How-To Install a Short Shifter
1. Remove the shift knob by unscrewing it off the shift handle.
2. Then remove the center console by unscrewing the screws found along the side and under the plate under the E-Brake.
3. Get under the car (support the car with jack-stands!!) and locate the shift handle end.
4. Once you've located the shifter, unbolt the bolt going through the shifter and the transmission arm.
5. Next is the removal of the stock shifter from the car. To do this locate 2 bolts found parallel to the exhaust.
6. You may need a second person to hold the top of these bolts with pliers in order to loosen the nut underneath. Once those 2 bolts have been removed you may now pull the shifter down and out.
7. Before you put the new shifter in, get the old rubber seal/grommet (or a new one) from the stock one and get it on the new handle.
8. Once that is finished you may now insert the new handle through the floor and up. Reuse the bolts that secured the plate around the shifter ball to secure the new one.
9. Now, reattach the transmission arm using the bolt and bushing (if included) from the new shift kit.
10. Put the center console back and put on the stock shift knob or a shift knob of your choice.
