Karate is an art of self defence from the Ryuku Islands ( Okinawa). Many years ago, until the turn of the century, karate was taught in secret and handed down from generation to generation , master to disciple , as a way of the Okinawan people to defend themselves against the Samurai Warriors of Japan.
Early this century karate spread to all of Japan and now to the whole world. There are millions of people training in karate worldwide.
