Must rememer to send birthday email cards ... :)
Hmmm ... interesting 'compatibility' page -
Aquarius ... :)
From yesterday's meanderings ... I found this site -
I awake ... and just 2 years ago I would have scoffed so hard at something like this ... hmmm ...
Plus this aromatherapy tip -
here
Yesterday's tongue-in-cheek stuff does raise those age-old questions - especially when your experiences and thought 'patterns' have been as chaotic and quixotic as mine have been ... are we our thoughts? ... are we our experiences? are we our thoughts about our experiences ... or are we something else entirely ... a 'something else' we may glimpse ... which is the real 'me' ... the one who experiences what he experiences or the one who observes the one who experiences ... anyone confused? ... join the club ...
I went into the Bookshelf software to look up the meaning of a word and found myself looking at a few quotes from Byron - speaking of a man of many moods! - hmmm ... he says some interesting things about a whole spectrum of aspects of the human condition ... absurdity ... death ... chaos ... embarassment ... freedom ... indulgence ... hope ... poetry ... on diaries, he says 'This journal is a relief. When I am tired . . . out comes this, and down goes every thing. But I can't read it over— and God knows what contradictions it may contain. If I am sincere with myself (but I fear one lies more to one's self than to any one else) every page should confute, refute, and utterly abjure its predecessor.' ... hmmm ... :)
Lord Byron Page
Plus a few more thoughts while out walking the dog ... about how we each contribute to the tension in the world - as LONG as we INDULGE in the ancient human customs of blaming, complaining, criticising, condemning etc ... and while 'everybody's doing it' it DOES require a CONSCIOUS descision to choose forgiveness & gratitude & equanimity in place of the other habits ... hmmm ...
Random quotes -
here - quite a variety of collections - cynical, women, ancient, etc ... pity Dave's no longer around he'd like it ...
... I found that from the links page at the
Be more creative site ... more than I have had a chance to check out just yet ... everything from Sci-Fi to movies and science and
Oh, I didn't paste that quote in ... from (Margaret) Millar about most conversations being basically monologues delivered in the presence of witnesses ... :) ... I gather it came from the 'cynical quotes' collection - well, that site does have an author search facility ... yes, one of those 'Aha!' quote where you wish you had said it ... :)
Posted a few 'random' quotes to the forum ... Hawking, Margaret Millar, Oscar Wilde, Dan Quayle et. al ...
Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain - and most fools do.

Then went back and posted 57,994 ... about how you select from all the billions of words and millions of books and synthesise your own viewpoint ... and trial and error ... and given sufficient number of lifetimes ... :)

Been re-reading some of my 'old' stuff and honestly, it IS true - much of it I have no direct recollection of writing it ... I would have made an excellent politician ... :) ...

Visited the Starbuilders site (yet another bunch of 'stuff' I would have absoltuely laughed at two years ago and called for them to be locked up!) ... should post some of their

for the forum crowd ... you are a devil ... :)
... edition # 48 has a section 'The voice in your head' ... hmmm ... plus advertising some CD's that would get the Skep Dicks howling - 'If you listen to it and you don't have a definite shift in consciousness, we'll refund your money.' ... well, that's fair enough. Though in the 'bad old days' I used to mock those who'd say, if you received no 'answer' then you were'nt sincere enough ... it used to infuriate me ... so I understand perfectly where the cynics are comin from ...

Interesting site with all kinds of proverbs ... still aint found the exact 'walk a mile' proverb ...
here
... should email it to ... hmmm ... JUST noticed the word 'proverb' contains 'prove' and 'verb' ... hmmm ...
and one of the links on that proverb site is to the mandala project - some fabulous art - to be made into quilts? ...
here ...
One of the proverbs is quite apt (as MOST are): 'It is not the knowing that is difficult, but the doing.'
A few more passing thoughts ...
I enjoy reading deepak's words - something inside me responds to them. Now, if somebody says that I 'shouldn't', then I might respond to that in any number of ways. I might laugh. I might pray for them. I might gently point out that if you spend your days on this planet filling your head with all manner of notions about what your fellow beings 'should' or 'should not' do then you will cause yourself a lot of grief. If you carry those notions a little further (as is almost inevitable) into the area of condemning or criticisng the tatse or choices of your fellow beings then you will cause yourself a little more grief. This is the way of things. Eventually, each soul causes itself sufficient grief until one day it wakes up and says, "Hey, that's really very silly of me to keep doing that to myself. I might just see if I can find something better to focus my attention and energy on."
That day could be today. :)
From that starbuilders article - it mentions my other favourite languge - gobbledygook. 'If a channeled entity speaks with you in an inspired but alien tongue, you will not know what he is talking about. You will have the same problem with gobbledygook.' ... it's quite an interesting read ...
Among those quotes sites ... one by Voltaire about God being a comedian playing to an audience that is afraid to laugh ...
Today's mantra: "Most people take their sanity entirely for granted. They never suspect that there are experiences which rise well beyond the confines of normality."

