~ Pete's RoIO Collection ~
These recordings are not for sale!
Looking for these...
- Any recordings of Radiohead,
especially August 13, 2003, Tweeter Center, Mansfield, MA.
I attended this outstanding concert and would love to hear it again!
I'm pretty much on the sidelines with trading music these days. The amount of flawed discs (digi noise, snaps, gaps) that I have received in trades over the last few years unfortunately has far outweighed the number of clean discs. If I do not respond to a trade inquiry, there's an excellent chance you have sent me coasters in the past. If you are new to trading music, I will do my best to hook you up with a Blanks and Postage trade.
Cheers,
Pete

Any cuts are noted where applicable.
I only trade for Taiyo Yuden, TDK, Sony, Kodak, Fuji, or Mitsui CD-Rs.

"Trading Etiquette Summary"
All the details on the shows in my collection are honest and as accurate as possible. Please use good media like Kodak, TDK, Mitsui, Sony; avoid no-name crapola. Don't extract higher than 8X, as this could lead to clicks and pops on the disc. If you can't burn DAO (DAO means "disc-at-once") then we ain't trading! I prefer shipping without cases. Please protect the discs using tissue paper or plastic sleeves, and send along a note with your name, e-mail addy, and some general info on the show. If possible, please mark the disc number with a permanent marker on the clear inside ring of the CDR for identification purposes. NEVER tape anything to the CD-R, as this could damage the disc upon removal. I can scan/print any artwork if necessary.
"Good Trader Alert"
If we've traded and you haven't sent me coasters for discs, I'll add a link with your e-mail address or trading page URL; just ask! I don't always have the time to trade, so it's a good way to recommend other traders. Note: this is just a small portion of the good people I have traded with in the past...I only put links to traders who want to be here.

Reviews for some Led Zeppelin shows on this list are from the
Underground Uprising web site.
Led Zeppelin - 207.19; Double LP set.
Live in Seattle March 21st, 1975 and *Boston September 1970.
Fair audience recording for Seattle, poor audience recording for the Boston show. Godwin rates the Seattle show as an 8; I would say
a solid 7 out of 10. For the Boston show, however, Godwin has it right
on the money with a 5 out of 10 rating for sound quality. WWL medoly and CB are from the Boston show.

Led Zeppelin - Not Warm, Its Hot; 3 CD set.
Disc 1: Intro, Rock and Roll, Over The Hills and Far Away, Black Dog, Misty Mountain Hop, Since Ive Been Loving You, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song
Disc 2: Dazed & Confused, Stairway to Heaven
Disc 3: Whole Lotta Love, Heartbreaker
This is Diagrams second release of the March 24th, 1973 concert in Offenbach, Germany. The previous effort, Sweet At Night , utilized the well-known, excellent tape that was used on Custard Pie. However, according to the previous reviews it was inferior to the Cobra release. This title uses the well know tape and supplements it with a second, inferior source. The second source is used for the beginning announcements and the start of Rock and Roll, for most of Dazed and all of Stairway to Heaven. The rationale behind this was to account for the obvious channel problems on Custard Pie. Further, Diagrams have not equalized the excellent tape as much as Cobla did theirs, making it sound much more dynamic and alive. For this reason, Not Warm, Its Hot is the best version of this show. (Gerard Sparaco, Oct 2001).

Earthworks Records
Led Zeppelin - Trampled Underwood; 3 CD set.
Nassau County Coliseum, Uniondale, New York, February 13, 1975
CD 1: (66:52) introduction/ Rock & Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying (last second or two cut), The Song Remains the Same (muffled in beginning with speed problems throughout, cut near the beginning), The Rain Song (beginning cut, close up audience noise picked up in beginning, speed problems), Kashmir (ending cut, possible speed problems), No Quarter (beginning cut, cut near end, last second or two cut)
CD 2: (75:54) Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick (cut at beginning of drum solo), Dazed & Confused (includes San Francisco) (cut at beginning of bow solo)
CD 3: (34:57) Stairway to Heaven (speed problems in various locations), Whole Lotta Love (ending cut), Black Dog (beginning cut) (includes vocal rehearsal for Roll Over Beethoven), Communication Breakdown
The audience tapes used for this release are clear and push very good for overall sound quality. The sound for the first tape source is a little flat though. This becomes evident when tape sources change for the encore. All the instruments are discernable. Jone's bass does comes through a little heavy in places. But not enough to distort the tape. There is some noticeable high frequency tape hiss. It pretty much dissipates at the start of The Song Remains the Same where tapes are changed. Unfortunately the new tape drags and is not as bright. The speed problem runs through The Rain Song. It is hard to tell because of the instrumentation, but Kashmir may also have speed problems. The tape returns back to the same quality it was prior to The Song Remains the Same at the start of No Quarter. The high frequency tape hiss also returns. Tape speed problems are also evident during Stairway to Heaven. They go away after a cut between Stairway to Heaven and Whole Lotta Love. Communication Breakdown (announced as an old Led Faces number) comes from a brighter tape source. It too contains some high frequency tape hiss. Communication Breakdown is also available on Gems and Jams (no label). It comes from a higher generation tape and consequently is not as bright. The presence of Ron Wood duelling with Page on Communication Breakdown swings this release to the general collector. (Tony Gassett June 97)

