Mosaic Art Tutorial for Paint Shop Pro
You will need a few pieces for clip art or tubes for this project. Jane has some really pretty floral tubes that are listed with her wallpaper fills. She also has a large site filled with tubes that would work great for this project. Glori has lots of tubes to choose from also. There are many sites to choose from. You can also check Graphic Buds site for a list of tube sites. Be sure to save your image often. You might want to make a folder for your tiles and save them too. |
| Open a new canvas 500 x 400 with a transparent background. Add a new layer and flood fill with white. Set this image aside for now. Open another new image 35 x 35 and flood fill with a color of your choice. Make your background color white and go to Image, Add Border. You will get a popup box telling you that it can only be added to a single layer image. Click Yes. Make sure symmetric is checked and that 3 is in all of the boxes and click ok. |
| In your Layer Pallet, right click on the background layer and promote to layer. Go to Image, Effects, Inner Bevel and add these settings. |

You should now have a small tile that looks like this.
Add a new layer. Using your Airbrush tool set to these settings and foreground color set to white, draw a small curved line at the top left corner of your tile. Go to Image, Blur, Gaussian Blur. I used 3.04 for the radius but you can make it more or less depending on how you want your tile to look. Click ok. Once you have your blur the way you like it, copy and paste it as a new image. That way all you will have to do is copy and paste it onto your other tiles and arrange it where you want it. Repeat the steps to make more tiles using different colors. Merge visible your tile and set aside for now. |
| Bring your large image back. Add a new layer. Choose your tube or cleaned clipart and add it to the layer. Go to Image, Effects, Inner Bevel and apply the same setting as before. Repeat the inner bevel on the tube again. |
