California and Northeast Emissions:
On this page we address the concern of our California and Northeast
customers as to the emissions certification required in their State.
Beginning in 2001, all new Corvettes are classed and 50-State LEV
(low emission vehicles), and specifically carry the notation that they
are in compliance with California Regulations. This means that a
vehicles with FE9 emissions certification may be registered in any
of the 50 states. Vehicles shipped from factory to California carry
the emissions certification YF5, but mechanically are no different from
FE9 vehicles. Be aware that some California DMV's still will require
a smog check on a 2001-2002 FE9 vehicles.....a carryover from the
old days.....while other branches don't even question the matter.
The Northeast States have adopted California regulations.
