Mitsubishi's involvement in Rallying is one of the longest, dating back to the early 1960's. Since then, it has established teams acrross the globe, from Japan to Europe. Ralliart Europe is now the main competition arm of Mitsubishi Motors and is based in Rugby in the British Midlands. Team Ralliart is compact when compared to other teams and is headed by the former marathon rally driver, Andrew Cowan.

Ralliart Europe works closely with Mitsubishi's Research and Development department in Japan which is responsible for the engines and much of the transmissions. Ralliart Europe in Britain prepares both Makinen's car and the Carisma now driven by Loix.

Mitsubishi have successfully earned their reputation as unbreakable cars best suited to marathon rallies, but the latest version of the lancer has made the team a formidable opponent in any circumstance. Team Ralliart are able to boast winning the Manufacturers championship in 1998, beating both Toyota and Subaru due to excellent reliability and exemplary performance.
