Lest you think I'm just a good ole boy having fun, let me assure you my job is deadly serious. If I can just prevent one driver from winding up like these folks I'll consider my job well done.
Hit by a Fire Truck going about 35 MPH, this driver failed to yield the right of way despite the horns and sirens. DOA at scene.

Not much to look at is it? This driver was DUI and driving over his head. Why? Because the girl he was with would not go to a motel with him for a little fun. He's dead. Two injured. He struck another Honda head on at about 50ish. The other driver survived as did the Drunk Driver's passenger, but both were hurt severely.
And yet another fatal. Car's nearly cut in two. Driver was speeding and lost control going STRAIGHT!! Don't recall if this one was DUI or not. It's been awhile.
This is only a very small sampling of what we as cops have to deal with. Not only do we have to investigate the collision we usually have to break the news to family or loved ones. THAT'S why I believe in "Enforcement for SAFETY, not REVENUE"
This is the Honda struck by the OTHER Honda above. Hard to believe but this driver survived because she was wearing her seat belt, the air bag deployed and Honda's crumple zones performed admirably.
Front view of the car above. The photo doesn't really do it justice, but you can see the impact was severe at the least. Just driving home minding her own business. Sober. She never had a chance to avoid the collision. Didn't even remember it. Young girl in her 20s, scarred for life.
Nobody was hurt here, but it sure looks bad. Had a lot of potential for injury though.
The driver of the sports car was minding his own business when the truck ran over him.
Just a closer view.
