Morning: Number 8 PrinzAlbrech Strasse
Heydrich looked through his safe for
a file. After the night before, he figured he'd do some more
background checks on Kroenen. After looking around a bit, he
took out the file and started to look through it. When he got
to the birth and death dates he was shocked to see that the death
date section was filled in.
"He has a death date?? How is this possible?" Heydrich
thought. There was a soft knock at the door and Heydrich looked
up with wide eyes. Kroenen was at the door. It was much harder
to travel in daylight. He pulled the collar of his leather trench
coat up around his artificial cheeks, tipped his hat down low
over his eyes and tried to hide his chin. He grabbed the handle
and slowly turned it stepping inside. Heydrich quickly hid the
file and greeted Kroenen as he stepped into the room.
"Good day." Heydrich then motioned for him to come and
sit in one of the huge chairs in his office. "I have a few
questions for you today." Kroenen went in and took a seat.
"Yes? How may I be of service to you?"
Heydrich crossed his arms giving Kroenen another icy stare. He
reached under the mat on his desk then revealed the file holding
it up in the air in his right hand.
"I saw a death date written on your file. Can you explain?
I wasn't aware that I was speaking to a corpse." Kroenen's
eyes would have gone wide if they could have.
"There must be some sort of mistake. It
it must have
been because of the accident. I can't believe this. Whoever
filed my paperwork must have thought I really died."
Heydrich looked at it again frowning.
"It doesn't say anything about the accident either. It's
a bit perplexing to me." Heydrich said in a sarcastic tone.
"It doesn't?" Kroenen said desperately trying to think
of a way out of the mess he was in.
"It says you died by being gunned down defending the camp."
Heydrich replied agitation growing in his voice. Kroenen placed
his fingers over his face where his mouth would have been. It
made a Clink sound as his fingers made contact. He stood up thinking
and then turned his back to Heydrich. Heydrich slammed his file
down, and stood up.
"Tell me is this some kind of a prank, or is this real?"
He said as he leaned against desk with one hand on his Luger.
"Are you and allied spy?" Heydrich asked suspiciously,
eyeing Kroenen over.
"What? No. I assure you I am not! The accident isn't
mentioned?" He said as he turned back toward his superior.
Heydrich picked up the file again and looked it over. "No.
It says your dead."
Kroenen moved forward to say something but stopped. His eyes
began to glow red once more. He knew he'd been caught there was
nothing he could say. His mind tried to come up with another
lie but nothing came to him, and now Heydrich thought he was a
spy. Kroenen turned away thinking and angered at himself as well.
"I..." Is all he could say. Heydrich kept his hand
on his Luger.
"Take off your mask!" Heydrich said with some fear in
his eyes. The red glow was unnerving. Kroenen felt a cold chill
run through him and his stomach churned. His heart just sank
when he heard that.
"What?" He said almost in a whisper.
"Take off your mask, that's an order!" Heydrich yelled.
"I can arrest you for not following orders from a superior."
Heydrich said getting impatient. Kroenen took a step forward
and placed his hand on his face as though he were going to remove
it then paused.
"I...can not." He said slightly annoyed. Heydrich
pulled out his luger and held it up at Kroenen.
"I can have you arrested." Heydrich repeated taking
Kroenen's response as a sign of defiance. That was something
Heydrich could not tolerate. Kroenen's eyes flashed and he took
a step back.
"I can not remove it because.....because I can NOT remove
MY FACE! I am not disobeying your orders, Sir. I am not a spy."
Heydrich was taken aback by this. He was almost sure he had caught
a spy; but he still held him at gunpoint.
"What's going on here. Why is there a death date on your
file? Are you whom you claim to be?"
"Forgive me sir. There are some things I said that weren't
entirely true, but I am who I claim to be." Kroenen said
trying to sound non-threatening. "If I were a spy do you
think I would have saved your life?"
Heydrich thought back to that night.
"No.. no you wouldn't have..." Heydrich said still suspicious.
"But can you tell me the real story?" He asked.
"Alright. I hadn't told you at first because the truth is
more unbelievable than what I made up. I am Karl Kroenen, and
I AM dead." He paused letting that sink in. Heydrich of
course did not believe it.