Good audience recording.
"If you pass up on this one, you're not missing much" is the war cry from the purists; however, what they don't realize was that this concert was performed during a rainstorm in an open air stadium! Taking that into consideration, it's an excellent recording. A great "Poles Apart" and "One of These Days" on this set. The encore does have Richard Wright falling asleep at the keyboards a few times though; but all in all a good show.

Excellent Sound Board recording of Sound Check Rehearsals; but please note that the CD is a bad edit of the original source tape. Time ends abruptly in Breathe (Reprise), Money also cuts out early. Neither of these flaws are in the circulating tape. Us and Them and Money are reversed from their true order. A lot of dialogue and improvisation/messing around are cut from the CD. Worst of all, it is missing Comfortably Numb, the last song performed at the sound-check. There is a brief drop out in the first verse of Wish You Were Here (that is present when the source tape got to 45 minutes and ran out). A total of maybe 15 minutes is missing from the CD.
Pressed on gold foil.

Pink Floyd - Out Of This World; 2 CD set.
Live at Earl's Court, London, October 20, 1994.
Floyd played 14 sold-out shows at their stay at Earl's Court!
INSERT: Folded; front consists of a different portion of the same painting which was used for "The Live Bell," with CD and band names in wavy pink script. Booklet opens out into a color concert photo montage and a KTS product catalog. TRAY LINER: Abstract sepia-toned graphic with tracklist; inner surface has color photo of Mr. Screen with "Pink Floyd" superimposed. Definately recorded from the European premiere, this issue also has the interference which marks SOYCD on the Xref CD "For Whom The Bell Tolls," though here it seems somewhat less obtrusive. Furthermore, OOTD and Run Like Hell are not subject here to the frustratingly premature fading out which is to be heard on the competing CD, although Eclipse is segued (albeit neatly) into WYWH. Of the two issues, this one is the more satisfying.
Excellent Sound Board recording.

Perviously thought to be a recording of a Floyd COVER BAND, it is in fact Pink Floyd. Why the confusion; because the NY gig is speeded up about 2 tones up or more! Roger Waters sounds like Phil Collins! The second CD is not so far off, and the Ford Auditorium show is Super Rare.

Led Zeppelin - Gonzaga 68; 1 CD-R set.
Live at Gonzaga University, 12/30/68.
A real rarity, the only confirmed 1968 show. This single disc incomplete audience recording is from Gonzaga University, Spokane, Washington on December 30. The end of Dazed is cut and a fade out occurs as the band returns following the Pat's Delight drum solo. Overall the sound is muffled and distorted, with some bass overload. Fortunately the vocals are clear if a little distant and the guitar becomes more audible at the start of I can Quit You. Plant voice is superb, really grabbing those high notes and White Summer despite a bit of hiss sounds fresh and inventive. An excellent version of Dazed is very close to the arrangement on the first album. Probably one for the more serious collector. (Tony Gassett Oct 97)

Led Zeppelin - Stroll On; 1 CD-R set.
July 25th, 1969 - West Allis, Wisconsin - 2ndgen->DAT->CDR
Excellent audience recording. There are gaps between some tracks, but I was told this was on the master as well. All songs are complete and uncut. The bootleg CD of this show, "Stroll On," the cuts happen a few seconds before the cue stops, on the ZD Project tree the cue stops were placed at the cuts. The cuts were made by the original taper at the concert. As for the quality issue, there is very little difference in quality in my opinion between the ZD Project and Stroll On. I listened very closely with a good set of headphones and "Stroll On" has slightly more hiss than the tree version. It seems that TDOLZ may have sourced the master for their release on perhaps a 1st gen copy.

