Deacon David Bearden
Hello,
My name is Deacon David Bearden. I am the Prior of the Catholic Community of Saint Patrick. I moved to the Huntington, WV area from Beaumont, TX on September 13, 2000. The reason I moved here was to form an Independent Catholic Church which reached out and catered to the needs of all Christians, to include the Gay/Lesbian community, college students, and anyone else searching for a place to worship our Lord Jesus Christ and have fellowship with each other. On February 6, 2001 I moved back to Beaumont, TX after studying theology with our Bishop.
I was born on January 30, 1972 in Port Arthur, TX. I attended Stephen F. Austin High School and graduated 4th in my class of 1990. I attended Lamar University in Beaumont, TX where I studied Psychology. I then went to work for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a Correctional Officer in July 1994 and later promoted to Sergeant of Correctional Officers in January, 1997. In December 1998 I was selected as the Operational Review Sergeant for my unit where I served as an auditor for the Senior Warden. In December, 1999 I received my calling to enter into the Priesthood with the Independent Catholic Church. I began my formation process under the direction of Abbot Brian L. Watson in Beaumont, TX. In July, 2000 I decided to resign my position at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and move up to Huntington, WV to continue my formation process under our Bishop, the Most Reverend Tatiana Beckett. In September, 2000 I made this decision a reality and moved here to the Huntington area to form a congregation and continue my studies in the Priesthood.
My ideals for our church are very simple. I believe we all should love one another and love our Lord and God. It's that simple. All the rest just comes along with it. I believe that we are all human beings and NO ONE is perfect. I am a very down-to-earth kind of guy. I don't judge anyone. I believe my mission is to share the Gospel with everyone and let them interpret it for themselves. I also believe in giving spiritual guidance when asked or needed.
My personal life is average. I am an openly gay guy who enjoys having fun and visiting with other people. I have a wonderful boyfriend whom I love very very much. I enjoy visiting with my family and friends and spending time with my beautiful dog Sissy.
I have wonderful dreams of our congregation here in Beaumont. I feel that the Community of Saint Patrick will be a place where all peoples of all types of lifestyles will come to worship, have fun, and have great fellowship with one another. I want to personally invite everyone and anyone to our church and see for themselves that the Holy Spirit lives in EVERYONE. May God bless each and everyone.
Respectfully,
Deacon David Bearden, MSB
