Patlabor Characters
Captain Kiichi Goto: is the chief in charge of Unit 2. He is always
relaxed and laid-back. He seems to know exactly what he is doing and how the
manipulate the officer's under his command in doing exactly want he want's them
to do. He is very cunning and secretive about his strategies, and doesn't
divulge his plans unless he needs to. He also has a certain attachment to
Shinobu Nagumo, who is the chief of the First Unit.
Asuma Shinohara: "backup" commander of car no. 1. He is bright
and very good at solving mysteries or conspiracies. His father is the president
of Shinohara Heavy Industries, which is the largest manufacturer of labors in
Japan. He and his father don't get along, which is one of the reason for him
joining the SV2.
Noa Izumi: is the "forward" labor pilot of car no. 1. She is a
very good pilot and really loves labors. She treats her labor as if it were a
pet, she even named it "Alphonse", after a pet dog she used to have
when she was a kid. She is reluctant to risk damage to Alphonse and yet she
prefers hand to hand combat rather than use the labors revolver.
Hiromi Yamazaki: is the "carrier" driver in car no.1. Although
he is a giant of a man he is quiet and gentle. He loves nature and grows
tomatoes in a garden on the base. Because of his size and couldn't fit into the
labor, which is why he was made as carrier driver.
Kanuka Clancey: "backup" commander of car no. 2. She is a
Sergeant in the New York Police Department and is in Japan training with the
Second Unit for half a year. She is an ace labor pilot and great fighter, that
remains cool during a battle. She is a very good police officer and can speak
both English and Japanese.
Isao Ohta: is the "forward" labor pilot of car no. 2. He is
very devoted to his duty as a police officer. He is a good labor pilot but he is
also reckless and trigger happy. He loves firing the gun on the labor and is
very hot tempered.
Mikiyasu Shinshi: is the "carrier" driver of car no. 2. He is
the only family man in the group with a wife and then later a child. He is a
rather shy and nervous person, but when he loses his temper he also loses his
self control.
Takeo Kumagami: She replace Kanuka in the "backup" command car
when Kanuka returned to New York. She was part of an elite Hong Kong police
force and is a very good officer. She works hard at what she does and is the
perfect replacement for Kanuka Clancy, as in the two are quite alike. She
graduated top of her class and holds the rank of Sergeant.
Shinobu Nagumo: is the chief in charge of the elite First Unit. She is a
good officer and her unit hold a better reputation than that of the 2nd Unit.
She is aware that her unit's labors are beginning to be outdated and tries to
get new Labors for her unit, which are still using the Asuka 96
"Taisho" Labors and not the new Shinohara 98AV "Ingrams"
like the Second Unit. However due to the cost of the new Labors and the Police
Force budget, her unit will have to make do with the Labors they currently have.
