Ukyou is first seen in the series coming out of nowhere , attacking Genma and then threatening to get Ranma next. No one seems to know why though....except for Genma that is. During the initial fight with Genma, Akane who was near by overhears Ukyou say that Genma abandoned her(but only Genma at the time knows she is a girl). Akane tells Ranma and then he is a little bit surprised. To him he just found out that he might have a brother he never knew about. The next day Akane hears that there is a new transfer student to Furinkan High. Ukyou is then introduced to the class and she introduces herself as the best okonomiyaki cook "Maybe even in the world." Ranma than gets up and begins to recall something familiar about her after eating some of her okonomiyaki but he initially did not remember who she was.(keep in mind Ranma thinks she is a guy)He starts to recall that she was a friend from his past when he was very young.(She was also in a boy's school with Ranma a long time ago because she's a tomboy and so was thought a guy.) He calls her Ucchan which was what she was called by him in the past. She accepts what he says but she is still mad at Ranma And then we find out why. First Ranma speaks of what he remembered.. What he remembers is that Genma and him had to go away and as they were leaving which happened to be on Ukyou's father's okonomiyaki cart, Ukyou was behind ,running after them. Thats all he could recall. Ukyou surprised by what Ranma only knew starts to explain what really happened. She says yes Ranma was leaving on the cart but Genma was pulling it!! But why was this??!! That's when Genma shows up out of nowhere and trys to explain. Genma adimately states that he earned the cart fair and square. ?????...Ukyou who is still upset finds out that Ranma doesnt know why she is so upset and plus the fact that she is a girl.In her anger she then sends Ranma a challenge letter. Later on during their fight Ranma accidently cuts her clothing by her chest and then he finds out that Ukyou is a girl!! Surprised by this he tries pouring hot water on her to no avail. Then Genma shows up to find out what happened and then is forced to explain the REAL story in which he says is really Ranma's fault. He explains that Ukyou and Ranma were childhood friends. And while they were playing one day Ukyou's father asks Genma if Ranma can be her fiance. Genma rejects the idea at first saying that he already has a suitor. But then Ukyou's father says that he'll also throw in his okonomiyaki cart and then Genma graciously accepts. But as Genma thought about it he didnt know what to do because he knew he couldn't let Ranma marry Ukyou so he asked Ranma (who was very little at the time) what he likes better. Ukyou or okonomiyaki. Ranma replies okonomiyaki. And so Genma picks up and carries the cart, with Ranma on it and runs away with it. Therefore he says that it is Ranma's fault for what happened. Well the girls around them hear the story and call Ranma and Genma enemies of women and start to attack them. Ranma escapes and then talks to Ukyou who is again very upset. Ranma then tries to comfort her and calls her CUTE. She is first surprised and then responds by blushing and kept asking really? really? and he would continue to answer yes. That is when Ukyou is given the title of being called Ranma's cute fiance. She then runs after Ranma throwing an okonomiyaki with a heart shape on it at him to show her affection.
Besides Ranma she doesn't seem to have any other love interests (possibly Ryouga?). She is very independent...even has her own restaurant, and she really does seem and act cute in what she does, at least in my opinion. Her weapons and method of attack are the large Spatula on her back which was passed down to her from her family, and the small spatulas which she uses to throw like knives or darts on her clothing in front.
