Book Review:
The Dirt
Get this book!! Strangely divided monologues from all members show the different sides to being in the band.  The odd chance meetings of most of its members truly surprised me.  As with the Gene Simmons book, lots of sex and lots of rock n roll. This ones got lots of drugs too! ha! Definitely a fun read!

Book REVIEW!
KISS AND MAKE-UP by GENE SIMMONS

Ok people! Here is the book that has been turning heads by it’s cover alone!!! All the inside scoop on Gene Simmons’ life before, during, and after the wonder that is KISS. Believe me, it’s not all sex, drugs, and rock n roll, well not drugs anyway. Oh sure, there’s plenty of sex, ok, a LOT of sex. We all know there’s tons of rock n roll. However, what there is NOT, is drugs; at least not by Gene. This is one wild ride through the years of struggle, of making it big, and cashing in even BIGGER! $$$ This book grabs you on the first page, and holds on until the very end. It was so good in fact, that I read it in one day! So, take your eyes away from the tv, computer, playstation, and porn mag, and get KISS AND MAKE-UP and enjoy!!

Twisted Sister: Live at Hammersmith
Ok people, check it out! All right, all right, this is not a new cd, but it IS new to my collection! While other TS fans are out buying Twisted Sister Forever-the tribute album, I said FUCK NO! I want to hear the real thing, not buy a cd just for one song sung by someone I like(Sebastian, of course). So, then the decision was, which cd to buy? I really dig a good live album, so I figured, what the hell? Well, I'm so glad I got it!!! GREAT tunes, an energetic crowd, and lots of commentary by Dee in-between songs. All the greats are on there: We're Not Gonna Take It, I Wanna Rock, You Can't Stop Rock N Roll, SMF, etc. If you like a good live album, look no further! This cd kicks ass! I totally recommend you get it, and CRANK IT!!!

More on OZZY & OZZFEST & Glam, Slam, Metal Jam!
Ozzy will be a presenter at the MTV VMAs. Its been great seeing some of the heavy metal greats on MTV lately!  In related news, Manson was brought up on charges for harrassment by a security gaurd somewhere along the line of the tour. Oh well. This is old news that I neglected to mention but the Glam Slam Metal Jam tour has been cancelled because Bobby Dall is injured. Poor guy.

OZZFEST!
Well, yesterday was quite and experience for this evil angel! I went to my first Ozzfest. What a day!!! We got there between 9 and 9:30am, and immediately went inside and saw that they were already on the second band. This band was called No One, and they seemed pretty good. We only heard their last two songs. Then we headed over to the next stage. There we were treated to a naked guitar player in American Head Charge. Glad he was impressed w/ himself-no one else was. I guess they figured we'd be too distracted to realize they suck. After that we decided to walk around and see what the vendors had. My friend go a bracelet where the ends are skulls. He was very happy after that. I saw a baby doll tank top booth which had the following shrits:  Got Metal?   Problem Child     Angel     Flirt     I Fucked Your Boyfriend.  There was a guy wearing one that said Fuck All Boy Bands.  The theme of the day seemed to be saying "I can't hear you mother fuckers-wake up!" and ending the set w/ a Pantera song. Union Underground-AWESOME live band!! No gimmicks, no special lighting or anything. Just a bunch of guy making some great music. Very cool. Now, I can't possibly give a detailed review of every band, so I won't try. Here are the higlights:  It RAINED off and on all day, and the lawn area became a giant mud bath. People started out sliding, then it became a dirty mosh pit, then it became mud wresting. I'm proud to say I left that night completely MUD FREE!!!!!  So, people around me were dirty, naked (some girls were taking off as much as they could get away with) and stoned. I would imagine it was like Woodstock. LOL  So, onto the big acts. Black Label Society-well, aside from Zakk Wylde coming on stage shouting "Fuck Bon Jovi" I enjoyed their performance. After that Crazy Town got booed, but took it in stride.  The next I can remember was Disturbed-fuckin awesome band!!! The guy freaked me out when he started drilling holes in his face and sticking in a needle and I don't even want to know what he did w/ the screwdriver in his hand. I saw him bring it towards his nose, and he said something about touching the brain-I chickened out at that point and couldn't look. After that, I couldnt' take my eyes from the stage, cause they fuckin ROCK!!! After them was Linkin Park. Now, I like the three songs that get radio play, so that was cool. One Step Closer was so great live, and the crowd totally got into it. After that, came Papa Roach and Slipknot-both of which neither my friends or I could give a shit about, so we mozied over to the concession area then. We came back for Marilyn Manson. Now, the bets were(among my friends) that I would not like his show. I was not sure, but was leaning towards that myself. Was I wrong!!! He puts on an AMAZING show!!! I can't believe they only gave him an hour. WOW.
Then...it was time for Black Sabbath. I'm sorry to say Ozzy began to lose his voice during the first song. He kept apologizing saying it was the last show of the tour and he was burnt. He really tried to do what he could w/ his voice, and just kept on going. I felt bad for him, but it didn't bother me that much. I mean, this is Ozzy!!! LIVE, and I'm there to see it! Incredible. So, it was a great day. The people standing next to me smoked so much pot and got so spaced that one girl sat down and couldn't get back up, and I don't think the one guy knew he where he was. LOL Isn't hysterical how there are always people in the crowd who are as amusing to watch at the acts? This one lady started dancing when Manson came out, and let's just say she was really ENJOYING herself!!   All in all it was a great day, despite the rain, mud, majorly overpriced stuff, and lack of organization on the venue's part. Still kicked ass!!!!!