Track List(51:38).Whole Lotta Love/Communication Breakdown/C'mon Everybody/Something Else/Bring It On Home /How Many More Times(The Hunter/Boogie Woogie/High Flyin'Momma/Leave My Woman Alone/Lemon Song / That's Alright).
Single-CD from the Royal Albert Hall on January 9 1970.Allegedly sourced from a new AM master, this is the soundboard recording previously available. The sound quality is indeed sharper and brighter only slightly compressed when compared to a no-label release I own, with absolutely no hiss at all.The only minor flaw is that this release has some faint pops throughout, only noticeable while listening upclose. The quality improvement is not great but certainly very enjoyable, and with the added bonus that this is not a reissue expensively packaged.Nice pictures from the event on the outside of a standard CD case, out of place pictures from the Lyceum '69 gig on the inside. My copy doesn't have a transparent CD holder so a photograph is covered underneath. For the slightly-below-average asking price and the excellent sound quality of a legendary performance, this is worth having for collectors old and new (Rosina Diaz Scali Nov 99)

Disc 2:

Running time: 110 minutes (either two CDRs or one 60m DAT).
Seed source (for CDR): Reel master -> EQ -> 1st gen analog tape -> CDR
Tree Notes:
The source is the usual fair/good audience recording with the guitar dominating the sound and Plant remaining in the background for better part of the concert. This may not be an ideal choice for beginners but more seasoned collectors will most likely appreciate this upgraded version. Some people may again disagree with the tape being EQ'd but the main motivation for this was to remove the excessive tape hiss that exists on the master itself. As the EQ'ing was done very carefully, I believe that the results should satisfy the majority of fans (well, at least usually so critical Tomislaw was happy with it :). The 44.1 kHz 1st>DAT that has been around for about a year now was taken from the same 1st gen tape but for this tree I arranged a new 48 kHz transfer (sound quality wise there is probably no need to upgrade from 44.1 kHz version but at least the 48 kHz transfer is now made available).

Disc 2: Since I've Been Loving You, organ solo/Thank You, What Is and What Should Never Be, Moby Dick, How Many More Times (cut...)
March 7th, 1970 at the Grand Casino in Montreaux. This comes from the excellent audience recording of this show. All of the other titles used the vinyl source. But here, the master tape has been used which is a significant upgrade. Also, for the first time, the original running order has been restored (previous releases have put White Summer after I Can't Quit You). This recording has all of the virtues of both soundboard and audience. Definitely recommended. (Gerard Sparaco Jan 2000)>

Led Zeppelin - Memphis; 2 CD-R set.
17-Apr-70 Memphis
"Memphis 1970"- Neptune Label. April 17, 1970 Memphis, Tennessee MidSouth Coliseum.
Disc 1:Tapers Intro- Were Gonna Groove, Dazed and Confused, Heartbreaker, Bring it On Home, White Summer- Black Mountain Side, Since Ive Been Loving You, Organ Solo- Thank You, What is and What Should Never Be
Disc 2: Moby Dick, How Many More Times( incl. Going Down, Ravels Bolero, The Hunter, Boogie Woogie, Trucking Little Mama, Memphis Tennessee, My Baby dont Law, Ramble On, Tobacco Road, MessO Blues, Thats Alright), Whole Lotta Love-Tapers Outro
A real rarity, the source tape for this show begins, and ends, with a message from the taper himself: "This is...um.. April the 17th. And, uh... this is the uh... 1970... and this is the day of the Led Zeppelin...uh... concert. And so uh... in preparation for that, I am starting this tape. And the next sounds you will hear will come... uh... live at 8pm tonight from the Midsouth Coliseum, presenting two hours of the Led Zeppelin..."
Oh, what a show that taper captured! As for the sound quality, the tape source is on the higher end of good. All instruments are easily discernable and in good balance, and the audience noise is very minimal. The sound is slightly muffled, but has good clarity and definition. The gen tape used for this show is mono, so it does not fill the stereo spectrum very well. However, this release is still extremely enjoyable and all songs are complete, except that the taper pushed pause in between every song. Fortunately, Only Bring It on Home and What is and What should Never Be is cut in a couple of seconds late, and all other songs are edited together nicely, so that the listener barely notices.
While in Memphis, the band are made honorary citizens and given the keys to the city. This supposedly comes in handy later as it is also at this show that Peter Grant is held at gunpoint backstage by the promoter during the How Many More Times medley, who demands that he pull the band offstage to avoid an audience frenzy. Grant reportedly responds "You can't shoot me, ya c*nt. They've just given us the f*cking keys to the city," and the band play on! Plant is later interrupted onstage by the announcer twice during the medley, to which he makes an appeal to the audience to get off the chairs and rails. He jokes about the chairs being for the hockey games held at the venue and carries on. Before a fantastic Whole Lotta Love he again begs the audience to not get on the chairs and jokes: "For Godsakes!" And the show ends and we hear once again from the taper: " So ends the greatest concert that Ive ever heard...April 17th, 1970." Incidentally, this show ends up being the tour closer, as Plant would collapse of exhaustion onstage in Phoenix the next night, thus canceling the rest of the tour. After a show like this, I cant say I blame him. (Mike Magnon Mar 02)

