Saving Graffiti Shortcuts

When you perform a soft reset, you will not only lose your state files, but also your Graffiti shortcuts. If you use Graffiti a lot and have a large database of shortcuts, this can be not only a nuisance but a real problem. So, to save your shortcuts, use a file manager (e.g., BMS File Manager) or OmniCom to create the following directory:

B:\GEOWORKS\USERDATA\HWR

Now, whenever you make a shortcut, it will get added to an automatically generated file called GRAFFITI.MCR. (Keep in mind that this directory and all your shortcuts will be erased if you have to do a system reset, so store the directory on a memory card if you want a more permanent solution.)

You now have a long-term safe set of shortcuts, and you can create as many shortcuts as you need. If you have access to a Zoomer (with Graffiti), you can copy the GRAFFITI.MCR file over to your OmniGo. The Zoomer comes with seven default Graffiti shortcuts that work well on the OmniGo: [ds] Date, [ts] Time, [dts] Date & Time, [me] Meeting, [br] Breakfast, [lu] Lunch, and [di] Dinner.
