What it's all about |
| Qualifying was the most exciting of the season so far, despite contributions from our Nige. With 5 minutes to the end of the session, on a drying track, Murray is bound to be going mental. Check out his various predictions as drivers approached the end of their laps* ! | ||
| nigel.wav | 76 | Wisdom from the master..."whoever qualifies well here today will start the race in the best position" ! Note Murray's "gravel trap in my throat" tones. |
| nigel2.wav | 46 | Nigel seems to be trying on the waste paper bin as a crash helmet.... |
| nigel3.wav | 57 | Things must have got pretty bad for ol' Nige if he needs Murray to explain what happens in qualifying. |
| nigel4.wav | 79 | Is anyone there...? Nige fails to respond to MW's dramatic build up. |
| msnotfirst.wav* | 26 | MS doesn't take pole. |
| nottrulli.wav* | 18 | Trulli doesn't take pole. |
| rbnotpole.wav* | 31 | Rubens doesn't take pole. He did later, of course. Nice one. |
| rsfirst.wav* | 43 | Ralf does takes pole (for a brief moment) |
| rbnotsenna.wav | 46 | A typical Murray Walker non-sequitur.....! |
| bingo.wav | 41 | Bingo!....as someone else (this time Villeneuve) briefly takes pole |
| fourth.wav | 21 | Fourth equal ? |
| lastbit.wav | 459 | A long clip, but worth it to capture Murray's excitement as qualifying reaches a climax, culminating in 5th for Jenson "Megastar" Button ! |
| Pre -race blither. With two great contibutions from motor sport enthusiast/Oscar Wilde impersonator Stephen Fry | ||
| 3forhhf.wav | 40 | Why Murray is unique...not just nonsense, but completely self- contradictory as well! |
| balls.wav | 35 | Martin lobs one up nicely for Stephen Fry, who naturally doesn't miss the opportunity |
| juancarlos.wav | 36 | The worst puns of the weekend...Could Stephen be in the running for a job when Murray retires ? |
| weather.wav | 61 | ..... and Tony Jardine puts in his bid for the job..... |
| bunny.wav | 53 | Just when you thought you knew the man.......! Murray's confessions of a debauched youth |
| And then there's the actual race.... | ||
| start.wav | 106 | GO.................! |
| lap1.wav | 43 | Top five close together at the end of Lap 1 |
| buttonzips.wav | 57 | Although Jenson had a lighter fuel load, his close running of Mika - and leading him after the first pit stops - was pretty impressive |

| doingwell.wav | 22 | Well obviously........ |
| secret.wav | 54 | Murray gets chopped just when he's about to reveal a Ferrari secret (something to do with them running a different fuel mix ?!) |
| dcleads.wav | 66 | Note the stunned silence as the team realise they have just missed filming D.C. taking Rubens at Stowe - the passing move of the race. |
| rbspins.wav | 49 | Poor Rubens spins on his own juice (hydraulic that is ) |
| strategy.wav | 36 | James Allen explains Ferrari's startingly strategy ! |
| orange.wav | 28 | Vitamin C for the Orange |
| dcblither.wav | 95 | Whilst Martin blithers, note Murray 's surprise at D.C. pitting although he had told us he was doing so not 10 secs before ! |
| dcpasthhf.wav | 54 | More excitement really about JB in third than DC in first.... |
| praisebutton.wav | 97 | ....and more praise for Button's first GB GP |
| horse.wav | 24 | O.K., HHF looks like a horse, but Louise is rather unkind to point it out. I wonder if he's been getting enough oats recently....... |
| mikavdc.wav | 88 | Will Mika be allowed to pass DC...and who are these people of whom Martin speaks rather mysteriously ? |
| finish.wav | 150 | Fine win for David, third for "The Fly", and a good Fifth for the Boy Button. |
| comfortable.wav | 25 | ...and he was comfortable with that. But he was also clearly keen to do even better in races to come. |
