The Characters of Kenshin
The Good Guys:
Rurouni Kenshin: He's
a wanderer who came across Kaoru's path and adopted him to her Dojo. He is fond
of children and is very patient. He cooks very well, a polite fellow
and a gentleman. But underneath all that, he conceals his identity as
Hitokiri Battousai, a greatly feared slasher at the end of Tokugawa era. He's
one of those rare samurais in the Meiji era where one carries a sword. He vowed
to himself he would never kill anyone again. That's why he's using a reverse
edge sword and his Hiten Mitzuruki style that only makes the enemy
unconscious.
Kamiya Kaoru:She is the sensei of the KamiyaDojo bearing the Kamiya Kesshin style which she inherited from her father. A very strong woman. Abit possessive of Kenshin....okay, okay, she's really possessive of Kenshin. She's so kind on letting Kenshin, Yahiko and Sano stay at her Dojo indefinitely. Besides on having more mouths to feed those three can be of real help to her.
Myojin Yahiko: Yohiro
(or Yoshi) is an orphaned son of a great Samurai. He was tricked by a group of
thieves to work hard labor for them, and learned the tricks of the trade as
well. He was rescued by both Kaoru and Kenshin and stayed with them since. While
staying there, he learned the Kamiya Kendo technique by Kaoru and was able to
defend himself. I say he's a strong swordsman, for a ten year old.
Sagara Sanosuke: He's
a member of ___group who was falsely accused of misleading public trust. He
hated the government for its forces killed the whole group along with his
sensei. His weapon-- a very huge Sakaga which was broken a lot of times. He
relied on his phiysical strength ever since. He also eats a lot, having long
list of credits at his favorite restaurant and lets Kaoru pay the bill most of
the time.
Tanaka Megumi: Before
she met Kenshin and co. she's just another person who hangs on to drastic
measures just to survive. She was trading an addictive drug called opium, and
was being chased by a major gang. The leader asked the Oni gang leader Aoshi to
capture her. She was rescued by Kenshin and oh my she felt attraction to
our hero which drives Kaoru nuts. She was able to get out of her past life and
became the most trusted doctor at their town.
Machimaki Misao: One
of the members of Oni group. Aoshi sort of adopted her and was brought to Okina.
She looked up to Aoshi very much. Sheliterally tagged along Kenshin toward to
Edo thinking the latter might have the answer about what happened. But, after
she learned of Aoshi's plans, especially after Aoshi stabbed Okina, she felt
really disgusted and assumed leadership if the Oni group.
Shinomori Aoshi: Was
once aleader of the Oni gang. But always has the urge on challenging Battousai.
He has been looked up to by the Oni group who know nothing but being a swordsman
(Aoshi formed it actually). He just wants to know if he's better than Kenshin
and won't accept the fact that he's only second place. And to satisfy that urge
, he even joined Shishio's group for it. Sheesh! He just can't let the killing
get out of his system. Why can't he listen to Kenshin? Hmmm....
Saito Hajime: Saito
is a member of the police at the Meiji era. He asked for Kenshin's help to block
Shishio's plans. One funny thing about him is that, he doen't look funny
but his sense of humor is.....@^@!!ow Whenhe first met the babbling Misao, he
thought of all the girls in Kenshin's life "So who is
that?...Kaoru(?)<cat>...Megumi(?)<squirrel>....Misao(?)...."WEASEL!!!"
He's quite a show off and Sano always hated his guts.
Seijuro Hiko: Kenshin's mentor. Didn't first grant Kenshin's request of learning a new technique from him. But after realizing Kenshin's intentions, he was able o teach him the final and complicated technique of the Hiten Mitzuruki.
The Bad Guys:
Makoto Shishio: He is the ruthless character of all. Wants to take over the whole of Japan so he could run it with crooks, murderers and corrupt politicians as part of his political line-up.
Seta Soujiro: Shishio's right hand man. He also kills with no mercy, but I just found out he had a dark past. I didn't know for sure if he was convinced by Kenshin to straighten himself up. He's very strong for a young boy*, coz he was able to break Kenshin's sword during their fight.
