The scene opens at night, showing a full moon. We hear a voice over from
Willow, reciting poetry. We then see her in the Library, reading a book.
A Wolverine jumps into the cage wall beside her, startling her. Xander
enters to take over the Oz-watching duty from Willow. She tells him where
the clothes are, and says that she's not used to his full-Monty yet.
Xander says that it's won't bother him, and Willow says that she's not
even used to his half-Monty yet. This sparks Xander, and he asks her
which half she saw. She grins at him, and say, "Wouldn't you like to
know." Willow leaves, and Xander falls asleep on the table.
In a graveyard Buffy & Faith patrol, talking about how Buffy and Scott have been dating for a few days now. They talk about Scott, and Faith comments on how all men are beasts. We then see the camera running through a forest, and a guy appears in front, running. He trips, turns around, and screams. He is then dragged off camera. At school Buffy, Willow, and Oz (now normal) talk. Scott enters, and talks to them. Scott's friend Pete, and his girlfriend Debbie, enter and talk. Buffy says that she has to see Mr. Platt, the school counselor to convince him she's stable. Buffy and Scott kiss before parting. In the library Giles and Xander frantically search, until they see Willow and Oz enter. Xander tells them that Jeff Faulkin, a student they knew, was murdered last night. They find out that Xander was asleep while he was supposed to be watching Oz, and that the window was open and Oz could have escaped. Giles is extremely angry at Xander, and Oz is scared. Buffy enters the counselor's room, and talks. He says that everyone is a little crazy, and that "Any person who claims to be sane is lying or stupid." He talks about how everyone has inner demons, and can be fought. He asks why she ran away, and she says that she and her boyfriend ended badly, she and her mom were having fights, and she freaked out. She says that he was her first love, and then he changed. The counselor talks about how he got mean, and she still loved him. Buffy enters the library to see everyone sitting on the stairs, a black cloud surrounding them. She asks what happened, and Cordelia says, "Oz ate someone last night." Buffy goes to patrol, Willow, Xander and Cordelia go to check the morgue to see what killed Jeff. Oz locks himself in the cage. Faith takes the first shift to watch Oz, as Willow goes over to see him in the age. He's ashamed, and tells her to go away. Buffy goes on patrol, and sees someone running past her. She chases it, and is knocked to the ground. She looks up at her attacker, and stares into the growling vampire face of Angel. Angel races towards her and they fight. Buffy finally knocks him out. In the morgue Willow enters with Xander, and Xander is grossed out while Willow is not affected by the sight of the mutilated body. Cordelia enters, and freaks out Xander who tells her that while they are committing a crime, she shouldn't scare him like that. They comment on how Willow is not bothered, until she faints as she discovers that it was a werewolf that killed Jeff. In the old mansion Buffy chains Angel to the wall, as he fights to get free. Angel is a monster, and doesn't seems to understand her. She turns around, and sees scorch marks outlining a body, Angel's, where he landed. She stares shocked at it. At the library Faith dances to music until Buffy pokes her in her back. Faith instinctively punches Buffy in the face, until she sees who it was. Buffy takes over for her, and looks in the library index. The next day at school we see Oz asleep in his cage, as Giles unlocks it. He sees Buffy asleep, and sees the titles of the books she had, "Demon Dimensions", and "Exploring Acathla". Buffy tries to say that it was Faith reading those, but finally says that she had a dream that Angel came back, vividly. Giles says that he too had dreams like that, after Jenny died. Giles says that it might be a prophecy, as Buffy asks if there was a chance it was possible. Giles says that he hasn't heard of any cases like that, but there is a chance. Buffy asks what he would be like, and Giles tells her that it is a world of brutal torment, and that time moves differently, and that he would probably be a monster when he returns. He says that a person like that may or may not be a lost cause, and there are two types of demons. The first kind, he explains, wants to be saved. The second kind, however, is devoid of all humanity. Willow enters, and Oz leaves his cage. Willow tries to