I saw Alien vs. Predator the weekend it came out in August 2004. It was a wonderful movie and it implanted the seeds in my mind for this comic strip Life On Earth. I couldn't stop thinking about the idea of doing a story about and Alien and a Predator that were friends and lived together like humans. No one's ever done that and I wanted to be the first. I found myself thinking more and more about it until I was obsessing. Two weeks after the movie came out I couldn't take it anymore. The ideas were just pouring out of my head and they wanted to burst out like a young chest buster ready for its new life. The first thing I did was write down my ideas in a notebook so I wouldn't forget some of the crazy stuff that would make me laugh out loud to what seemed to others for no reason. I always have my reasons for everything I do. My husband Chris has been a great help and I consider him to be my writer since he came up with more ideas. I mostly draw them.
Once I started drawing I worked furiously to get at least eight or ten done to put on line. I wanted to have the plot and continuity established. Yes there is continuity in this and some episodes build on others, while some can stand alone. I keep writing down ideas in the notebook so what you see here is certainly NOT it. There are pleanty more stories to come. I think I have enough material for 'two seasons' if you will stick with me to watch what will unfold. There are many more characters yet to be introduced as you see the by question marked outlines. And no I'm not going to spoil it by telling you who they are.
One thing that's been difficult for me is cutting back on the amount of detail. Being that it's a comic strip I wanted to simplify things. If you've seen my other art then you know I love to add loads of detail. Not here. I'm trying to make things easier on myself, of which I'm not doing a good job. I've been told by many I do everything the hard way and it's true and I'm happy doing things with difficulty. So you might see some detail slip in here and there. I'm very proud of the way many of these have turned out as I feel that I've vastly improved in my photoshop abilities since my early days. This comic strip is also for all ages. I take pride in my stories being clean so you won't find any disgusting X rated material. Stanly and Byron are above that sort of nonsence. Although Stanly does get annoyed by Byron's potty mouth at times. I'd say at most you can rate my comic as being R. Killing and violence are good things especially when you're a natural born hunter. So enjoy the stories you're in for quite a ride.
