" My Hero "
Portraits in the Clouds
By: Kelly Keckler
Now and forever there will always seem to be;
The shadow of my "heroes", forever watching over me.
Filling up my mind like a rainbow in the sky;
To gently touch my heart, yet, I often wonder why.
As I look way up high to the clouds up above;
I see a special place that is certainly filled with love.
Much to my surprise, smiling faces I do see;
The shadow of my "heroes", forever watching over me.
Gazing at the clouds, spread out from here to there;
I see pictures of my father, and my brother everywhere.
A vision, I recall, quite often it will show;
Even far from home, endlessly will grow.
It forms into a bear, a star, or just a tree;
Yet, these precious faces appear and keep smiling back at me.
Some may not believe, yet, they try to see it too;
But only hearts of love, will see it like "I" do.
I see portraits in the clouds, it leaves no empty space;
A Father and a brother, or an angels' smiling face.
It's a vision that will last...and will never go away;
For it gently soothes my heart with every passing day.
Now I know the reason for these clouds I always see;
It's my father William, and brother Hershell, forever watching over me.
So, I'm sending a special message, high above the sky so blue;
"You're my Hero's and I miss you! and...I will always be smiling back at you!
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle Autumn's rain.
When you wake in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the stars that shine at night.
So do not stand at my grave and cry,
For I am not there, I did not die.
