: bob youd bet that the volume on my calipers from the wing was less than the ones id taken off : in hydraulics its not the volume that is important but the sq inches of the piston the actual volume which includes the length of the cylinder has no effect : and in this case the cylinder i took off were about im guessing here 7/8 dia which is about .601 sq in and the calipere were about 1 3/8 which is about 4.3 sq inches : and the more sq in on the cylinder side or less sq inches on the pump or mc side the more pressure is exerted out for the same pressure or force in : example look at a bottle jack a 4 ton jack s a much larger diameter piston than a 1 or 2 ton jack : hope this makes some hydraulic cents :I hear you Stacy.I said "volume" and you like "square inches"volume is what the piston displaces. If you really think about what i said it's what you repeated,The master cylinder needs to be bigger than the slave cylinder it's moving.I was just tying to help but i'll leave that to you. b.lazar.
