THE BRAIN
RIGHT, LEFT OR BOTH
The secret of a long life is an active brain, that is, a brain used to its full capacity. A brain which isn’t used dies; the grey cells dry up one by one, and the body dies with them.
As we know, it’s not the body which needs sleep, it’s the brain. It needs to computerise the information that the senses of the body have sent it. Normally the Left side of the brain dominates during the day, and the Right during the night.
The Left Hemisphere of the brain dominates the right side of the body, and the Right Hemisphere dominates the left. Call the parts what you like; logic-fantasy; yin-yang; male-female; objective-subjective; effective-affective; alpha-theta; left-right etc. a person nearly always has a predominating part.
Some easy ways of knowing if a person thinks more with the Right or Left, is to see which foot, ear, leg, is longest because one side of the body is almost always more developed than the other. Not necessarily does a left-handed person think more with the Right or a right-handed person think more with the Left.
The capabilities of the Left Hemisphere of the brain are: Reading, Writing, Languages, Phonetics, Hearing, Sense of Time, learning logically step by step to the whole, verbality
The capabilities of the Right Hemisphere of the brain are: Mathematics, Music, Art, Visual, Touch, little sense of time, learning through absurdity, fantasy the whole immediately then, if ever, step by step , non-verbality.
When one teaches one must use methods which will help both sides of the brain, that is, methods which will bombard ALL senses, so that they who use the Right Hemisphere most can understand easily too.
Using drawings, pictures on the walls, colours, one’s voice, tapes, etc., chorus-drills, Nature, music, singing, rhymes, the absurd, or their imagination, one can teach anybody anything.
When their brains are tired or confused, or before teaching them something new, make them stand up where they are or going from class-room to class-room, and do the Mad March, that is, their right knee and left hand up, then their left knee and right hand up ,twelve times each. It works miracles! Even for you!
If everything they learn must serve for their future, we must all dedicate ourselves in a way that one day, not far off I’m sure, the Masterminds of the future will be our grandchildren, because they will be able to use both parts of their brain with surprising facility, and what the ancients called the Third Eye or the Triune Brain will become natural to everybody.
