Easter Bonnet Cookies

1 package refrigerated sugar cookies (or your favorite recipe)
1 cup vanilla or favorite frosting
assorted colored sugars
assorted Easter candies

1. Preheat the oven to the temperature to 350 degrees.
2. Lightly grease two cookie sheets.
3. Remove the cookie dough from the wrapper.
4. Slice the cookie dough into 36 even slices.
5. Roll each of the 24 cookie slices into a ball.
6. Place on the prepared sheets.
7. Place the cookies in the preheated oven and bake for 7-9 minutes, or  until pale
    golden brown.
8. Cut the remaining 12 slices in half.
9. Roll into 24 small balls.
10.Place on the prepared cookie sheet.
11.Bake for 5-7 minutes or until pale golden brown.
12.Once the cookies are finished baking,
13.Remove from the cookie sheets and let cool on a wire rack.
14.Affix one small cookie to the center of each large cookie with a dab of
     frosting to form the bonnet.
15.Frost the bonnet top, brim, or the whole hat and sprinkle with colored
     sugars.
16.Add Easter candies for an accent, or leave plain.
  Makes 24 cookie sandwiches
Notes: These cookies are a lot of fun to make, and the variations are endless.
Some favorite decorations include pastel chocolate coated candies, jelly
beans, gummy bunnies, sprinkles, edible glitter, and gum drops.
Do not bake the two sizes of cookies on the same cookie sheet for the same amount of time because the smaller cookies will burn, or else the larger cookies will not cook through.
