Today's mantra: "A man is always a woman instead."

Slightly modified search from a few days ago ...

Watched an old fave late last evening {insert Google search for "Edward Scissorhands"} ... yes, I'd forgotten how whimsical & yet insightful that movie is in parts ...

You could say something somewhat similar about this page from recent email exchanges

Some more interesting emails when I log on ...

One asked if I have heard of St John's wort (for treating depression). Well, yes, I have. I also have this quaint little booklet I purchased eons ago ... lemme see if I can lay my hands on it ...

The front cover promises ...

"How proper diet & vitmin therapy can help cure:

- Nervous tension
- Chronic Fatigue
- Depression
- Stress
- Insomnia
- Premature Senility
- Schizophrenia

I had a quick flick through the index ... oh what the heck, I can scan the page ... click {assuming I remember 2 upload it}

That got my little grey cells ticking (or tickling) over ... have a look at the results of this Google search ...

I've only just this minute made the search, so make of the result what you will. The top one sounds interesting - www.pumpyouraura.com ... I have heard of Pranic Healing but never really looked into it. I've also heard of 'punctured auras' etc. I wonder what your average shrink would say if you trotted along and said you feel low because your aura has been punctured!

Here's that search from earlier on ...

After yet another email, I followed some of the links on this page ... to here & here ... the quote about 'should first examine it and see whether it is not something that could better be changed in ourselves' ... applicable not JUST to kiddies ... :)

Made my regular daily trip to this little page ... which may of course be defunct in a few weeks ... :)

Tomorrow I may as well send them the Jung ...

Hmmm ... checking those many, many wtc links ... some file locations seem to have been altered ... look for session 902 & 912 over at the Elias site

Yeah, I'd forgotten JUST how many sites is listed in that collection ... well, I suppose it was/is one of the more unforgettable moments in human history so far ...

Some chats - also from those wtc sites ... a few of which needed updating & tweaking ...

... I hadn't heard of 'elder rage' before ...

"Oh ... the visible world ... oh, what can I see ..."

I've heard some amusing anecdotes on the ABC recently ... as part of their 70th birthday ... lemme see if any are online ... there may well be some info at this page ... {I'm in Melbourne, in case you've forgotten ... that's down the south-east corner of the mainland}

Today's mantra: "I would have thought that anyone could try and explain their own behaviour in twelve words or less."

Oh yes, from Thursday's emails ... a question from this page ... check out the 13th one down--the one that talks about the universe. I was asked what do I think of that statistic ...

At first I wondered if it was referring to the universe's colour or the percentage of visibla matter? I'll assume it's the one about the matter ... I suppose they have plugged some numbers into their existing equations and the dark matter percentage is a guesstimate to account for why the galaxies etc behave as they do given our present understanding of gravity & matter. Does that make any sense. I'm just sitting here in the computer room with numb fingers - I really should go grab the heater and bring it in here ... :)

Statistics like that always fascinate me - reminds me of one of those episodes of 'Cosmos' where Mr sagan speaks about the likelihood of aliens & habitabel planets. How do you really put a menaingful probability onto such things ... given that this planet and this human species is (so far) the only example of vaguley intelligent life in the cosmos that conventional science has to work with.

My thumb print - get a better one? next trip 2 the Museum ... :)

Best Leunig ever! ...

Okay, that is a big call & I do realise it's very much in the eye of the beholder and my opinion may change ... but here it is ... {Damn! it doesn't scan all THAT well ... ah ... perhaps I could pop along to the library & photocopy it ... I ave observed that newsprint often does NOT produce 'nice' results when scanned ... so remind me 2 upload an improved version at some stage ...}

{& I almost didn't buy Thursday's 'Age' ... in fact I purchased it this morning ... so you're damn lucky they had some left-over copies ... :)

Click

Here too

Leunig update: Hmmmm ... seems like the photocopy theory has a few holes in it ... yes, photocopies of pages of his books are fine but it seems the photcopies of newsprint aint so great ...

Here's a few interestin comments on Mr Leunig ... :)

Today's mantra: "The first man lived in his own forest of dreams."

Also saw this book while browsing yesterday ...

Plus some gorgeous dolphin shots by Francois Gohier

Quote of the day: "If you can't laugh at yourself, something's wrong."
- Bruce Ruxton (on the radio this morning)

This page looks promising ... funny thing is, I found it by plugging 'indoor bee hive' into Google. I saw an amazing little story on the telly the other day about this guy in Australia who has built an indoor hive! Glass on three sides (the other side being the wall of his loungeroom. A pipe leads up through the top of the hive and up out through the ceiling and has an entrance on the roof. So the bees can come and go as they please and the guy can sit and watch them fromt he comfort of his sofa!