avoid the topic of the body, and Buffy thinks it was a vamp. Willow finally tells them that it was a wild animal. Buffy leaves to meet Scott. In the cafeteria, Buffy sits down with Scott at a table with Pete and Debbie. Scott tells her that she looks amazing, making Buffy feel uncomfortable. She leaves, and enters the old mansion. We hear harsh breathing, and see Angel chained to the wall, on his knees. Buffy walks towards him, and reaches to touch him, as he suddenly becomes violent and growls at her. She runs out of the mansion. Pete and Debbie are talking, and enter a storage room to make out. Scott sees a bottle of a green solution empty, and asks if she drank it. Buffy goes to see the counselor, who is turned around facing the window. Buffy tells him not to turn around, and gushes out about how she needs to talk, and that she is scared. After a while she moves closer, and sees him holding a cigarette that is only ash. The camera shows the counselor in his chair, ripped apart. In the storage closet again, Pete asks her about the bottle. She says that she drained it to help him, and he becomes angry. He breaks the bottles on the shelf, and tells her that he doesn't need it anymore, she does it for him. He then turns into a monster, with veins popping out. He becomes even more angry, and begins to strike her. After a few moments he returns to normal. He's ashamed, and runs towards her to comfort her. She's bleeding on her face, and she hug him. In the library Buffy describes what happened, and Willow is happy. Buffy understands, since this now means that Oz didn't kill Jeff. They ask where Oz is, since it's almost dark and a full moon again. We see Oz around the school fountain, as he gives Debbie his notes, and asks about her black eye. Pete watches them. Oz enters, and Willow jumps up to hug him. Oz says that both the victims had Debbie in common, and they come to the conclusion that Pete must be the murderer. They go to find Pete and Debbie, and Oz locks himself in the cage. Buffy and Willow enter the changeroom and see Debbie. They confront her, and she finally tells them that it's not Pete's fault, it's hers, and she makes him angry. At the mansion Angel struggles against the chains, and finally breaks free. In the cage Oz paces, waiting to become a werewolf. Pete enters, and accuses him of making the moves on Debbie. Oz tells him that now is not a good time, since it's almost sunset. Pete tells him that he won't live to see the sunset. Pete breaks the cage door open, and throws Oz out. In the changeroom Debbie repeats "He loves me" over and over, as Willow and Buffy leave. Back in the library Pete throws Oz onto a table, breaking it. They fight for awhile, until Oz looks out the window and sees that it's dark. Oz then says to Pete, "Times up, rules change." Oz turns into a werewolf and attacks Scott. Buffy, Faith, Willow, Debbie, and Giles hear the fight, and enter the library. Buffy grabs the tranquilizer gun, and goes to shoot Oz. Debbie thinks that she's aiming for Pete, and knocks the gun as she fires. The dart hits Giles, and he collapses. Pete and Oz run out, Buffy running after Pete while Willow and Faith chase Oz. Pete escapes through a window, and meets Debbie. He's mad at her for telling Buffy about him, and fights her. Buffy sees where Pete escape, and chases after him. Entering the room where Pete and Debbie were, she sees Debbie dead on the floor. Pete attacks her from behind. Faith manages to shoot Oz, and he falls asleep. Pete keeps fighting Buffy, when all of a sudden the door breaks open and Angel enters. Seeing Buffy hurt on the floor he charges after Pete, and kills him. He stares at Buffy for a few minutes, and walks towards her. As he does his face changes, and he gets his human face back. Angel stares at he and says one word, "Buffy?". He collapses to his knees and hugs her, as Buffy stands shocked, crying. The next day at school the gang talks about the several stories that are going around about Pete. The true story was that he was afraid Debbie was going to leave him, so he came up with a Dr. Jackel/Mr. Hyde formula. After using it several times, he managed to change without it. Buffy sees Scott and goes to talk to him. Scott is sad and depressed, now that his two friends are dead. Scott talks about how you never know what is going on inside of someone. The camera runs through a forest with a full moon again, with a Buffy voiceover. In the mansion we see Angel fast asleep on the ground, with Buffy leaning on the wall looking at him. | |
