gTick

Intro...

Welcome to the gTick homepage.
gTick is a Linux/UN*X based Metronome application. It was written because of a lack of Linux/UN*X based metronome programs available; and for the fact that I wanted a metronome to play my guitar to.

This is my second major GTK+ application, the first being gEdit. It was written using GTK+ 1.1.14, I'm not sure how it will fare with earlier 1.1 versions of GTK; I do know that it won't compile with GTK+ 1.0.x. It has been tested on Linux (2.2.1) and FreeBSD.
It requires user access to /dev/dsp, so the need of a Soundcard is vital (I hope to support the PC Speaker in future versions).
Currently, gTick has:

  • Variable speed of 30BPM to 250BPM, which should be suitable for anyone;
  • Variable Volume
  • Three different beats (2/4, 3/4, 4/4)
  • A nifty (yet pointless) About box

It is still in development, so there are likely to be bugs; So use it at your own risk, I can't be held responsible for anything bad happening to your computer, or your life.

If you've got any comments, ideas, bug reports or anything, Tell me.