A funny version of that proverb - 'Before you criticise a man, walk a mile in his moccasins. By then, you'll be a mile away from him and you'll have his shoes.' :)
From the Bookshelf software again - a few statements about surrealism ...
'To be a surrealist . . . means barring from your mind all remembrance of what you have seen, and being always on the lookout for what has never been.'
- René Magritte (surrealist painter)
The Magritte Site - has a virtual tour of his paintings ... ah, but sadly, it seems their permission to exhibit his works has expired ... damn copyright laws ...

Added a new quote to Buddhist Quote of the Moment which seemed quite apt ... scroll down to 'That turned out to be a big mistake' ... :)
A few more {idle} thoughts ... while people are basically being ruled by the ego, almost nobody is going to take kindly to the suggestion that their misconceptions about love are precisely what has made the world the way it is ... and how can you really hope to alter that in enough people ... one of the BIG features of th ego is its endless capacity to blame others ... :( ...

From yesterday's reading of the
Hercules material - it really resonates with me - many sections - expecially the impulsivesness! ... and this: 'One of the first lessons that every beginner has to learn is the tremendous power that he mentally wields, and the amount of harm that he can cause in his neighborhood and environment through the brood mares of his mind. He has, therefore, to learn the right use of his mind, and the first thing that he has to do is capture this feminine aspect of the mind and see to it that no more war horses are bred.' ... very similar to the idea of inner disarmament from the Daily Lama ... hmmm ...
Yes ... I never cease to be amazed at HOW many ways there seem to be of saying 'basically the same thing' and using words to paint a picture of the way things are ... and yet it is JUST a picture ... hmmm ...

A request at the forum led me to this site - www.100thmonkey.com
A few other sites from that search for '100th monkey' -
here - I like the lighshift site ... but in my present mood I'd say Baa Baa Black Sheep has mystical significance ... :)
And I'm starting to use Google more frequently as a search tool ...
Shakespearian sonnet which has that phrase 'love is not love' ... one could add a few more aspects to that but it aint bad ... :)

Today's mantra: "I used to glow in the dark like a silent army."
Those searches for hundredth monkey led me to a site quite reminiscent of DeoxyRibonucleic HyperDimension ... called Fusion Anomaly ... checkout the page called 'entities' ... :)
... at that site, some stuff by Buckminster Fuller ... about God & people and the general 'acceptance' of an idea ... one of his works is called 'No More Secondhand God' ...

Today's mantra: "Normality will soon become an obsolete experience."
In a very playful mood (see the posts to both forums) ... then this ...
And God said unto Moses, "Do whatever you like. I don't really mind. It's no skin off my nose. Whatever gets you through the night. Do whatever turns you on. It's entirely up to you."

So God said, "As you wish."

Testing the font color ...
Seeing as how today is the first Monday of the month, there's a bonus mantra - "My doctor wanders around trying to manipulate his own lifetime."
{As you might have surmised ... I am absolutely flying at the moment}
Then again one could say Krishnamurti's statements are still ideas or beliefs ... in saying his way is the 'best' way and that other ways don't get you to the same 'place' ...
... yet it does bring up some of my old favourites ... cotemplating what is memory ... and as a physical being it is 'essential' ... but it CAN tie you up in knots ... :) ... and those posts a while back about

Seeing as how you've been relatively good lately, here's an extra special bonus mantra (at no extra charge): "I exist within a reality I can never hope to understand. I spend my days and hours silently counting all the bones in my left hand." ...
"You need to let go of all your opinions and beliefs and thoughts and judgements if you ever wish to experience ultimate reality. So far, relatively few people have been ready, willing and managed to do this."
Also received the latest
Beacons of Light in my email ... their on-line book has a recommendation by James Twyman amongst many other familiar names ... and the theme kind of ties in with the 100th monkey story ...
... this bit caught my eye - "We can tell you the secrets of the Universe and yet it would be nothing more than words on paper until you take those secrets and use them in your daily life. Can you now see that you hold power that even we do not? We do not ask you to follow us or to look to us for the answers you seek ... "
Resistance is futile ... also info on borg and '7 of 9' etc ... they have had some intrstin plots you know ...
... sent Moses as 58035 ... I'm sure it will be taken in the right spirit ... and if perchance it isn't ... then it's a wonderful opportunity for somebody ... to let go ...
... then considered posting this as well (while sitting watching Judge Judy) ...
"Ideas which reinforce themselves sometimes become the fabric of reality. At such times, the average human being may become confused and irritated. This is the way of things. The only viable solution is to continue breathing and see what transpires." - Anon

I re-visited some of my 'old' links pages - I had forgotten about a few of the gems therin ... such as
Transformation at a site called 'Divide by zero' ... isn't that the deifinition of a black-hole? ... somewhere that God divided by zero ...
... that piece explores the question 'what is the true nature of the human being?' ... simple enough question but awfully tough to answer using tools as limited as words ...
Todays mantra: "Always remember, there are no dead-ends and there is no such thing as wasting time since time itself is not real."
A few more ideas for Murmur - must email them to ask closing date ... & New Paradigm ... though as with a LOT of the stuff I write - (a) I can only speak from my own experiences & from what i have gathered they are rather atypical (b) Since few currently share this particular perspective it does tend to be dismissed as delusional or simply mistaken ... I can live with that ... :) ... anyway ... check out ...