One Wild Night...but not quite
On Sunday, July 29th, VH1 aired One Last Wild Night-the Bon Jovi concert taped at Giants Stadium in New Jersey on the 27th. The show was great, and to viewers who missed the concert it was probably a great thing to see. I was very excited to see the concert aired because I was there on Friday, and I wanted to relive the night. Now, don't get me wrong, VH1 did a great job, but it could have been better. For starters, they could have shown the opening acts. Eve 6 and Sugar Ray were great. Also, I would have liked them to show the whole concert. Yeah, it was on for 2hours, but there were sooooooo many commercials, and parts of the show were edited out. Now, I can understand time, so I'll let that one go. Although I must say-"Always" and "Bad Medicine" kicked ass, so it was devastating that they cut that out. One thing that really pissed me off was that they showed parts out of order. Here's what REALLY happened: the concert ended when they did "Shout". Then, after all of us cheering, screaming, and what not, they came out and after "Always"  THAT is when they did "Wanted Dead Or Alive"-for the ENCORE!!! Why they switched it around I have no idea. Then, they left the stage and came out for a SECOND encore of "Tequila" and "Twist & Shout". It was GREAT!!! So sorry VH1 didn't have enough sense to keep everything in. Richie's solo of "Stranger In This Town" was awesome too! So, for you who only saw it on tv-you got to see an awesome show, but you still missed a lot.

MTV20 Live and Almost Legal!
It could have been worse. There were some completely kickass moments! Hearing Sum41 sing with Rob Halford all the while watching Tommy Lee tear it up on the drums just put me in a crazed state of excitement!!  I know lots of people who love Halford will have an opinion on this, I saw this as Halford giving his kiss of approval to Sum41 who are basically a  'NuMetal' band and in a genre many metal loving fans despise. Halford seemed to smile upon NuMetal when interviewed as well. Is this being read as a bad move for Halford? Do you see this,  much like many saw Aerosmith's performance with Britney and NSYNC at halftime on super bowl sunday, as selling out just to push yourself into the hearts and minds of todays teens? I would LOVE to hear comments on this! EMAIL ME! Other notable things of the night were Slash kissing ass(but I still like him), Rikki Rachtman babbling about something or other(it wasn't very important whatever it was) and  Jesse Camp not looking strung out for once in his life!  I wasn't too impressed with MTV's decision to end with Red Hot Chili Peppers. I know they're a popular band but considering the night was filled with collaborations I was expecting something over the top for an ending.  Ah well.  You cant have everything.

