Restaurant Review
Well, not a review really but a hearty rec ommendation.
My wife, Julie, stumbled across this little Mexican restaurant in Orange, CA. If you're in the area I recommend you stop in. Family owned and run, it has some of THE best Mexican food I've ever eaten and I consider myself somewhat of an expert on inexpensive Mexican food; that's nearly all there is in the community in which I work.
If you're looking for fancy decor or ambiance, forget it. If you're looking for great food, stop in. Their carne asada burritos are terrific and my wife's favorite is their "Huarache", a kind of sandwich, NOT to be confused with the sandals we used to wear. Their fresh fruit drinks are tasty and refreshing. Depending on what they have on hand, you can get horchata (rice water), watermelon, strawberry, tamarind or even cantaloupe. They've got a dish called "Alambre" that consists of peppers and various meats covered in melted Mexican cheese. They give you enough for 10 soft tacos, but you don't need the tortillas; the mixture is perfect as is. The quesadilla is definitely different. If you're used to a coupla tortillas and some skimpy filling, try these. A thick tortilla made with two types of masa flour, LOADED, with the gooodies of your choice. Oh, they have a fairly extensive vegetarian menu as well.
It's hard to say enough about this place. Go, enjoy and watch the rugby or soccer on TV. Tell 'em you saw them on the web.
