The story starts on the stage of futuristic Earth and shifts into the Inner World, a world that is unbelievable. A pillar of purple light hits Earth and awakens Wind who remained has hibernated. It also awakens Cloud, who is Wind's arch-enemy, which led to the two beings fighting. 12 years later, Ai and Yu sat on the train to the Inner World in order to search for their parents. This is where they met Lisa, a young, mysterious woman.  After they reach the Inner World, they found a chocobo that led them to find Wind.
