Name: unknown Rank: lower-ranked member of the Conspiracy (currently deceased) Background: unknown Specialty: Warning Mulder of danger |
The man known only as X worked with Fox Mulder's first informant, Deep Throat, and felt some loyalty to him. When Deep Throat was killed trying to pass information to Mulder, X felt obliged to carry on his work, but he doesn't feel strongly enough about it to get killed ("Sleepless").
X is scared all the time, and his fear leads to violence. He executes an enemy agent, sent to steal a vial of Scully's blood, in front of Mulder, and tells him "this is what it takes to find the truth!" ("One Breath") When Skinner needs information on Mulder's whereabouts, X refuses to give it until Skinner beats it out of him, in a hand-to-hand battle in an elevator that X nearly wins. In fact, X would have won (he wound up with his gun to Skinner's head) if Skinner hadn't pointed out that by pulling the trigger, X would be killing two men, Skinner and the kidnapped Mulder ("End Game").
X is not completely on Mulder's side. He manipulated Mulder into locating a missing scientist, then kidnapped him and turned him over to the very people the scientist was fleeing from ("Soft Light").
X eventually went to the well once too often. The Conspiract knew there was a leak, so they discussed terminating Mulder's mother. They waited to see how the information would leak back to Mulder, and when they found out X was the leak, they shot him outside Mulder's apartment. X barely had time to write "SASG" on the floor, in his own blood, before dying.
But he managed to pass the torch; when Mulder goes to the Special Assistant to the Secretary General of the UN, he meets a blond, apparently Scandinavian woman who passes him information on the Canadian clone farm. X has replaced himself ("Herrenvolk").