BON JOVI
Holy Fuckin Shit!!!  WOW! I went to see an amazing concert at Giants Stadium last night. You people have no idea what this meant to me. Ok, you all know how much I love Sebastian Bach. Well, following in thisclose of a second place is Jon Bon Jovi, and the music this band has been banging out along the years. Well, let me start at the beginning :) First opening act was Eve 6. Now, if I'd actually heard of them before this week I may have been able to get into their set a bit more. I did see a video of theirs the other day, so when they sang "Here's To The Night" I knew that. They are obviously a club band, with no clue about large crowds. The singer even mentioned that before yesterday, the only Jersey venue they'd played was the Birch Hill. They did do a really good version of "Leaving On A Jet Plane" which was a surprise. Next up was Sugar Ray. Ok, Mark McGrath-can we say yum? :)  Their time on stage was fun, and sounded great! It would have been nice if they had the screens turned on for the opening acts so I could have seen them. I was in the mezzanine, so all I could see were little figures moving on the stage. Oh well, better luck next time. So, finally, the moment I'd been waiting sixteen years for. Yes, that is what I said, it's NOT a typo...I have been waiting 16yrs to see a Bon Jovi concert. I have LOVED this man/band since I was eight, and was not allowed to go to concerts til I was in high school. Then, I just couldn't get tickets. Such is life. Well, they opened with "One Wild Night" it sure was! I was on my feet, dancing, singing, taking pictures that I pray will come out!(we'll see what a 90ft. zoom can do!) Jon, Richie, David, and Tico were lookin and sounding GREAT!!! The crowd was going crazy for them the entire show! We sang along to every song! I was asked earlier what my favorite moment of the night was...I really can't answer that. I was just so happy to be there, that every moment was magical! It was really sweet, during "Bed Of Roses" Jon takes a gal from the audience and dances w/ her. Well, this chick was a bit taller than him, which was kinda funny. At the end of their dance he kissed her, and I thought the poor girl(poor girl? fuck that-LUCKY girl is more like it)was gonna pass out! Later, he kissed another girl in the crowd! Sheesh! Why'd I have to be up in the 200's section? Anyway, every song was awesome! Encore #1-an incredible performance of "Always" which I must say-the crowd kicked ass singing! I do believe johnny boy was impressed. Hell, I know I was. Then, the song I had been waiting for-"Wanted Dead or Alive". Now, I LOVE every Bon Jovi song I have ever heard, some I love more than others. For reasons which to quote Jekyll&Hyde, "I cannot explain to myself, much less to you!" Wanted Dead Or Alive is by far my favorite Bon Jovi song. Encore #2 Jon decided to have some fun, and do some oldies! "Tequila" "Shout" "Twist & Shout" I am purposely not giving too many details. That is because VH1 is airing the concert tomorrow, July 29th. I can't wait to tape it and be able to relive last night's excitement. How funny would it be to see me in the crowd shots? All I can really say is that the show was amazing! The night ended with me thinking I was at Macy's, because we were treated to a great fireworks display! So, after 16 years, all I have to say is that it was sooooo worth the wait! Only thing, next time I'm getting closer seats!

Sons Of Poseidon
Someone emailed me about these guys not too long ago and I gave their site a glance. My first impression was that they sure got the SEX part of sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll down to an art! Their site actually has a warning before you enter! Ive been told, though, that they don't use substances of any kind which is quite commendable. They only had two mp3s on their website so once again I didnt have a whole lot to go on but I must say I LOVED their song Silent! The other song, Pil Sung, had to be explained to me. Pil Sung is vietnamese for 'certain victory' and is a battle cry in Ti Kwon Do. The whole song is about Ti Kwon Do battles, the lead singer supposedly puts on a demonstration when this song is preformed live as he is a 3rd degree blackbelt. Please stop over at their site and if you can handle the rude and crude check out their terminology section.

