Kashmiri Pandit Who Is Who

Dear Sir,

Namaskar.

I want to introduce myself to you through this page. My name is Daya Krishen Bhat. My Father was renowned late Shri Hakim Shyam Lal Bhat. He was a Unani Physician by profession and we lived in Karannagar Srinagar Kashmir before migration in February 1990. My son and my cousin brothers are working in the
US. Now I live in Noida (UP) which is touching the eastern side of Delhi.

After masters degree in Statistics, I served the state government in the capacity of a Statistician for some years. Then I went to
International Center for Population Studies in Bombay to study Demography for one year and completed it in 1968/69. In 1971, I became Demographer of the state through Public Service Commission recruitment. I have retired from service on 31st of October 1998. In between till this date, I did some courses on computer, and have also done a little work on the Internet Search Engines etc.

During the period of 27 years of being a Demographer, I have published number of papers. Before February 1990, I published a book entitled "Family Welfare in
J&K State". This book contains 32-year data (428 pages) on Population & related Statistics, Vital Statistics, Performance Statistics, Characteristics of Acceptors, Impact of family Welfare Program in the State, Births averted, and Infrastructure etc.

Kashmiri Pandits got uprooted in their home state of Jammu & Kashmir. The fundamentalist forces destroyed the peace loving community by killing / atrocities / intimidation and in the process they were forced to migrate to different parts of the country and the globe.
There is , to my mind, no single document on population available on Kashmiri Pandits continent-wise that could reflect as to how many we are, how fast we grow and how far migration has changed our socio-cultural patterns. Collecting this information / data is a gigantic task and time consuming but I am sure a very small humble beginning could be made in the form of KASHMIRI PANDIT 'WHO IS WHO'. I have an idea to cover our population in five stages:

Stage1

Kashmiri Pandit Who Is Who

USA

Stage 2

Kashmiri Pandit Who Is Who

CANADA

Stage 3

Kashmiri Pandit Who Is Who

EUROPE

Stage 4

Kashmiri Pandit Who Is Who

OTHER COUNTRIES

Stage 5

Kashmiri Pandit Who Is Who

INDIA STATE WISE

Covering of stage first would be comparatively easier in view of the large elite class and good number of migrants in one single foreign land where the facilities of communication are much advanced as compared to the rest.
Collecting facts from this stage shall throw out a wealth of data/information and experience that could be beneficial for getting the other stages completed. It would serve as a pilot project. Though the reference date of the present study would be
01-01-1999 but for KP's in the US, the task of collecting data shall be from right now onwards and shall get updated on 01-01-1999 when the publication is expected to go for printing. It may be stated here that the publication is expected to be a voluminous one. One page will be dedicated to one head of the family covering general information, information about ones hobbies, special interests, qualification, profession, achievements, distinction, professional contribution, etc and person's photograph. The publication will be priced.

For this purpose I have devised a Form. Filling of this form will take less than ten minutes of your valuable time and for a good cause it is worth it. I request you for your kind cooperation in this endeavor with the request to you to further pass on the request to Kashmiri Pandit friends in the community there. I could also contact them through email if their email address gets available to me.

Thanking you.