Interesting article in PC Update - about internet & censorship & kids & parents ... may transcribe ...
All these Krishnamurti posts got me curious. So, I plugged 'Krishnamurti' into my trusty search injun and found there is a U.G. Krishnamurti ...
"If you have the courage to touch life for the first time, you will never know what hit you. Everything man has thought, felt and experienced is gone, and nothing is put in its place."
"My teaching, if that is the word you want to use, has no copyright. You are free to reproduce, distribute, interpret, misinterpret, distort, garble, do what you like, even claim authorship, without my consent or the permission of anybody."
Now that's my kind of 'teaching'!

Here's a sample of the stuff I was talking about earlier - as usual, most of it was written on the way to and from the shops as I walked along ...
"I never know what my consciousness is going to be doing from one moment to the next. It's almost as if it has a mind of its own. This means that leading a normal life is out of the question. I'm eternally grateful"
{This particular mantra is the result of ten year's of exhaustive investigation and telepathic interaction with the bees in my backyard. They urged me to share it with anyone who is even vaguely open to fresh ideas and new perspectives on this thing we call reality. Enjoy.}
... and my own quirky explanation of mantras and what resonates with my individual consciousness ... and experiementing ... and the risk of being diagnosed if your experimentations deviate sufficiently from the claustrophobic confines of so-called 'normal' consciousness, you might just find yourself being diagnosed. If this does happen to you, bear in mind the words of Jesus on the Cross - "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." ...
Added quite a bit more to that aforementioned file (wingdings - murmur) ... after latest installment of my involvement with the schizophrenia research project ... hmmm ... yes, there just would not be MANY people like me involved with the 'system' as it is ... if you had even the vaguest inkling that there is WAY more to this experience than the 'conventional wisdom' would have you believe ...
... plus reliving my own experiences ... especially the effects of haloperidol which are absolutely indescribable ... hmmm ...
... Plus shaman & cultural interpretations of various experiences ... :)
... many of the question assumed quite a BIT about 'reality' & human experience ... asssumptions which are probably not challenged except by individuals such as me ... :)
Also realised that in MOST fonts the lower case 'L' and the number 'one' look almost indistinguishable ... so html could be seem as htm with a 'one' tacked on the end ... oh well ... so I had to create two files which link to my home page 'just in case' ... naturally this is NOT a problem if you click on a link ... only when you see a web address written down ... hmmm ...
Testing the font colour ...
... so I do a search of the phrase 'alternative views on the experience of schizophrenia' ... :)
This page has quite a few relevant sites - like 'Mystical Experience and Schizophrenia' ...
... should add them to this list of 'intersting mental health sites' ...
As usual, it rather energised me ... so today's (bonus) mantra is as follows -
"What about the people living in their own vertical worlds. What about all the people living in the horizontal and vertical worlds of thought. What about the people who live in glass houses. Where do they hide their apples."
[

Today's mantra: "In case you were wondering, reality is over here. In case you weren't listening, the edge of space is near."
A few more thoughts after yesterday's topics ... yes, obviously ... the people who do 'all the normal things' tend to get better at doing them ... just as those whose consciousness is hardly ever in the territory called 'normal' ... :)
... not that there's anything wrong with staying 'basically normal' ... just so long as it's not made compulsory ...
Oh yes, I also scribbled down a poem yesterday - and then I had the idea of using screen capture to show it with the correct fonts & colours and 'layout' ... here's a rough idea of what I mean -
... Now IF I had access to a scanner ... I could show you the original scribbles - which often convey the 'sense' of the poem better ...
... hmmm ... the capturing and cropping seems to 'smudge' the image slightly ... which may be just as well ...
Here's tomorrow's mantra one day earlier than expected -
"The person who has experienced ultimate reality will sound crazy to those who have yet to encounter the experience."
Actually, that image above reminds me somewhat of those magnetic poetry boards on the internet - ah, could one use the screen capture ... I wonder ...
click ...
From yesterday's musings ...
Yes, to my mind anwyway, it's actually an entirely plausible explanation for many human experiences ... telepathic communication (either with or without consent) with advanced extra-terrestrials ...
(Ah, that's the analogy I failed to mention yesterday - channeling! by 'letting go' of your own consciousness it opens the possiblitity for you to tune into some disembodied entity's consciousness - and YES, 2 years ago I would have said that's nuts :)
* They'd most likely tend to pick 'misfits' to communicate with as their time and mind are more open ??
... and yet, if not entirely ready for the experience or able to assimilate it ... you could go around the bend ...
* Of course, even if their intent is benevolent, the result may not be {are we talking about aliens now or psychiatrists?
}
* It's as good an explanation as any other for experiences like schizophrenia - I mean does anyone truly believe this is merely a biochemical accident?
* Could elaborate further on this theme ...
* Maybe 'resistance is futile' ... as many spiritual paths mention ...
* Yet, one thing is for sure - if you go along to your friendly neighbourhood psychiatrist and tell him that your thoughts and behaviour are being telepathically influenced by aliens then you might just find yourself in a psychiatric ward ...
Then 58061 -
Good Morning Humans,
As for changing the name of the forum ... if we took the advice on 'ceasing all thought' to heart we'd close the forum and as Nike says 'Just do it' ... or just not do it ... whatever ...
I now declare this forum officially closed. No further correspondence will be entered into. Any impulse to respond to this post shuld be observed and laughed at. He who cannot laugh at his own impulses is truly lost.
Namaste
ah ... forgot to post this image -
... and I'm not entirely joking ... though some interesting stuff leading up to it ... comments about how sad it is and criticism of the content of forum ... um, am I missing something here? ... what does THAT say about a person who returns to a place he's decided is useless ... let alone the old chestnut that it is ALL in the eye of the beholder ...
... then again if I had entirely mastered 'inner disarmament' ...
Plus comments about little 'variety in opinion' ... um, we've just spent a couple of weeks explaining what complete fluff opinions are and the need to truly let them go if you want to get anywhere ... hmmm ...
It is an interesting paradox ... most spiritual 'paths' focus on transforming the types of thoughts a person might entertain ... to JUMP to the idea that thought itself is the barrier ... hmmm ...
... then there are those who say just go with whatever resonates with you personally ...
... besides which, IF you were interested in a conversation board where people ACTUALLY do something about these explorations of reality - try
afterlife knowledge
... or
SPIRITWEB (which is where the words-of-wisdom chat room lives)
... yes, one could say that opinions are phenomena which belong to the lower levels of consciousness. Once a person begins to ascend to higher levels of consciousness, he/she begins to see opinions and the act of forming them and clinging to them as quite absurd ...
For a complete change of pace ... sportsmen and commentators ... you'd think the 'unexpected' had never occured in sports - let alone cricket which has always been called a 'funny game' ... let alone one-day cricket which is a lot like russian roulette ... anyways, a tour of India soon, so Steve waugh says in his press conference that his aim is to win the finals in two games rather than go to a third so his team will have an extra couple of days rest ... it's more the tone - simply assuming the Aussies WILL win ... well ... a lively wicket (after rain and humidity) and they are 4 down for not a lot of runs ... hmmm ... you cringe when you hear people 'declaring' what will happen ... it so OFTEN produces egg-on-the-face ... I mean the West Indies have not been playing too well and their confidence may be down just now BUT they do have talented players and confidence is a funny thing - as I know from even my level of proficiency in a couple of sports ...
... and i seem to recall a number of times when the Aussies have got their hands on the trophy for winning the finals when they were a LONG way from being the BEST team during the preliminary rounds ...
... I'm sure the West Indies players would be pinching themselves if they do carry off the trophy having never looked like beating Australia in 5 tests & 4 one-day games ... :)