Glam Slam Metal Jam- I was hit on by a banana
WOOHOO! Evil Angel and I went to see this show Sunday and had a great time! We met up with a few friends at the show and that made us miss pretty much all of Enuff Z Nuff, but who cares?!? We were there for Poison! I must say I really enjoyed Quiet Riot! They sang some good songs including Come On Feel The Noise, and Kevin Dubrow was wearing this whacky gold outfit that just earns him all sorts of coolness points. Warrant was on O.K.  Jani came into the crowd which was amusing. He was smoking throughout the entire show too.  Anyway! On to Poison! Their show was just so visually pleasing!! It was a three leveled stage, lots of lights and pyro the whole time! I really love those timed jumps and kicks that Bret does! I noticed every song Bret would sing and then at some point say "CC" and let CC be the center of attention. Id bet my life this is to keep fighting to a minimum. Rikki was just INSANE on the drums!!! Ive never seen someone so dedicated to being a showman on the drums! Twirling his sticks and playing with exaggerated motions- popping up and standing at times! I was totally into his drum solo too.  CC sang I song called 'I hate every bone in your body but mine' which was scary to say the least. They played their new song Rockstar which I dug alot!  We had aftershow passes so when the concert was done and everything was set in order we went to the tent. While we were there some loser tried to convince us he was a somebody and could get us backstage at other shows. E. Angel likes to tell people we're cousins, which works for me but of course we were asked by a guy in a giant banana suit if we were going to be together or going to be together. I have to give props to him because he made the night fun even though he kept calling me Morticia and compared me to an Oreo and made a fuss over my VirginSlut nickname. *sigh*.  Well, anyway. CC came and left because OMG people wanted his autograph! Some fans just have so much nerve! <sarcasm mode turned off> Bret only talks to people in his fan club which you have to pay to be a member of. I didnt see Bobby but I dont care about him either. Lets just say its a good thing I was there to see Rikki. The other bands aren't allowed to stick around for Poison's after party and hes who we met. He was a total sweetheart! We were the only ones to give a him a gift that day and he took a picture with each of us and kissed each of us a couple of times. We basically hung around till they kicked us out! And banana man turned out to be Superman in disguise. hehe.

Project 86
check out this band. Theyre a heavy metal band (did I say HEAVY yet?) touring right now. They have 2 cds out and have a deal with Altantic Records. One of their songs can be heard on the movie The Blair Witch Project and they have a few short clips of their music from their newest cd on their website. The sound on their mp3s was not the best but I think it will be enough for you to determine whether or not youll like the cd. They have the lyrics to all their songs written out and I was impressed with even those songs because they seem so passionate. That is something Rock has been missing lately. passion.

Courtney Love
is being a little bitch! Imagine that! Dave and Kris, the two living members from Nirvana were going to release a box set of music containing one previously unreleased song but Courtney is trying to stop them. Umm were YOU ever IN Nirvana, miss Love? No! You were just fucking the lead singer, that does not mean you had a clue what was going on in the band. I imagine you couldnt even remember your own name at the time so stop trying to make it sound like Dave and Kris had 'nothing to do with the artist vision of Nirvana."

It May Not Be New, But Well Worth A Listen
I got two great cds for my birthday that I just can't get enough of! Incubus-Make Yourself, and Def Leppard-Vault 1980-1995. These cds KICK ASS!!! I was surprised to find that I knew more of the Incubus songs than I thought. Of course Pardon Me is heard all over the radio, but there are really great songs here. I love Drive, and I Miss You. Now, I haven't been a huge Incubus fan, but this cd will not disappoint you!! Now, onto Def Leppard. Can I just say this is one of the groups I grew up on! In recent years I have become a lover of greatest hits cds to replace all my old cassettes(with exceptions of course). Well...you can't get much better than Vault!!! How's this for an opener-Pour Some Sugar On Me. There is not one song on here that doesn't bring back some great memories! Of the fuckin awesome 15 tunes I can't even pick a favorite. If you love rock, you HAVE to get this cd! So, take my advise get up off your ass, get to the store and pick up Def Leppard's Vault and CRANK IT BABY!!!!!

