When Andy Gibb poses for the camera, you can tell that this isn't a shy guy. Grinning a wide grin, the bare-chested dream boy obviously knows he's got what lots of girls are looking for.
But in spite of this confidence, Andy admits he's afraid of girls. He's been burnt before, and he doesn't want it to happen again.
One of his most traumatic experiences was his brief marriage to Kim Reeder. Since they were only eighteen when they were wed, they weren't quite mature enough to deal with the serious problems that come along with love and marriage -- especially since complications were magnified by Andy's budding career.
In addition, it's difficult for Andy to find a girl he can really trust -- a girl who can respect him as a person and not idolize him as a superstar.
For this reason, Andy often dates women who are quite a bit older than him.
"I'm afraid of girls who try to be women when they really aren't," he said. "It's scary because a girl is capable of anything, including emotional blackmail, and often she doesn't think before she acts or speaks. I'm not afraid, though, of women who are grownup, either mentally, emotionally or physically. It's just that I think of myself as a man, not a boy."
Andy explains that it will be quite a while before he gets married a second time. "I'm not that heavy yet, and I'm into my career right now. It's doing fine and it can only get better."
"Naturally I have girlfriends, and there are dates whenever there's time or a premiere or I'm in Hollywood," he adds.
Although Andy says that there is not a special girl in his life right now, he is often seen with actress, Susan George, and many people wonder about their relationship. Andy explains that they're just good friends.
"Susan's very good for me," he says. She's older, as everyone points out so quickly, and that means she's mature. She's a woman of the world, and that gives me confidence. An older woman usually has more stability in her life, and she knows what she wants better than a teenager can. I think most females only improve with age."