Looks as if the When God Talks Back site has had a major re-vamp since I last visited it ... in appearance anyways ...
... so I filled in her questionnaire - I don't suspect there are many who can say they experienced Unity Consciousness in a psych ward ...
Looks as if my 'inner disarmament' needs some fine-tuning ... I did feel like posting something along the lines of: 'You must be joking ... you talk about people having a fixed mind-set ... your agenda seems to be to persuade everyone to your view that because Deepak drives a Jag and has a few dollars then he couldn't possibly have anything meaningful to say about the BIG questions ... sounds like a mind-set to me ...'
Pity I closed the door ?? ... went shopping (HOT again - already more days above 35 than the monthly average!) ... saw a poster with a quote I think from the Bible? ... 'Love does not keep score' ... and a whole lot of other verses I don't recall but that's SPOT on ... and so sad to compare with nearly every relationship I've seen in action during this particular lifetime ... this business of 'keeping score' on its OWN generates a huge percentage of the tension people currently experience ... :(
A few more thoughts about the forum ... {It would seem I am having trouble 'letting go' in both senses} ... I have found one of the most useful pieces of advice is to assume 100% responsibility for the way you feel. So, if I am annoyed, I remind myself that I created this state of being annoyed. This is 180 degrees from the way most people see things. We are conditioned (almost from birth) to blame others for how we feel. "You're so annoying." "I hate it when people do that." "You make me so angry." ... As long as it is 'someone else's fault' nothing will ever change. However, if you assume 100% responisbility then you open the door to the possibility of creating a more pleasant experience. Naturally, there will be times when you become forgetful and lapse into old habits ...
"When you start to closely examine everything you think you know for sure, you soon discover that you don't know anything for sure."
- Adolf Hitler (before he became interested in politics)
Found time to write another little poem -
Another ridiculously brief poem written on a bus
I like to let my consciousness drift all over the place
This explains the strange smile that often apears on my face
Interesting article from one of yesterday's searches -
Facing Up to the Problem of Consciousness ... discusses the 'easy' problems versus the 'hard' (or almost indefinable) problems ... I mean the very act of defining things involves certain assumptions which may or may not prove remotely close to the real picture of the way things are ...
... I suppose the chief one being that the thing we call consciousness is amenable to investigation using conventional scientific means ... kind of reminds me of Part I of 'Brain Story' ... quite a few statements started with "I am convinced that ... " Yes, well there's a substantial number of us who are 'convinced' that those statements contain assumptions which are enormously questionable ...
... and that centuries of TRUE exploration of consciousness have revealed a VERY different picture of reality than your average modern materialistic scientist might have you believe ...
... but it's an interesting read nevertheless ... I mean the very description of the problem get the cogs spinning ...
Yes ... it struck me during 'Brain Story' ... you can investigate the PHYSICAL processes in the brain to the nth degree ... the chemicals and the cells and the electrical impulses ... but even if you have a 'perfect' description of the physical mechanism the TRULY interesting questions remain unanswered - and even unasked ... I mean if I meditate deeply and you find the chemical changes and the brainwave patterns ... you haven't even begun to explain HOW those changes occured - what's BEHIND it all ... like with the descriptions of the 'Laws of Nature' ... science never asks WHY those laws are there - what's driving the whole show ... how do physical objects 'know' that gravity & the other forces are there to make them move as they do ... this is awfully clumsy wording but maybe conveys a sense of it all ... Yes, HOW did the laws get there ...
... plus the only difference between a live functioning brain and a dead lump of grey matter is that one has ceased to function ... this is also awfully tough to express ... ah, the limitations of words ... basically WHO or WHAT is driving all the processes that sustain our bods ... processes that carry on without conscious direction ... digestion ... the organs ... the blood chemistry ... the mind boogles ...
... let alone trying to explain WHY we have emotions, desires, urges, satisfaction, why our mental/emotional states fluctuate ... often seemingly beyond our 'control' ...
... and my old analogy of fright creating adrenlain NOT the other way around ... and I am sure being in
love alters the chemical 'balance' of the brain but nobody would suggest love is simply a biochemical accident. I have often attempted to convey this idea to psychiatrists with regard to schizophrenia - IF indeed there is some chemical imbalance (a) Who's to say the imbalance
caused the experience RATHER than the other way around! (b) It's not the world's greatest 'explanation' ... I mean the obvious follow-up is to ask WHAT caused the imbalance ... trying to explain human experience in terms of biochemistry is to my mind of extremely dubious real value to anyone ... and may indeed be the source of great 'harm' given the current automatic first-resort being medication ...
... and my stance is very subdued compared with those who oppose not only medication (often against the person's wishes) but the entire basis of modern psychiatry ... I mean I'd have no quibbles EXCEPT for the fact that legislation empowers them to take away your liberty based on their 'expertise' which is very open to question ... see
New Paradigm June 2000 ... yes, John Watkins article is so reminiscent of Lama Yeshe's views on 'mental illnesss' - I think I included a link in those excerpts ...
"It's very easy to sit back and criticise when you're not the one who has to make the decision."
added a bit more to murmur notes ... yes, if you're after a forum where people have no inhibitions about offending ... try the Delphi ... the atheists & fundamentalists are ripping into each other like nobody's business ... absolutely illustrates the fact that 'both parties are damaged in the exchange' ... and having done similarly MOST of my current life, it is really so silly ... I mean HOW many times do such arguments achieve anything ONCE they descend into name-calling and such like ... neither side has been swayed one millimetre by the other ... so sad ...