Led Zeppelin - Black Velvet; 4 CD-R set.
Note: Belfast is a very good audience recording, but has major tape dragging noises during the end of Stairway To Heaven, as well as the beginning of Going To California. These are from the Master Source.
A little information about the title Black Velvet, named after the drink the band was drinking after the shows. This title was released by the Empress Valley Supreme Disc label and consists of 4 CD's. The first show consists of the world premiere of March 5, 1971, Ulster Hall, Belfast, Ireland. The show has the world premiere of the following songs, Black Dog, Stairway To Heaven, Going To California and Rock & Roll. The tape is a very good audience recording, distortion in places, also the end of Stairway has a little bit of tape noise. The beginning of Going To California also has this problem. That is the majority of the problems, all in all, sounds better with repeated listening. The Belfast show is from the master, recorded with a Philips cassette recorder with built in condenser mike. The cassette used was a Scotch C-120 Dynarange.

Newcastle City Hall, England, November 11 1971.
It was the first date of the UK Winter Tour to promote the release of the fourth album, which would be released within a few days of this show. The discs are from the best source available, supplied by the actual taper. The master tape was tried but could not be used due to deteriation. Fortunately the taper made a copy before the master was unusable. There has been no processing or editing in the transfer. This is a straight digital copy of the original 1st. gen.

Immigrant Song/Heartbreaker/Black Dog/Since I've Been Loving You/Rock & Roll/Stairway To Heaven/That's The Way/Going To California/Tangerine/*Dazed & Confused/*What Is & What Should Never Be/*Celebration Day
The show is described as a very good audience recording & is uncirculated in this quality and length. A shorter, lower quality segment was previously available as "Teddy Bears Picnic" (unknown label) first released in January of '99 (?). As you can see there are 3 additional songs including D&C on this new source that were not released with TBP. The final segment of the show - Whole Lotta Love & Communication Breakdown was recorded by the taper but unfortunately as been lost through the years. :(

There is the typical on/off switching of the recorder between songs, resulting in the beginning of most songs being slightly truncated. Still, even with these glitches, a good performance to have! Audience recording.

Charlotte, North Carolina, June 9, 1972. This title uses the common tape that has been released several times before. Unlike the IQ title, the beginning of Immigrant Song is complete. It sounds like TDOLZ have used a very low generation tape, making this a very crisp and enjoyable mono audience recording. And this is a wonderful show. Very slow and deliberate. It isn't as wired as the shows later in the tour (Seattle and Los Angeles). Two peculiarites of this show are: this show has the only know Celebration Day from the 1972 U.S. tour, and there is no medley in Whole Lotta Love. During the theremin section, someone (Plant??) bangs out some notes on the piano which sounds very interesting.(Gerard Sparaco July 2000)

This release uses a recently circulated, low generation audience tape as its source. There are only a few intrusions of audience noise, but they are tolerable. The instruments are well balanced and clear despite the recording sounding a bit distant. The distance may have been due to the position of the recorder. Most likely the recorder was on the floor. CD 6: (57:03) Moby Dick (cut in middle of drum solo, two separate dropouts near end of drum solo), Heartbreaker, Whole Lotta Love (includes Boogie Woogie), The Ocean
A fair audience recording is used for this release. The recording is distant, giving everything a slight echo. This lessens the clarity of instruments. But it is still listenable, but probably no more than once. There is very little tape hiss on this source. Plant has to calm the audience down during Over the Hills and Far Aways guitar introduction. Plant and Bonham do a quick medley before the start of The Ocean. Even with the less than spectacular audio, you can tell Plant is in very good voice. His efforts at the end of Stairway to Heaven are probably the best of tour. (Brian Ingham Dec 2000)

As a result, there is some noticeable tape hiss. Whilst not having that top end, the LSD version has slightly better bottom end and less hiss. I guess it's the matter of ones preference. A point of note is that, like the other releases that all of a sudden released this source tape a while ago, the first few bass notes of Dazed are cut where as DRAGON filled this is in with an alt source. So I guess some may some D.R.A.G.O.N. is better in this sense. Encores are present on this LSD release (from the alt source). (Lord Byron Nov 99)

The usual cuts are the end of Song Remains The Same, beginning of the Rain Song and the very end of Stairway and the start of Whole Lotta Love - the encores have never appeared on any release. The bass and drums are most prominent throughout, with the vocals being very clear and the guitar mostly in the background, which means sometimes detail is lost. Also there are slight tape disturbances in very short sections in about half the songs - especially the Whole Lotta Love medley.

