The FortuneCity Home Builder is a good tool for updating your home in the city, providing both flexability and ease of use to all residents. What we're going to cover here is a quick step by step tour through the capabilites of the Home Builder and some of it's limitations -- complete with screen shots along the way to keep the confusion down.
To begin -- FortuneCity allows you two methods to post your HTML documents and associated files to it's servers. The Home Builders and FTP. FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol and is, in my opinion, a better way of doing things. However, not all folks like to use FTP or have an FTP program on their computer (Click Here to learn about FTP), so FortuneCity has provided a similar device for uploading your web pages -- the Builder tool.
More limited than the FTP, there are a couple items you must remember in using the Home Builder.
First, it will only load files and documents to your site on the FortuneCity server. To load items elsewhere, you must use an FTP program or whatever method the server you wish to upload to has provided.
Second, you are restricted to alpha-numeric characters ( a to z and 0 to 9), the underscore "_" and hyphen "-" for use in file names. Other characters will either not load or will not function properly after loading.
FortuneCity has also set the Builder so that it will not load files which are greater than ten megabytes in size. This, however, should not present a problem to you since it is most unwise to have files of this size running on your personal page.
With those limitations in mind, let's look at the capabilites of the Builder and how to use it. Either take the structured tour below or click on the item about which you have a question.