I wish he'd come & buiild me one. The show is (supposedly) a kid's program called
'Totally Wild' but I reckon it's better viewing than most 'adult' stuff.

- ceramic garden snail gnome sculpture (smile)

- Bert Flugelman (spelling?) (Blue Mountains)

Add one of wtc ... or webshots ... or maybe cropped leunig from acacia site ...

Here's somethin I scribbled down a few daze ago ... {watching a few video clips early one frosty morning} ... it occurs 2 me that there are 2 HUGE ego-trips common in human relationships (esp the ones people seem 2 sing about) ... (a) You have the ability & ingenuity to change the other person (for the better) - one could call this the messiah complex ... (b) You are so fabulous & wonderful & special that the other person will be so highly motivated to change FOR you ...

"He's not the messiah. He's a very naughty boy."

Today's mantra: "Any human being who thinks that anger & criticism are healthy responses is highly confused. Be patient with them."

Here's a few more from yesterday's extensive meanderings ...

I like this shot (well ALL of them are worth viewing FULL size :)

(From this webshots album - webshots does shrink the images but you can click with the right button & get the file location and see it full-size - that is, you click with the right button AFTER you've clicked on the thumbnail in the album. Hope that makes sense )

Another great linx page ...

Well overdue clarification :)

Several on this page look worthy of further exploration, I'd say

That Lid Juarez article has moved again ... wasn't there a PDF version somewhere ...

The time of ingathering - note the date!

Whitefella Dreaming :)

{Note: if you have a slow connection, I'd advise making a cup o' tea (or maybe a five corse meal) while this page loads! It has loads of images but it's worth the wait. IMHO. If some images fail 2 load, you may need to click with the right mouse button and select 'Show Picture'.}

Quote of the day: "Everything seems a better idea when you're drunk"
(from a fabulous SBS comedy 'Life Support' :)

Posted this ... click

Fabulous episode of the new series of Outer Limits last evening ... about aliens & being 'believed' ... and skeptics ... :)

{It even had that quote from Tommy Szasz }

A little search for its themes leads me to this huge page with more alien links than you're likely to need ... {I did click on the 'UFO man' link ...}

Another interesting page - http://originaldo.com/book/index.html - their illustrations page also takes a while 2 load ... {but it's also worth it}

Fixing up some old pages ... found this little link ... click

I like their definition of compassion on this page - click - people DO tend to confuse it with pity etc ... and genuine compassion does require a fairly deep level of insight ... so it's as rare as hen's teeth just at the moment ...

Yeah, speaking of drugs (of the psychiatric persuasion) ... here's something I was reading just the other day on the train into the aquarium ... "No offence, but when somebody is in an abyss like that, you really would have to be Jesus Christ or some other kind of healer to be of ANY real benefit to the person ... which is precisely why modern psychiatry focuses so heavily (almost exclusively) on pills because there are so few true healers in the profession ... sad but true ..."

Today's mantra: "My life has often been eroded by strange circumstances."

Is it really half the year gone already ... my, my, how time files ...

Seeing as how the weather is on the improve (for June), I might just take myself off to the aquarium and maybe the newly-renovated domed reading-room at the State Library. I heard on the radio the other day that after nearly 3 years, it's opening again and has natural sunlight (not that it's overly sunny on most days in June but still ...)

{Update: Silly me - forgot 2 set the alarm and after a tiring week I kinda slept in ... the room looked great on the news though! And if I heard correctly it aint fully re-opened to the pubic until mid 2003 ... hmmm ... I guess we'll just have 2b patient ...}

A day in the life of a gibbon family ...

Wow ... an astonishing poem on this doco I watched last night ... about Nick Drake ... fabulous but melancholy songwriter & guitarist ... bu the poem was writ by his Mother ... I'll see if it's out there in cyberland ... if not, I'll type it up as I recorded a section of the doco on my trusty VHS ...

{And it was recited by his sister flawlessly ... if you're ever in the neighbourhood, pop over & I'll show you the tape ... the doco was called 'A Skin too few - the Days of Nick Drake'}

Quote of the day: "You don't get me? You don't need to get me. I'm simply a counter example to your point of view."

Plus a cute cartoon about emails I may scan ... click ;)

Plus a poem from Oodgeroo Noonunccal

Oh yes, almost forgot ... whata contrast in 24 hrs ... after the Nick Drake doco last evening, SBS has a stroy about laughing clubs in India ... even mentioned a national Laughter Convention ... {kinda reminds me of 'My Ideal Day Program' and that laughing academy ... }