Reissue of the soundboard recording on a triple set from the show at the Auditorium, New Orleans on May 14, 1973. The sound is very good, with the bass and drums upfront and some signs of tape compression. The start of Rock And Roll is missing, there is a cut in the Rain Song and a dropout in Whole Lotta Love. The playing in this show is a bit variable - Page plays a weird solo in Over The Hills, messes up the Moby Dick intro but does the business in Since I've Loving You - Dazed contains the riff from the Cream version of Crossroads. The solos section of No Quarter is a little too laid back but overall the show gets better towards the end and finishes on a high note in Communication Breakdown. (Tony Gassett June 99)

Source tape is identical to "A worthwhile Experience"/"From Boleskine to the Alamo". Song List of the "Tympani---" is exactly the same as these previously released items. ( "Tympani---" does not contains Dundee materials, which is on "From---". However, "Tympani---" has the following advantages.
1. Pitch is more accurate. ("A worthwhile ---"/"From ---" runs too fast)
2. Contains more chat (e.g. RP's "Good Evening!", just before Stairway)
In terms of the sound quality, I can hardly tell which one is better. "A worthwhile ---"/"From ---" sound a little bit distant, which add "live concert" atmosphere effectively. On the contrary, audio of "Tympani---" is very "raw" and the guitar and the vocal is clearer. When compared the violin bow section of Dazed, "Goin' Mobile" is more excellent in terms of channel separation. But it sound just like recorded in the studio. Both high and low frequency is more enhanced on "A worthwhile ---"/"From ---". Since both of the CDs contains cut in the exactly same portion of Dazed, source tape is without doubt identical, but they may be differently mixed. (Susumu Omi, Nov 96)

Recently release soundboard from the San Diego Sports Arena from May 28, 1973. The soundboard is excellent stereo being let down at the beginning by volume and balance fluctuations between the guitar and vocals. By Celebration Day, it settles down to begin very well balanced and enjoyable, except for the opening of Moby Dick, where either the guitar cuts out altogether or is just so low in the mix to be inaudible (we hear
Jones' bass the melody). The only other let downs on this release is the absence of Dazed & Confused, a cut in No Quarter, several little cuts in Moby Dick, and lots of little cuts in The Rain Song which make it a complete mess. The performance is outstanding. This show contains the longest Whole Lotta Love on the tour.

Excellent version of this audience recording spread onto 3 CDs from the original 2 CD version - The Vibes Are Real. With the usual Cobla emphasis on high end Eq, some unwanted detail is picked up. This is equipment buzz (mains hum), noticeable in No Quarter and particularly in The Rain Song. This audience tape from the St. Paul Centre, St. Paul, Minnesota show on July 9, 1973 is a relatively new 'find'. The sound on this 3 CD set starts off as muffled, distorted and distant - then clears a bit but still gets overloaded in places. There is a cut in Stairway To Heaven and the start of both Heartbreaker and Communication Breakdown are missing. Plants voice starts off very rough and the playing in the No Quarter and Whole Lotta Love instrumental sections might be a bit manic for some tastes. Good solos in Black Dog and Over The Hills, and the Jones basswork in Song Remain is worth a listen. Firecrackers stop Page in the Since I've Been Loving You intro. Worth getting for an unusual 1973 show. (Tony Gassett Mar 99)

Three disc set featuring the Cobo Hall, Detroit show of July 12, 1973 and adding a small part of the Capital Club, Cardiff gig of December 12 1972 as a filler for the third disc, both from audience sources. Detroit is clear, very upfront and with a slight bass emphasis. Most of Rock And Roll and the drum solo in the middle of Moby Dick are missing. There is slight overloading in The Song Remains The Same and elsewhere in the louder parts and also occasional mike handling noise. This show is one of Zep's greatest ever, the playing and singing excellent. Page especially shines in Black Dog, Over The Hills, Since I've been Loving You, Dazed, Stairway and Heartbreaker. Jones features in The Rain Song and Whole Lotta Love. While Bonham is impressive in Since I've Been, Dazed and forcing a funky beat in Communication Breakdown. Plant has obviously recovered from vocal problems at Chicago a few days before. The Cardiff fragment is distant, muffled, distorted and bassy. The sound improves slightly for the Immigrant Song, but only Jones' Mellotron solo before Thank You has any clarity. However, this release is all about Detroit and on that score an essential purchase.

