It all started when Joss Whedon wrote a move called "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", Unfortunalty the movie didn't live up to his expectations. So a few years later he wrote a script and go Warner Brothers to back him up and starting a series, not many thought that it would last, but they were wrong, with a talented cast and behind the sceens people, the show has become a cult all over the world.
The thing that Joss wanted was that the show had to have some of the same characteristics as the movie, but different in may other ways and he has certainly achieved that!!!!
Some things which are the same are that Buffy is the slayer, you re-kill vampires with wooden stakes in the heart, beheading, holy water, fire just the usuall!!. And some differences are that Buffys close friends know her secret, she slept with a vampire, and her mother knows also.
Even with these changes the show is still a major hit, with the sex symbles of Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz also brings teenages watching every week.
