I prepared these drawings for two reasons: I needed a plan for my character model assignment in a 3D Studio Max class, and I used the same drawings for an interview as a level design artist. I had completed some wire-frame models and begun to animate these things, but then because of an on-campus error... My zip disk got the "click of death" and I lost my entire portfolio... and the college purged the student folders off the hard drives before any of us had an opportunity to burn to CD (their CD burners were always broken). Some inspiration comes from Burne Hogarth's Tarzan, Maduera's X-Men, and Michael Golden's Bucky O'Hare... but otherwise everything belongs to me. Yes, it is also very funny that I used the "learn to draw school" rhino... a tongue in cheek absurdist gesture, I assure you. If you think my style is too cartoonish, then you must be American. Go post at slashdot and stop surfing the web. The idle-animation gifs above used to reside on a different page, but those characters also have links to static drawings from the link in their title. I animated the above gifs inside Adobe Photoshop and then used a simple Gif animator. |