Whats in a Name?!?
Chew on this, the only bands to have changed their lead singer with little to no affect at all on their popularity that I can think of were Van Halen and AC/DC. But they changed their lead singer and kept the name. Axl Rose, he changed his whole band and kept the name Gun N Roses. Skid Row, well, they kicked out Sebastian and the drummer Rob Affuso but yet Snake and Rachel owned the name so with it they've formed a new band. I do not by any means think the name makes the band, its the music that matters most of all and I will refrain from passing final judgment on Axl's new band until I hear their music but to me a name is more than just a grouping of letters. It stands for a chemistry between certain people. It isn't as pertinent in some bands as others but for example KISS would not be KISS without Gene Simmons and for anyone to try and use the name without him as a member would be a sin. For me, Guns N Roses was Axl and Slash and to have a new Guns N Roses I would expect the two of them at minimum but Axl is holding onto something and I can only assume expects to spark enough interest with the name to rekindle the flame. It might work, it might not. I of course will be giving the new Guns N Roses a listen, because even if I don't appreciate the use of the name I may still enjoy the music. I will also be seeing Skid Row live at the Birch Hill next weekend with Evil Angel, we will be wearing Baz tshirts but we will try to be as open minded as possible.

Tuff
Has a new CD available on their website called the History of Tuff. My favorite song off it is American Hair Band. An extremely funny song, in tribute to the greats of the eighties, it is done to the beat of Kid Rock's American Bad Ass. One of my favorite lines is 'going back to '89, I went platinum zero times.'  He names over 20 bands and artists and includes famous lines of past anthem songs like 'what do you wanna do with your life?' from Twisted Sister's We're Not Gonna Take It and claims Sebastian Bach is "Youth Gone Wild!!" Definitely check out this CD.

Bach 2: Basics
Well folks, Sebastian Bach has done it again! He has made our lives a little easier, and our wallets a little fuller. How you ask? Easy. He has made a compilation CD of songs he's recorded on other artists' tribute albums. Now, I don't know about you, but I wasn't' about to buy 15 or so CDs just for one song by him. Fuck that shit!!!
So, what does this CD provide? A rockin good time!!! Here's some highlights: Baz's rendition of  "Crazy Train" just blew me away! "Communication Breakdown" was fuckin awesome! I was pleasantly surprised to hear Baz break into "TNT". "Shock Me" teamed Sebastian w/ former Skid Row drummer Rob Affuso for the first time in years, and it was well worth the wait! An added bonus to the greatness is a live recording of "This Is The Moment" from Jekyll & Hyde. My only complaint would be "Tonight's The Night." I was expecting a very sexy Sebastian-style ballad. This song actually should have been on THE LAST HARD MEN CD, but that is a whole other discussion.     Bottom line-This CD is fuckin amazing!

How was the taping,
..you might ask? AWESOME!! Baz never ceases to amaze me. He was the fourth guest on the show.. i guess they wanted to make sure we kept our enthusiasm up the entire time <punks! i feel so used!> Sally asked a couple of good questions and his response to a question about his favorite dad memory makes the whole show worth watching but i think some of us baz freaks would have preferred we got to ask questions and there were less guests because she didn't even scratch the surface in terms of what it was like to be 20 something with a young kid whom people would tell you to keep a secret.  Anyway.. the best parts were the parts you wont see. In between takes Baz was just being his whacky self, posing for pictures with Michele's hat, scaring Evil Angel by pretending to stage dive onto her, singing Mary had a little lamb (isn't that off a joke from the board too??? for an extrovert who loves attention he sure likes snooping on his own board!). Well, Baz remembered me and we took an awesome pic together which will be up soon<along with a more detailed description of the day and everyone else's pictures!> but for now its on my message board! If anyone else who went would like to send in a review, please do!