"Seattle Won't You Listen" uses two different audience tape sources to complete this show. The first tape source runs from the beginning through In My Time of Dying. The recording is very clear, but contains a minor amount of audience noise and a fair amount of tape hiss. It is a little bass heavy for the first two songs. But it is nothing that distorts or distracts from the recording. Overall a very good plus recording. Plant doesn't mention Seattle by name after Sick Again. But he does make several references that can only verify Seattle as the location for the first tape source. The second tape source is a "professionally" done, excellent recording. Due to the recorder's location, the audience gets pushed to the rear of the mix while the band is clear and balanced. There is a minor amount of tape hiss to the second tape source. Plant throws in a few lyrics to Louie Louie prior to Whole Lotta Love. This show has previously been released on The Hammer of the Gods (Tarantura) and its CD clone Two Days In Seattle (Whole Lotta Live). An undoctored Seattle Won't You Listen sounds brighter.

Antrabata and Tarantura have the same introductions. They sound like they've been patched together from different tapes (possibly from different nights altogether) and therefore are longer. Antrabata's cuts are in slightly different places. It has at least one additional cut beyond TDOLZ and Tarantura. It also has a slight instance of digital interference 80 seconds into That's the Way. TDOLZ's tape seems to be more reliable when comparing the intro's and cuts. Antrabata claims that the source used was a "Master or 1st generation tape source," but its sound is completely inferior to TDOLZ's.

Between "The Awesome Foursome" (3CD) and "Thunderstorm" (4CD), the latter is more excellent in terms of both sound quality and number of the cut/drop out. This newly released Antrabata stuff is slightly inferior to "Thunderstorm" in terms of sound quality. But on "Thunderstorm", Trampled Underfoot is fade out, while on this newly released Antrabata stuff, the alternate version of the source tape is used for the missing portion of this song (i.e. Gallows Pole section). Unfortunately, sound quality of this alternate tape is poorer that the rest, but at least Antrabata seems to made their effort to provide as complete material as possible. (Susumu Omi, Oct 96)

All the titles seem to be from the same tape source and share most cuts.
The IQ has evidently been amplified which usually brings up a little hiss, but this contains a lot of hiss. The sound level isn't any better than the others. Mud Dog's sound is inferior, its' track list is rearranged to fit the show on 3 CDs, and has an unnecessary cut in Dazed which then repeats a 25 second section. It does contain the full introduction. Antrabata's intro is missing 40 seconds but doesn't have any hiss and sounds very nice. Tarantura is missing the last half note of Rain Song. Overall, it is missing about 15 seconds of tape from between songs. However, it's sound is definitely louder than Antrabata's. It is probably only due to higher EQ, but it makes it more enjoyable to listen to.

When Empress Valley announced they were releasing the infamous Destroyer
(April 27, 1977) recording, I was skeptical (I felt Empress Valley had more class than re-releasing a mediocre show already booted too many times anyway). Well, this title, fortunately, is quite spectacular. As Boot Poisoning mentions, this version has the best sound quality ever (equal to Destroyer 2CD on Archive).Where the Archive version sounds more natural, this EV version sounds a bit crispier - probably due to an equalizing effect (which also causes some hiss). The audience noise after "Trampled Under Foot" is a bit longer, too. This title ends up being a very worthy piece to obtain, even if you have several other titles of this show already.