A bit more fun at both forums - sometimes I just can't help myself ...

On that ABC computer help program - I heard mention of

A few more thoughts on how people seemingly can't help it - like MILLLLIONS they actually believe worry is perfectly 'natural' and that normality is what's 'best' ... hmmm ... and like MOST will strongly resist being told the REAL truth ... ?? ...
www.angelfire.com/wv/geoall/goujon.html
... and really CWG is spot-on ... WORRY is based on the notion that the universe is an unfair & hostile place where 'bad' things happen for no 'good' reason ... and since it's all just 'pot luck' you spend all your days worrying how much of that randomness will impact on you & those around you ...
A few idle moments ... so I plug 'VICSERV' into the Google search engine and was astonished to find that my notes about the VICSERV conference are listed as number 6 on their results! wow ...
... compare that with ALLTHEWEB which never mentions it in their top 100 ... hmmm ... though it did find a link to those dreams from the THEMHS conference -

"That's the problem with dogma. Any human being who adopts a rigid & fixed point of view is in grave danger of taking him/herself way too seriously. Reality has this strange way of finding a means to tickle such a person until he/she decides to let go. Eventually."
- Anne O'nymous
Here's today's optional mantra: 'I used to believe in my own skeptical integrity of life.'

Just a friendly reminder, step # 1 in any sincere spiritual quest is to let go of the desire to belittle or be sarcastic or attach derogatory labels or indulge in name-calling whenever you encounter those whose views don't quite co-incide with your own.
That's ... step ONE ...
{The Dalai Lama neatly refers to this process as 'inner disarmament'}
Interesting site - www.wearetheborg.com ... I'm in a real funny mood ... and it's thankfully 16 or more degrees coooler than the past few days ... includes an episode guide for those episodes we in Oz aint yet had the pleasure of experiencing ... and it's quite a tongue-in-cheek guide at that ! ...
Who would have thought it ... Lara makes a duck yet the West Indies reach 299 under lights! ... PITY they happened to be chasing 339 ... (after winning the toss and electing to bowl?)
... may be the highest score EVER made under lights in Melbourne ... by a team which has regularly been dismissed for well under 150 and even 100 throughout the summer ... it IS indeed a funny game ... and Warne ends it all with a leg-spinner's bouncer! ...
... and Lara wins 'man-of-the-series' and says he agrees with the astonished gasps of the crowd and that he doesn't deserve it! ... I mean he played one fabulous innings but then so did several of the Australians ... he even suggested someone should take a good look at who decides such awards! ... I mean Waugh made twice as many centuries and fifties in fewer games ... and is a sublime fielder ... does seem a somewhat anomalous decision ...
click ...
Hmmm ... I hadn't noticed that before ... on the list of
SPIRITWEB chat rooms ... there are 'regular meetings' ... and one of those has seminars, the transcripts of which are to be found here -
SPIRITUALITY SEMINARS ... may be worth checkin out ... when you have a spare moment or two ...
... which led me to one of the particpant's sites ... I like his collections of 'random thoughts' ...
click ...
... one of those sessions dicussed 'discarnate attachees' ... which along with alien abduction or channeling is something I would have absolutely mocked to smithereens just two years ago ...
... and some interesting links in the transcripts lead me to ... 'Thoughts on God' - especially addressed to those who feel they are 'allergic to God' ...
here ... originally written as a 'stream of consciousness' ... I like the 'disclaimer' as well ...
... yes, in this materialistic society ... if you claimed your actions/behaviour were the result of some disembodied entity attaching themselves to you ... hmmm ... you might just find yourself being prescribed a few little pills by your friendly neighbourhood psychiatrist ...
Saw an interesting interview with one of the apollo astronauts about the profound effect on his worldview as a result of seeing the earth from space ... I think it was Edgar Mitchell who went on Apollo 14 ... I think he founded the Institute for noetic studies ... click ... which is one of the links at 'When God Talks Back' ... hmmm ...
... then I find there's a site called
Spiritual astronauts
Plus found this - "One of the most important bits of knowledge you can have when initiating a change of any kind is this: Every time you make a decision for spiritual growth, you will experience opposition."
- J. Douglas Bottorff
... which is a lot like what Gary Zukav says ... but part of me still says yeah, but WHY? ... I mean that will put people off 'doing' this stuff surely ... ??
