.VOB DIRECTLY TO MPEG1 WITH PANASONIC MPEG1 ENCODER! By Robshot and
Nomad_
NEW DISCOVERY!!!!!
We can convert a PAL 25 fps VOB file, or an NTSC 29.97fps VOB file directly into
an mpeg1 file (vcd or standard specs)with audio and video intact , in One
pass!!!!!.
The result is a very high quality MPEG1 file. A quality file that has not
been achievable to this point by either MPEG2VCR or MAINACTOR. Both of
these programs require at least two passes to complete the process.
SO, HOW?
1. Get yourself Panasonic Mpeg1 encoder 2.21 (2.20 might work, I have not tested it)
2. Get the LSX mpeg2 player directshow filters called: mpeg2decode.ax and mpeg2parser.ax. Please understand. You do NOT have to install the LSX mpeg2 player. You just need these filter files
3. Get the ac3 directshow audio filter from the winDVD player called iviaudio.ax.
(WinDVD does not have to work in your system or even be installed. You just need that filter file.).
4. Register those 3 files using Regsvr32.exe (regsvr32 "C:\xxx\filename.ax").
5. Unregister any Xing mpeg2decoder video and ac3audio filters with:
VIDEO FILTERS:
regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Xing Shared\MPEG Decode\XmdVidSubDecode.dll"
AUDIO FILTERS
regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Xing Shared\MPEG Decode\audsubdecode.dll".
*****NOTE****: I am not sure of the name of the audio filter...Please check the name in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Xing Shared\MPEG Decode before doing the command on the audio filters.
Now you can input your VOB to the Panasonic standalone mpeg1 encoder and convert
the VOB to an mpeg1 file.
THAT'S IT baby :)
Pros:
1. HIRES QUALITY MPEG1 (standard or VCD specs)
2. A/V encoding in 1 step
2. Easy to implement filters
Cons:
1. still not answer the ntsc 24fps progressive vob -- the a/v syncing problem
2. slow process -- but understandable as it encodes a/v in 1 go
