Hello Chitty, thanks for the time for this interview. I wont take up much of your time.How are things going for you Chitty. All goes well?
YES! At
the moment we are quit busy with the coming up tour with “METALIUM” and we
are very happy to travel all over
europe with them. With “EURASIA” so far the reactions are excellent through
the press and I hope it’ll remain the same way.
OK so now Avalon’s release is finally out. And it is called Eurasia. How did this title come about. What is the story behind the title?
The story is, as you know “EURASIA” is the worlds largest continent where so many different cultures are existing and some of the songs are about some of these main charactors like “LORD BUDDHA”/GENGIS KAHN/KING DARIUS 3/ and the last KING of SRI LANKA etc...........
Do the titles of the songs on the cd have any relevance to the album title? Whats the story behind them?
Yeah! To
a certain extent! Each song is totally different to each other! For an ex:
“ETERNAL FLAME “ is a song about “Lord Buddhas” journey
through Iindia , where he taught the Philosophy of noble truth and he
found the Enlightenment, what he has been searching for.
Are they all new songs or is it material that didn’t make it on previous Avalon releases?
NO! We didn’t take any of the older stuff! We composed completely new! It was a hard time to arrange the Asian Instruments to European power metal.........you see still it works.
Are you and Avalon satisfied with how the cd came out, such as material wise, production etc…?
WE are very happy with the result and how it came out at the end! Sascha Paeth did a great job and he’s a great talent with a very versatile mind in music and an excellent producer.
Who did what exactly on the making of Eurasia?
The Complete Band we did everything at our rehersal room and it was fun!
What would you say are your favorite songs of Eurasia and why?
To be honest! I like all of them! Cause this album has some kind of unique value regarding to the previous ones! It’s hard for me to say so!!!!!!!!!!!LOL
Since I do not have a copy of it (BLAME CANADA and its slow process)and for those who don’t have the cd yet, what would you say is the difference between “Eurasia” and “Vison Eden”? For example, did you approach the making of Eurasia with the same philosophy as you had for Vision Eden and or the first two Avalon releases? What was different and or new?
“Vision Eden” the songs are a bit complicated than any of the Avalon albums i say! Actually i joined the band in studio that time! so i didn’t have that much of time to involve myself into the song writing process ! it was already done except for the vocals! So me and our previous producer Charlie Bauerfeind we did change the melodies according to my range and it was a great experience working with this guy! He’s amazing too! He’s got an excellent ear for every instrument. So the difference i see in “Eurasia” that we are grown up now than the previous albums.
Is it out only in Europe? When is
the expected release date for it in parts such as North America and Canada and
or the rest of the world?
I think around November it’s
gonna hit the American territory through SENSORY RECORDS (Lasers edge) and
it’s out in Europe since September. Also it’s available in Japan as an
import.
So tell us what has the feedback been so far from people and magazines. Do they vary from one country to another ?
YES! Mostly in the southern europe its growing than in the central and northern Europe! We’ve got excellent reviews everywhere i could say! For the people its the best AVALON album they say.
Can fans buy the cd off your website? Where else can they go to obtain a copy of it?
Through the website is not possible! I think in every store in Europe its available and also through some of the online stores/mail order companies and etc.
Your website states that you will be touring with the bands Metalium. How did that come about. Will there be other bands added as well on the tour and will the tour only be in Europe?
YEAH! We played for a festival in
France with ROYAL HUNT/PINK CREAM 69/METALIUM and they gave us a offer, so we
considered and on the tour we’ll
have a local support act as the 3rd in every different
European town. Yes! It’s only a European tour.
Will Metalium be the opening band or will both bands handle the headlining act?
Yes ! METALIUM is the main band on this tour .
Now Avalon has had the addition of a new drummer Jacques Voutay right? How has his addition to the band improved or contributed to Avalon. How is he coming along with the rest of Avalon. You think he has adjusted yet? Where does Jacques come from. With what other bands has he played with before Avalon?
Jacky is originally from France and lives in Germany! He’s really a cool character and he’s got great balls to play the damn thing! I could say he grooves like hell and very powerful, also a very nice person to get along ! he adjusted well! And we are very happy with him.
I need you to clarify something for
me or maybe the rest of the band can, A friend of mine from here in Montreal
claims that he once met Avalon promoting a cd in Montreal at around 1993 and that you played a certain club called BACK STREET”. I
find that hard to believe because I don’t recall such a moment. Is it true or
is my friend suffering from mental illness… HA HA HA !!
According to my knowledge i know that they’ve been to Canada! May be it’s true(LOL) as you know im with the band since 2 1/2 yrs! So i don’t know the exact story.
DO you think you can convince Petra in doing an interview with me in the near future and the rest of Avalon as well. Oh and by the way , a cool autographed picture of your bassist would be nice. He he eh, she is hot! LOL LOL