{That site actually came from a google search of 'astronauts spiritual experience' ...}
And to cap off a BIG day ... some of those google results on 'alternative views on schizophrenia' ... led me to the Esalen website ... should add it to those 'mental health links' and send to VICSERV?? ...
World as Tantric Adventure ... heaps of pages & articles ...
Yes, the Esalen Centre was 'founded in 1962 by Richard Price who had a strong personal commitment to finding ways to deal with psychosis that were more humane than the prevalent practices of institutionalization, medication, and electroshock.' Many excellent articles and perspectives on transformative practices.
... yes, reading that list of advice for therapists ... makes you wonder who-on-earth could balance all that and be truly effective in helping a person through such a labyrinthine experience as schizophrenia ... maybe you'd have to have personal experience of the territory?? hmmm ... maybe one day ... which is kind of why I felt moved to write
My ideal day program isn't it ...
I mean I'm sure there are many many workers & therapists who genuinely want to help ... just as I'm sure there are plenty of parents & teachers sincerely thinking their picture of reality is sufficiently enlightened & flexible to make enough of a difference ...
... yes, maybe one day when enough bodhisattvas are incarnated ... because until you truly liberate your self can you really be of much benefit to those in real distress/difficulty ...

One of yesterday's links was also good stuff on schizophrenia and the difficulty faced by workers & therapists (not to mention the person with it!) - a site called
Schizophrenia Help
... though one COULD well argue it is written from the perspective that 'normality' is what's 'best' for any given individual ... and as the song says, that aint necessarily so ...
Reading over the past few days ... hmmm ... The Golden Key and its applicability to something like schizophrenia, which sure could be described as a 'difficulty' ... and yet two years ago I would have said 'you have GOT to be kidding! That's just nonsense.' ... why do so many of us have this voice saying 'it can't be that simple - get real' ... and if you published it as a serious suggestion most 'professionals' would say you need help yourself ...
Some interesting emails - about primordial sound meditation & its benefits & how uptight we areas asociety ... may add some of it to this journal ... or to ... plus impressioons of episod one of 'Brain Story' ... yes, it occurs to me that 'I am convinced' is simply an alternative way of saying 'I believe' ... I mean if it were self-evident then no other opinion could be formulated ... :)
... speaking of primordial sound meditation ... I had a quick ferret around and found this site -
here - it has '25 good reasons to learn to meditate' ... which were well appreciated by my email correspondents ...
... in fact they may end up in this file ... the first section of which could be further developed as a theme ... acts of 'faith' ... for those who say they have none ...
... plus added a bit of the ERMHA writer's group stuff ... Thea ... Gilbert ... Rebecca ... Memphis ... already seems SO long ago ... might PAY to make that a separate file and HIGHLIGHT it on my front page ... or at least in one of my many 'links' pages of 'interesting stuff' ...
... plus a few thoughts on reincarnation and achieving balance ... and I must have been an intolerant bastard in one of my previous lives ...
and as so often happens as I transcribed my own scribblings ... they took on a life of their own and went in some 'unexpected' directions ... some delicious speculations in there ... I can't stay too serious for very long these days ... Thank God ...
For the second time in 24 hours ... google is one heck of a search engine - this time in the top 20 results -
click ... and I barely remember writing that ... hmmm ...
... and exploring those links - one is a PDF file - so right clicked and saved it to hard-drive ...
... and my playful little mind ... I wondered if i altered the title of that journal page ... would Google pick it up ??? ... the ego in me wants to alter it from 'Journal May 26 onwards' to 'Geoff Allen's Journal May 26 onwards' ...
... checking that 'old' journal entry ... the link to 'Cave in the Snow' excerpts is 'dead' ... so I employed Google ...
click ... should have picked up my (extensive) excerpts? ... and it did - around number 14 ... and it
becomes number one! if you search for 'excerpts from cave in the snow' ... so I added those links to the excerpts ... :)
... I'd expect similar results from all the other book excerpts etc which I have typed up ... google has definitely become my search injun of choice ...
Today's mantra:
"The universe has been exquisitely designed. To drive me clean out of my mind."

