Anthony Rapp

Anthony Rapp, who plays Mark Cohen, is no stranger to the world of showbiz...  Anthony has been associated with RENT since its studio production.  On Broadway, he has appeared in Six Degrees Of Seperation and Precious Sons, for which he won an Outer Critics Circle Award and was nominated for a Drama Desk Award.  Off-Broadway he has appeared in RENT, Raised In Captivity, Trafficking In Broken Hearts, Youth Is Wasted, Sophistry, and The Destiny Of Me.  He has acted in the films Adventures In Babysitting, School Ties, Dazed And Confused, Six Degrees Of Seperation, Twister, The Mantis Murder, and David Searching and on television in The Lazarus Man.

Anthony Rapp:  Since I've been doing RENT, I have felt that I have been able to grieve Jonathan's death with every performance.  Preserving Jonathan's show is a way of mourning him.  We are living with him every day.  We get to go to the theatre and still be with him.  After Jonathan died, Michael Greif said to me, "You get to be him for us for a while now."  That was intense.  He didn't mean it literally, but I was a link to Jonathan because Mark is a link to Jonathan.  Jonathan's friends said similar things.  There were gestures I was making unconciously that they said were things that Jonathan did.  At the end of every show, after the curtain call, I send four claps up to Jonathan.