Audience recording from the Richfield Coliseum in Cleveland Ohio, on April 28 1977. Twenty-four bit remastered, limited edition of a tape close to being excellent, virtually free of hiss, trebly and overloaded at times. The tape shows wear occasionally and presents cuts and edits almost in its entirety. The band is upfront and the clarity of the instruments is very detailed, the bass is a little indistinct at the end. The cuts and edits eliminate most of Plant's comments, miss the first few seconds of many songs, cause tape disturbances when the recording resumes and interrupt two tracks in progress. Before Nobody's Fault the taper curses as he informs he is having problems, a squeal preceeds the first cut, when the recording resumes the first few guitar notes are missing. In My Time is cut briefly in the final vocal a cappella and joined to the last phrase of You Shook Me. No Quaaludes,as introduced by Plant, is cut during the second vocal theme and joined to a couple of seconds of the wha-ed guitar episode, and finally cuts out. Audience noise is minimal, a wise guy is introducing the songs to his mates before Plant, an irreverent yell of "this sucks!" in Over the Top, and the taper cursing again in Stairway; there's some mumbling in the quiet moments, but nothing really annoying. This is a superb gig, the pacing and playing, together with the very enjoyable recording, make for a listening treat. Page is precise, concise and powerful; Jonesy is all over the place; Plant's vocal gymnastics are strong from the beginning to the end and seems genuinely touched by the audience's response; Bonzo is frightening, he seems to destroy the drum kit in every track, the recording captures particularly well his crushing presence. Collectively is the same story, the enthusiasm does not let up a minute, every piece recieves special attention and there are no lazy moments. In My Time features great introductory licks to the guitar leads; No Quarter features amazing interplay and Jonesy's most inspired piano playing. Ten Years is overloaded by the loud twelve-string and cymbals,Achilles by the drums, even distorting the tape, but both are very clear. Tape wear is evident in Over the Top, Kashmir and Stairway; there's a little distortion in the encores: Rock and Roll, TUF. Despite these deficiencies, the performance is not affected at all and allows its enjoyment. This show should restore the faith to detractors of this era. (Rosina Diaz Scali Mar 99)

The show from the Pontiac Silverdome, Michigan on 30 April, 1977 makes it's debut on this 3 disc set. The complete audience source is very distant, with the treble end being clear and the bass a little muddy. The acoustic set does sound a little closer and there is a tape disturbance in the epic Stairway To Heaven solo. The massive audience is noisy and firecrackers are often let off during the show. Overall classic 1977 stuff, Plant lets rip during the You Shock Me interlude in My Time Of Dying, good Page solos in Nobody's Fault and Since I've Been Loving You, great Jones solo piano on No Quarter and Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp features excellent extended acoustic work by Page and Jones. Despite the sonic limitations one for the general collector.

Yet another '77 gig from Diagrams, but first time out for this audience source from the June 13 show at Madison Square Gardens. This 3 CD set starts off muddy and distant, with the drums and bass being particularly faint then clears up during Sick Again - with the guitar coming into prominence. The sound then is good for the rest of the show, apart from a slight deterioration in Achilles Last Stand. There are a few minor cuts during Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, Ten Years Gone, Heartbreaker and Black Dog. The audience is very lively during this gig and this is picked up by the recording on occasions, including what sounds like a firecracker during Ten Years Gone. The standout performances in this generally good 77 show are Over The Hills, Heartbreaker and Stairway. Page gives some excellent lessons in vibrato and string bending during No Quarter! Stairway(Cuts in)/Whole Lotta Love-Rock'n'Roll.
Excellent soundboard recording from Seattle on July 17 1977. The mix is almost perfect, only the drums get drowned during Stairway's guitar solo. There's a little hiss and the sound is not as sharp as could be desired, but very enjoyable. The playing is excellent,a very fluent and dramatic Stairway includes Plant singing new lyrics:..."easy now...take it easy baby!..." and Page with a powerful and soulful solo with Jonesy and Bonzo in perfect accompaniment.Bonzo even growls on one of the start/stops of the solo.

Source tape is identical to that of previuosly released boots, i.e. "The Last LA Forum 6/25/77" (2CD, LA-1992-1) + "The Last LA Forum 6/25,27/77" (2CD, LA-1992-2), "Battle of Evermore Part 1/2" (2CD+2CD, BC-28-A/B/C/D", (and it's reissue called "Rip It Up"), and "A Week for Badgeholders" (19CD, T19CD-1~19). They are almost equivalent in sound quality and completeness. Strictly speaking, high frequency range is enhanced on "The Last LA Forum 6/25/77" (2CD, LA-1992-1) + "The Last LA Forum 6/25,27/77" (2CD, LA-1992-2), while middle range enhanced on "Battle of Evermore Part 1/2" (2CD+2CD, BC-28-A/B/C/D", and bass range enhanced on "A Week for Badgeholders" (19CD, T19CD-1~19). Sound quality of P&G is very similar to that of "The Last LA Forum 6/25/77" (2CD, LA-1992-1) + "The Last LA Forum 6/25,27/77" (2CD, LA-1992-2), and high frequency range is very clear, but bass is a bit weak. But P&G wins since it contains less hiss. However, again this boot contains constant low video noise. To make things worse, some tracking noise occurred in the middle of No Quarter. If it had not been for this problem, I would have listed P&G as the best boot in sound quality..... In terms of completeness, P&G is equivalent to all of the abovementioned boots of this show, and all songs are complete and uncut. (Susumu Omi, Jan 98)