More emails about that 'walking in his moccasins' quote ... so I try ... you guessed it ... google ... some interesting results -
click ... I like this one -
Monkeys in the jungle
... also
Children's Literature Site - with questions about various books ...
Picked up that boook Passion for the Possible by Emma Pierce, which has been layin around the house for some time ... it opens with a quote from Thomas Aquinas I aint read elsewhere ...
"If you are on one side of the room and you want a man on the other side to come over and join you because you think the view is better, you will get nowhere by shouting at him and telling him what an idiot he is to be on the wrong side of the room. You must go to where he is, take him by the arm, and gently lead him, one step at a time, from the wrong side of the room to the right side, beside you."
{Yet another thing to thank Dave for - if it weren't for that trip to Bendigo ... and stoppin off to browse that HUGE bookshop ... I seem to recall we even had to ask some locals for directions ...}
"We've barely scratched the surface in our understanding of the way reality works. So, I think it's entirely possible." {That idea of discarnate beings attaching themselves to vulnerable individuals - scary, yes, but certainly plausible}
Intriguing Song lyrics - from a movie I saw called 'house arrest' ... song is 'It's good to know that I'm alive' ... didn't actually watch a lot of the movie but this was the song playing at the end ...
Purchased a new 'toy' ... as may be evidenced by
clicking here ... more to follow ... see
toscan.htm ...
... and palying around with it and photeditor ... I dredged up that 'old' notebook from those 7 days - lmost precisely 2 years ago ... hmmm ... which was one of my first 'projects' planned in the afterglow of that phenomenal experience ...
... and really as with MUCH of modern technology - the web for instance - plug your PC into a phone line and contact the entire world ... video recorders ... CD's ... cassettes ... what we 'take for granted' would absolutely astonish people from just 100 years ago ... space flight ... yes, scan an image and there it is in digital form on the website a few minutes later ... amazing ...
... and going over some old ERMHA 'stuff' also therapeutic ... is someone trying to tell me somethin ...
More intersting stuff sparked by wow chat - may compile 'best' bits soon ... stay tuned?? ...
... or ... click on this link
... and while there ... just happened to click on this article which puts a very different spin on the eternal question
Where am I going? ...
... musings on writing & communication & consciousness & time and what it all means ... and taking much for granted ... and sermons ... Amen ...
... and {finally} ... pressed on that
random buddhist link ... and found a site with some quite large screensavers ... images of temples etc - could be worth checkin out ...
click ...

Now it seems a cool spell is upon us. But don't speak too soon ... this is Melbourne after all ... actually it is all relative ... 30 Celsius is still quite warm but compared with
40 degrees ... it's Heaven ...
A link I spotted on the TV - www.wowscience.com ...
I decided to play around just a little with the new toy ...
click ... some of the descriptions came right out-of-nowhere ... and one may argue they should have been left there ...
Also that article about censorship I mentioned a while back -
click - no wonder transcription is preferred ... hmmm ...
Actually got around to reading some of that UG Krishnamurti stuff ... kind of goes in a seemingly opposite direction from most ... hmmm ... 'The Mystique of Enlightenment' ... or 'The Mistake of Enlightenment' ... for more details ... the response to being asked, "When I said that I wanted to read your book, you said that it was dead. What do you mean?" ...
click and scroll to final paragraph ... hmmm ... his thoughts on the body and diet and taste and sawdust would raise a few eyebrows ... or scoffs ...
... and as I contemplated such matters while standing in line at the post office ... a couple of possible starting lines for a poem popped into my consciousness ... 'With such an abundance of seemingly contradictory views, It's little wonder that a person like me might feel a bit confused' ...
Also some other interesting sites today as I fixed up a few odd pages here & there ... a 'new' page or two of
Tenzin Palmo for instance ... and how my angelfire site is now like a rat's maze ... many pages ... vaguely connected to each other ... but only a minority are directly linked to my 'front page' ...
And enough 'spare' time to scan some of ET101 ...
click ...
.... for those with WAY too much time ...
Memory Game ... can even be played off-line, I believe ... fun for the whole family ... :)
Art & the zen of web sites
I never did get around to listing the site I visited today ... except for this one ...
Awakening101
... you may have to 'enrol' if you click on the link but it's free - and an interesting page on selecting a guru & charging money etc ...
here
... esp since I not longer frequent the chopra forum ... hmmm ... :)
... plus an interesting analogy with
tying up your shoe laces ...
Testing ...
Today's mantra: "People are nearly always irritating me with their lives." {Note: this mantra is most effective when combined with a brisk walk along the nearest beach, or sitting on the grass watching some ducks}
... plus an interesting 'discussion' forum
{click}
... some topics & claims do seem to stir up STRONG emotions ... :) ... does raise the old qusetion of what constitutes 'proof' & 'explanation' ... and what is 'reality' ... kind of links in with those pages from ET101 ...

