Oceanfires: Shadrach I´ve heard of such things aswell. The horrible truth is that in studies done of women recalling their worst intimate moments their levels of oxytocin dropped at the very memories brought up. So with instances such as the children of whom you speak, and children who´ve suffered physical abuse, their oxytocin levels naturally drop when touch is attempted. Its very sad, and I hope can be overcome with loving spiritted communications like yours! *VBS* {{{hugs}}}

As you state, when the stable family system is fundamentally loving...it's easy to pull from that never-ending resource and give out of it...for one knows it's never going away...but it makes for "receiving" outside of the loving unit, more challenging. Fortunately i've broken out of the barrier...somewhat,,,but have a few family members that won't or can't. Tightly knit family.

Ten2Ten: Many people do not realize that the snowshoe can be used for a great many things besides walking on snow. For instance, it can be used to carry pancakes from the stove to the breakfast table. Also, it can be used to carry uneaten pancakes from the table to the garbage. Finally, it can be used as a kind of strainer, where you force pancakes through the strings to see if a piece of gold got in a pancake somehow.

Shadrach: Oceanfires, it was not until my mid 20's that I realized how unique the environment was in my childhood. Often we speak from the point of our experiences. My mind cannot fathom being an only child. Does not compute. Was raised with varying opinions...respect of them, so in many ways...was a genuine gift offered at an early age...that some don't learn till adulthood comes.