AC/DC!!!
I went to my first rock concert a little over a week ago and it was AC fukkin DC at the GARDEN!! How awesome is that??  Buckcherry opened and played for about 30- 45mins I must say they had some cool lighting effects! My friend Leash's brother bought me and her beer to celebrate my first concert! He also bugged us all through the opening act since he didnt care much about Buckcherry but oh well. After a nice little (im being nice) set change and some drunk dude not believing im 19, Angus took to the stage and revved up the crowd!! AC/DC opened with Shook Me All Night Long and the crowd went nuts!! Being in a wheelchair standing is not the easiest thing on the planet for me to do but believe me I was standing for about half of the three hour show!! The show was filled with awe inspiring visuals-  a statue that breathed smoke, had glowing horns and he moved, a blow- up dancing half naked woman and a huge bell used as a swing to fly over the crowd in Hells Bells! Of course we also had the pleasure of seeing some sluts flash their tits on the big screen haha!!  Angus played an amazing guitar solo high above the audience on a raised platform near the end of the show and when we thought the show was over they came back out to finish with For Those About To Rock with great pyro and glitter confetti falling from the ceiling and WoW! The whole show just blew me away! To top it all off I found out one of my favorite guitar players was there, Paul Crook! I emailed him about the show and he said he was so moved by Angus's playing and that AC/DC fukkin rocks!! HELL YEAH!!!

Gwen Beyond No Doubt
I love me some No Doubt and it seems that Gwen has been a little busy collaboration wise lately. We've all heard Moby's "Southside" single in which Gwen was featured. Eve, first lady of the Ruff Ryderz also had a chance to collaborate with Gwen on her new single "Let me Blow Ya Mind". Gwen is featured in the single on chorus vocals, as well as being a major part of the video for the song, in which she sports her trademark blonde hair. All I have to say is : You Go On With Your Bad Self Gwen!

BuckCherry
"I think it's important for us to be a loud, in-your-face rock band. We don't want to be a jazz combo or a hip-hop group. Everyone in this band has the leeway to pursue whatever other musical interests they need to pursue, but Buckcherry isn't the vehicle for that." - Keith Nelson on the band, taken from www.buckcherry.com

Buckcherry released their album Time Bomb  on March 27, 2001 on the new DreamWorks Record label, this is there sophomore album, their self-titled first album came out in 1999.  Buckcherry is comprised of:  Joshua Todd, vocals; Keith Nelson, guitar;  Yogi, guitar;  J.B.,Bass;  and Devon Glenn, drums.  Most of the band formed in 1995 in Los Angeles, California but Yogi joined three years later in 1998.   I have yet to hear this album but from what I have been told Buckcherry's new album is kickass full on rock 'n' roll.  Personally I think Joshua Todd looks like the offspring of some Mick Jagger/Steven Tyler late night party but that doesn't mean he cant sing! Click the link above to visit their site. If any of you have heard the album and want to send me a review I'll throw it up in the guest writers section.

Feb. 13th Update.
Ok so im a slacker no actually i couldn't update my page for the past couple of days and my real life tends to interfere  with my ability to update on a regular basis from time to time but hey when you have a fanzine type webpage lets see how up to date  you keep it bitch.  Now then, Peter left KISS and Eric Singer will replace him and wear his makeup and get up too. Well that SUX and thats all I really have to say on the matter.  Oh yeah Metallica's Jason Newsted left them too. His body just cant take the punishment anymore but since Lars has been such a pain in the ass whiner lately I dont really care about Metallica right now.  Oh yeah and my friend told me last night that Bon Jovi had a concert airing on the Family Channel.  All I have to say is how pathetic does a rock band have to be to air a show on the family channel???? I mean damn! Whats next a concert in front of the castle at the Magic Kingdom?