From yesterday's meanderings ...
Wistancia Stone
SPIRITWEB
The Five Varieties of Zen
www.blackboard.com - online courses
Crafts for kids
Plus a few links from a quick peek in one of the 'empty' SPIRITWEB chat rooms
{Sahara}-
iain
sunluv
scoder
JudyMoon
druidess
MoonPoet
... then from that article on 'gurus' ... a few names to have a google at ...
The Unknowing Sage
The same site has excerpts from 'The Path of the Masters' by Julian P. Johnson ...
here ...
Plus a site called The Neural Surfer has some interesting stuff about plagiarism ...
May upload a few scans of 'sarlon' ... if you know what I mean ... if not ...
click & find out ...
Yes ... 'It is this divine current, wave or stream going forth from God himself, and flowing throughout the universe. But when God speaks, he not only sets in motion etheric vibrations but he himself moves in and through those vibrations. In truth it is God himself that vibrates all through infinite space. God is not static, latent; He is superlatively dynamic. When he speaks, everything in existence vibrates, and that is the Sound, the Shabd; and it can be heard by the inner ear, which has been trained to hear it. It is the divine energy in process of manifestation which is the holy Shabd ...' - from the plagiarism article ...
Yet ... on the subject of 'plagiarism' ... it IS entirely conceivable that if the source of such writings is indeed divine inspiration that it might be nearly identical EVEN if the second person NEVER laid eyes on the work that he is accused of plagiarising ... I like what Deepak says along the lines that some thoughts are experienced more personally. I call them 'mine' ... and anyway, does it matter who said what ... is what is srittn helpful in one's quest ... if indeed one is on a quest ...
In case I'm ever reading this journal in the future & I'm feeling a bit nostalgic abt ERMHA and the various experiences that have occured in the past 2 years or so ...
click here for some evocative images ... {maybe} ... anyone else, please ignore this link {Oh yeah, right, Geoff. I'm sure they will now ...
... and looking over that material it occurs to me ... the reason the mental health system (and indeed all other current human systems) fails miserably is that it is not founded on the realisation that each human being is an individualised spark of God. It's really simple once you can see that ...
... and still enough time to work on a few poem ideas ...
click ... {email me if this is a 'dead' link as it means I got distracted once again after thinking of some new project ... I'm a bit prone to do that ... my attention span these days is not much better than your average goldfish ... then again, the goldfish seem fairly content swimming around and around going over the same old ground ... :)
Those numbers ... no 'accident' ?? ... send to WOW crowd ... why not ... 'if you win a substantial amount, please consider donating some to my favourite charity - the
The Gyuto Monks? ... 10, 25, 29, 36, 41, 45, 46, 51, 65, 69 ...
Plus that Afterlife Knowledge stuff ... should re-read the rest of that
article - I have had that photocopy in my rucksack for some time for some reason
... or visit their site -
here ...
Had a nice enough day, taking a bus to the shops and watching the ducks {are chips any good for duckies? - I must remember to take bread next time} ... and watchin an old guy tossing a ball for his tireless canine companion ... rather reminds me of the times when my dog was that energetic & youthful ... she was so eager to catch the ball she would often try to grab it AS i was in the act of throwing! ... ouch ... also some seagulls and a couple of swallows who showed great flying skills to swoop down over the pond to scoop up a mouthful of water ... thankfully it's a much cooler week - ast week tested the patience & tolerance of even the most saintly among us ... whoever they might be ...
Here's some random dialog that may come in handy one day:
"I feel I may be losing my grip on reality."
"Congratulations. It was bound to happen one of these days.
"Early one morning, I was spontaneously re-absorbed into the remainder of the universe."
"I always endeavour to live according to the old motto: If you can't say anything new (and let's face it, who can?) then at least try to say the same old things in an interesting way."
"My life is a series of inter-connected catastrophic events, each of which has a very deep and personal significance."

Here's an interstin Ken Wilber link ... though I keep wondering about making this 'stuff' accessible to the 'average' person ... hmmm ...
Ken Wilber ...
... plus an
interview ... about critics ... should read it ...
Going through more stuff to scan ... those highlighted Conversations with God photocopies ...
... yes ... 'When you can bring it's phrases to mind in the midst of the darkest hour' ... I'm not quite there just yet but so close I can literally taste it ... and when you consider just 2 years ago I would have laughed and mocked anyone who dared suggest such a possibility ... and if we have indeed lived hundreds of lifetimes to reach this 'level' then two years is the blink of an eye ...
Looking back, I still have to pinch myself ... if you'd said I'd even read a book like Conversations with God ... let alone respond to it in a way I'd have not even been capable of imagining ... as
Hadi said, the Unity experience CAN be sparked by something as simple as reading the
right book ...
...
A few more emails raise those old questions ... boysmum.html ... may transcribe some into here ... then again, any reading of this journal over the past 15 months would give some indication of my (evolving) views on schizophrenia & the 'system' & reality & why things happen ... :)
