Ok, that was the real thing, now take a look at a 1:24 scale model of the same car... Pretty neat eh!

The upper body The parts used to create my own set of rims, the spokes were cut out of the back part of a marker pen! The lower body
The model in front of the photo's used to imitate the original

The story: I always wanted a scale model of my CRX, and I knew that Tamiya had a kit for it (see picture below on the left). The problem was, Tamiya ceased production of this particular kit and it wasn't available anymore in the shops. I told this to a friend of mine, who's a scale model enthusiast, and he said he would look around for it. After a few weeks he suddenly appeared at my house. He had found one in a small shop in Scheveningen, covered in layers of dust!!! (thanks again Mark). Since I haven't got the patience nor the skills to put this kit together (some major alterations had to be made) I asked Mark to build it for me. The result of his endeavours is shown in the pictures above.

Alterations made:
Since the kit is japanese, it is righthand drive, so it had to be changed to lefthand drive.
The rims had to be made from scratch.
The real tires are wider, luckily Mark had some spare tires from a Porsche 911 lying about.
The headlights had to be changed from recessed to flush.
The kit had no rear foglights, so they had to be cut out of the bumper.
Some side indicator lights had to be made.
And last but not least, the gearknob had to be replaced with a miniature number 3 poolball!
