The year was 1976. Volkswagen enthusiasism was around every corner.Hell, Volkswagens themselves were around evey corner.Attendence at VW events was peaking and even NHRA/IHRA had a soft spot for Volkswagens.It was then that Scooter Heaton, TEAM MAGIC'S charter member and "Grand Wizzard", drove Bug Magic to a IHRA world record for the M/G class at an E.T. of 11.32 @ 115 mph.Not shabby at all for only 123 cubic inches of pump and technology of two and a half decades ago.It was in August of 1976 that Hot VW's Magazine (then called "Volkswagen,Greats") featured Scooter's recently finished ride(see links below).Bug Magic has long been retired, but it still exist as a museum quality piece in the hands of Scooter.
