biology, and that there are no blind forces in nature.'

BTW, though I prefer the top fish, I often feel like the bottom fish. :) Swimming one way then the other and wishing I knew what was outside the fichbowl. :)
