A spinning prayer wheel

Continuing yesterday's stuff ... where was that article about the futility of criticism ... was it Lama Yeshe or Zopa?? ...

Today's mantra: "Throw everything out. The mind thinks, always, in terms of words. Gibberish helps to break up this pattern of continual verbalisation. Without suppressing your thoughts, you can throw them out - in Gibberish."

Some of yesterday's meanderings reminded me of this old cartoon ...

While off-line ... had a bit of a hunt for Zopa links ... such as this one ...

... or perhaps here ... or maybe this ... {may need to check them online whenever that happens next ... :)

Hmmm ... a dud link or two ... try this search ...

Then I made another search without zopa being among the words selected ... click

... which leads us to today's quote: "Each of us is unique, but none of us is unique in being unique."

April 17, 2003   '

Finally ... here's that Zopa article I was huntin for ...

Opened my very own blog ... click here

Found that Einstein quote along with several others ... click

It's Good Friday but some stores open - a massive booksale here in Dandenong so I pop along ... and purchased 5 books but many more caught my eye ... like the Office pranks section in a Dilbert book called 'The Joy of Work' :)

... plus one by a Ciaran Regan (I think tha's the spelling) - about psychiatric meds and the way they are used/abused ... plus one author with a surname of Yogendra, I think ...

Here's a little seacrh ... the book was called 'Intoxicating Minds' ...

And the search for Yogendra couldn't locate what I had in mind but did turn up this interesting page ...

Here's the young poet whose book I purchased

Stanislaw Lem is also one of the books I grabbed - called 'His master's voice' ... interesting blurb on the back but they're hardly likely to write 'This book is very forgettable. Don't bother buying it.' are they ...

I also decided 2 add some links to the bottom of this page :)

Interesting quote - click

... also something about a therapist ... but the written word can only convey so much of a performance :)

Ah ... Stanislaw wrote Solaris which has been remade recently ... hmmm

The illustrations on his books are also memorable ... click

For what it's worth, here's the cover of the one I got - scroll down to the one for 1990 by Mandarin

Quote of the day: click

April 20, 2003   '

Just started reading the Stanislaw Lem book & am enjoying it.

As always - or nearly always, I've tapped out a few excerpts and shot them off into cyberspace. The plot has some similarities to that movie 'Contact' with Jodie Foster, which I also enjoyed.

Anyway, click here to read the brief excerpts so far. I may add to them if I get around 2 it.

Speaking of movies & scifi, have you seen the preview of the next matrix movie? I saw a two minute 'trailer' the other day and it looks quite something. Apparently the visual effects are the reason it has taken so long for the sequel to be released. They wanted to come up with effects never seen before. Can't wait to see it on the BIG screen. Apparently, it comes out in mid-May, which is fast approachin ...

Speaking of the matrix movies, here's another fun site - click here

www.artpassions.net

Hmmm ... that matrix v site ... 'How are peace-marchers actually feeding the darkside' ... hmmm ... wouldn't mind gettin my hands on the actual book ...

Happy Eater to all my readers

Oops, I meant Easter ... :)

Glorious spell of autumn weather forecast 4 this week ... must get up into those hills once the buses resume ...

Not too sure if this will work ... click {it may well work for a couple of weeks or so??}

April 21, 2003   '

More added to the Stanislaw excerpts ... as I sat on trains to & from the aquarium ... he definitely gets added to my highly recommended lists ... very clever with words & ideas & metaphor ... well worth the effort seeking his books out ... in case you don't feel like searchin my past entries 4 the excerpts - click here :)

Saw some excellent pavement art as I walked along the Yarra ... apparently it is called screeving ... and a website address I couldn't quite make out ...

Looking over still more old links & stuff ... comes today's thought:

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory that states that this has already happened.
