Xander Harris aka Alexander is Willows best friend, he is going out with the most popular girl in Sunnydale High, Cordelia Chase, however in the season finaly (season2) he admitted that he is in love with Willow, but she was in a coma at teh time and didn't hear.
Xander is generally the scaredy cat of the group, but when it comes down to the crunch he can be very strong.
he still wanted to Kill Angel, mainly cause he is jealous of Buffys realtionship with him.
Xander: "How can I say this clearly? I don't like you. At the end of the day, I pretty much think you're a vampire. But Buffy's got this big old yen for you. She thinks you're a real person. And right now I need you to prove her right.
"
Angel: "You love her."
Xander: "Don't you?"
Xander: "You were looking at my neck."
Angel: "What?"
Xander: "You were checking out my neck. I saw that."
Angel: "No, I wasn't."
Xander: "Just keep your distance, pal."
Angel: "I wasn't looking at your neck."
Xander: "I told you to eat before we left."
Wendell: "I don't know what to say about that."
Xander: "There's nothing to say. You saw two hundred insects. You gonzoed. Anybody would've."
Wendell: "They're not insects. They're arachnids."
Xander: "They're from the Middle East?"
"All right! Someone else's loss is my chocolatey goodness."
