STAGE CARRIAGE SERVICE ROUTES  [15]

DONCASTER AND GOOLE

The Doncaster and Goole service operated daily on an hourly basis, requiring three buses to maintain the service.  Its Doncaster terminus was Christchurch, and the route was via Thorne Road, Kirk Sandall, Barnby Dun, Stainforth Fox Inn (also Junction Rd on journeys to Doncaster), Mayfield Avenue, Thorne (Town Centre), South Common Estate, Moorends, Rawcliffe Bridge, Rawcliffe and Goole.  The first bus from Doncaster (weekdays) was 06:47 and the last 20:47.  From Goole the first departure was 08:05 and the last 22:05, and there were additional part journeys between Moorends and Stainforth.  Later start times applied on Sundays.

STAINFORTH AND GOOLE

This service followed the same route between Goole and Moorends but missed out the South Common Estate diversion in Thorne and its route in Stainforth was also slightly different, running via East Lane to Emerson Avenue and returning via Princess Avenue and the Fox Inn.  It also ran on an hourly basis, requiring two buses to maintain the service.  During the fuel crisis of 1957, the company was required to reduce its mileage and certain journeys on this route were discontinued.  The 10:34 Stainforth to Goole and 11:40 Goole to Stainforth (Mon-Fri) were never reinstated, althought this journey did operate on Saturdays only.  The 19:34 Stainforth to Goole and the 20:40 Goole to Stainforth were also cut, but the 21:34 journey from Stainforth was partially re-instated, travelling as far as Moorends  where it turned to form a 22:10 departure for Stainforth, useful to shift workers at the Thorne GEC electric motor factory.  There was also a 05:34 Stainforth - Moorends journey, originating at 05:28 in Dunscroft for the convenience of Thorne factory workers, and this journey operated via Fieldside, Brook Street and North Eastern Road in Thorne, to C. F. Taylor's wool factory.  The first through journey from Stainforth to Goole on weekdays was 06:34 and the last departure from Goole to Stainforth was 22:40.

DUNSCROFT, STAINFORTH, THORNE AND MOORENDS

There were a few journeys in both directions on weekdays only. From Dunscroft, they operated via Ingram Road, Broadway, Stainforth (Station Road), Church Road, Stainforth Police Station and Fox Inn to Thorne and in the opposite direction via East Lane, Emerson Avenue and Church Road to Dunscroft.  These service operated mainly for the convenience of factory workers.

DONCASTER AND DUNSCROFT

This was a jointly-operated service with T. Severn & Son and Doncaster Transport.  It operated daily, having a 20-minute frequency with additional journeys between Doncaster and Barnby Dun on Saturdays only.  It was quite heavily patronised and the largest capacity double deck vehicles were used on this route.  Blue Line supplied one vehicle full-time and a second (part-time) on Saturdays.

DONCASTER AND ARMTHOPRE

This was a jointly-operated service with Felix Motors Ltd and Doncaster Transport.  The frequency was fifteen minute and required three buses, one from each operator, to maintain.  The actual timings rotated on a three-weekly basis.  On Saturdays the frequency was doubled and six buses were used during the busy period (about 09:00 to 18:00).  Sunday services started later and the last bus from Doncaster to Armthorpe was 23:00.
