Kendra was called as the slayer because Buffy died in the season finaly. And as the result of that, another slayer was born.
We first see Kendra when she tries to kill Angel, and then goes after Buffy claiming that SHE is the slayer!
Kendra doesn't like that Buffy and her friends know her true identity, she believes that it is wrong for them to know, and she also hates Angel, well she almost killed him!.
Kendra returned to Sunnydale to help Buffy fight Angel against Agatha, but as a result of her good will, Drusilla Killed her by slashing her neck.
Now that Kendra has gone, yep another slayer has been called.......Faith.
