NATIONAL VINTAGE RACING ASSOC.
South Carolina Chapter
The National Vintage Racing Assoc. SC chapter, is an organization based in the Greenville, South Carolina area. The club was founded in March 1996, with seven cars and eleven members and today has grown into a club with the support of 70 members and 35-40 cars.
Their vintage cars include restored racecars from the past, replicas of the old cars and a few old bodies hung on late model frames.
NVRA ran 11 shows in 1999, had 2 rainouts and the NVRA has averaged 16 cars per show at tracks from Gaffney, SC to Whitesburg, GA. For the year 2000, the club expects to run at least 10 shows and no more than 12. The NVRA is based in one of the strongest economic regions of the country. They're getting more and more publicity from local newspapers, radio shows and racing related publications. Recently the Motorsports Weekly a southern based racing publication ran a two page+ story on the NVRA and it's cars and drivers. This type of publicity can only help the club and help build it's base even stronger.
The club is now searching for a series sponsor...this will allow the club to offer an even better show for the fans...by attracting more vintage racers into the fold. Promoters have started to notice the popularity of the series and now seek out the NVRA instead of having to be talked into having a show. In fact...2000 looks to be a banner year for the club.
