Aiko Nakasone
Aiko Nakasone has a long history of theatrical talent.
Before appearing in RENT, Aiko performed in the Broadway revival
of How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. National
tours have included roles in the smash musical hit, The Who's Tommy
and Andrew Lloyd Webber's classic, Starlight Express. She was
also one of the founding members of the RENT cast, performing even
in the Off-Broadway production. Aiko normally gets overlooked, as she
is in the group of what some arrogant
RENT-heads
refer to as the "Obscure Parts," the "Small Parts," or simply the "Bad
Parts." While I agree that Aiko should have gotten a more center-stage
role, her sunny presence is undeniable. As you can tell, she's my fave,
so nothing dissing Aiko... Up Left: Aiko as a homeless person!
Hee hee....

Aiko
Nakasone:
If RENT makes people more open to Broadway, then
I'm glad. People say it's an unusual work for Broadway, but truthfully,
I think people have been looking for work with messages like these. RENT
very much speaks to the issues we live with.