Only one type of source tape is used on the previuosly released boots , i.e. "A Week for Badgeholders" (19CD, T19CD-1~19) and "Sundazed" (3CD, SIRA-203/4/5). Between the two, the latter is better in sound quality, while they are almost equivalent in completeness. 2 sources are used on P&G. The source which is used on the most part of the show is identical to that of the previous releases, but an alt. source is used for the first 4 minutes of TSRTS, which is missing on the other source tape. (But I'm not sure if this first half of TSRTS is really from this show, since I have no reference.) Regarding cuts, there are cuts in NQ, WS, MD and Guitar solo, but all of the other boots of this show contained these cuts as well. So as the conclusion, P&G wins for it's complete TSRTS. In terms of sound quality, however, P&G is a bit inferior to "Sundazed" and high frequency range is weak and not so clear. Moreover, big digi -noise is in the middle of Guitar solo. The Beatles - As Nature Intended; 1 CD-R set.
This CD contains all available tracks of the "Rooftop Concert", just as on YD015, mono. They are a bit reprocessed here - some slight echo is mixed into the extreme left and right to make it sound less dry.
Tracks 10-22 are the same "Get Back" album compilation as YD014, minus "One After 909" which is on track 5 here already.
Unlike YD014 which was taken from an acetate and digitally declicked and denoised (which added some strange phasing artifacts over the stereo image), these tracks were taken from a stereo tape source, and are here presented "as nature intended", so there is some tape noise and some drop outs. But the recording may have more crispness preserved here.
I would not say that the recordings sound better than the Yellow Dog material.

Another nice venue the Hexgon provided for a relaxed Priory. The band is in good form, similar setlist as Tewkes, but different order. This one also finds a new cover song by Tim Buckely, "Song to the Siren." This one is worth the price of admission alone. Rob changes direction in the middle and goes into some middle eastern melodies. ALAIHY features the reggae stint of HOTH. Also, Robert pulls out a some decent guitar work during "Trouble". He can actually play! Rob introduces Kevin with a Band of Joy story in which a certain Mr. Bonham became pissed when he had to play drums standing up. Something to do with not pushing the van in the ice and the side door falling off... ;) Guess Bonzo lost his stool??? Good show, nice SQ again, clear and upfront, very little audience noise; Solid 9.

This tape was recorded from the 2nd row with The Sound Professionals binaural microphones and Sony PCM-M1 portable DAT deck. The CDR version was then remastered with professional hardware EQ in a studio from a clone off the master by an audio engineer friend of mine. What was done to the tape in studio was basically just turning down some bass to clear up the sound (as it was recorded without bass roll-off). I can provide also an untampered DAT clone of this tape if someone wants it, but take my advice and go for the remastered version.

Pink Floyd - Trouble In Knebworth; 3 CD-R set.
July 5, 1975, Knebworth Park - Hertfordshire, England
This show was significant for several reasons. It is the last complete performance of Dark Side with Roger Waters, as well as the last time the Waters' Floyd played any song from Dark Side, except for Money and Us And Them. This show also marks the only time (?) Roy Harper joined the band on stage to sing Have A Cigar. It was also the last Floyd performance without a second guitarist. Snowy White joined the on-stage line up for the Animal's "In The Flesh Tour". The title refers to the numerous technical difficulties the band had at this show.

Pink Floyd - Who Was Trained Not To Spit On The Fan?; 2 CD-R set.
Live at Olympic Stadium, Montreal, Quebec 7/6/77.
Excellent show, and better sound quality than the 5/9/77 Oakland concert. Overall, not as good a performance as compared to Oakland 5/9/77, IMHO. "Pigs - Three Different Ones" from 5/9/77 is superior to the one found here, as Gilmour whips up one of the best solos I've ever heard him play. SOYCD parts 6-9 at Montreal are incredible, especially the guitar work from Snowy and Dave.
Tracks:
Disc 1:
1. Sheep
2. Pigs On The Wings Part I

Last night of the 1981 US Tour.
The beginning of "Start Me Up" is cut. Excellent sound quality; a solid 9+.
The first track consists of crowd noise, pre-concert banter with the band backstage, and what seems to be "canned" music from the concert hall. Kind of odd; basically just skip track one and get on with it! Good all-around performance by The Stones.