"Can you tell me any thing else?" Heydrich said suspiciously
"I know this is hard to believe." He looked around
nervously. "Are we alone here? Perhaps it's best I just
show you but no one else must see."
"For now. Show me!" Heydrich said.
"Well, Himmler isn't as off his rocker as you think. Your
file is correct. It would be. The SS doesn't make those kind
of blatant errors. I did die fighting to defend my concentration
camp, but I made contact with the dark ones. They let me return
in this new form. This is my face you see."
Heydrich was speechless for a minute.
"Himmler
so you're an occultist?" Heydrich was
letting this sink in a while. It just seemed so unreal to him.
"Yes I am. I am in direct contact with the underworld.
In death I am now their agent of destruction, a hired assassin
actually. I am no longer human. All of me has been converted
to this metallic form." He said as he removed his leather
gloves and held his robotic hands out to Heydrich. "These
are not gauntlets I am wearing." Heydrich looked at him
a while
"And that's how you were able to shoot the planes down?
I see. Anything else I should see?" He said lowering his
pistol.
"You knew about that didn't you?" Kroenen asked refereeing
to the incident in Berlin, but not surprised. He knew how intelligent
Heydrich was.
"Yes I did that. Allow me to demonstrate to you more proof
of what I have told you." He walked back to the far end
of the room. He spread his arms out to his sides with the fingers
out stretched and the palms facing Heydrich. Suddenly two long
double-edged blades shot out from his arms from beneath his sleeves.
Kroenen held them out a moment then brought them up crossing
them over his chest. Heydrich grinned a bit, but then took it
off, knowing it wouldn't be right to pull him into the SD as an
assassin. There must be something to this. Kroenen wouldn't
have just come. He was impressed by the swords though.
"Why have you come?" Heydrich asked, "Is the war
lost already?"
Kroenen's eyes flashed again. How he wanted to help but he was
forbidden to do so.
"I can not tell you anything about the future, but just know
to not give in. I have returned because I wished to see the fatherland
one more time. I may not have a chance to return here again.
I..." Kroenen stopped. This was very difficult for him.
"I see." Said Heydrich nodding. "Do go on though.
Even though I don't know if I will live in the Wannsee house
or not.. it doesn't matter to me. So it isn't permanent is this?"
Kroenen retracted his blades and stepped toward him.
"My stay? No it is sadly not. I answer to new masters now.
I am not to interfere and I do believe I shall be punished upon
my return for the attack on those planes that you saw."
"Hmm. If I had known then I would have gone to the airfield.
This won't have any affect on me by knowing this will it?"
"I do not know. I was not supposed to run into anyone.
I never expected that I would find of all people you. But I do
not think so."
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Kroenen turned his back
to the door the moment he heard the knock. He did not wish to
be seen by anyone else. Heydrich went to unlock it and Siegfried
Hoffmann, a Gestapo, agent came in and whispered something to
Heydrich. He then quickly left, shutting the door behind him.
"Cologne was bombed over night." Heydrich said quietly
as he looked back to Kroenen.
Kroenen slowly turned to Heydrich when he heard the horrible
news.
"What? No. It can't be! There must be some mistake!"
"No. Siegfried has never failed me. He's a reliable source.
I am going there, if you'd like to come with me on my private
train." Heydrich said. Kroenen just stared a moment at
him.
"No. I know a better way, but first could you please answer
something for me before we leave. In the time that I have been
gone what has happened to my good friend Sieghard Hagen? When
I died he too was in the SS."
Heydrich was willing to give Kroenen the file. He looked up in
the H's, and pulled out a file, then handed it over to Kroenen.
He looked through the file then tossed it onto the desk.
"He's gone too." He said as he placed his arm on the
wall. "So that's how it happened. At least he went down
fighting too."
Heydrich sighed. He felt kind of bad.
"So how are we getting to Cologne?" Heydrich asked uneasily.
Kroenen looked up trying to control his temper. He had to go
see his city after what had just happened.
"In a way we shall fly, but through space and time."
He held out his hand and a portal formed at his fingertips swirling
like a black hole. He then looked at Heydrich who looked at the
portal somewhat terrified.
"In there?" He said, fear in his voice.
"Do not be frightened. I shall be with you. You have to
trust me. I am the one controlling this doorway. We shall be
there faster than any train could ever hope to go." He held
out his cold iron hand to him. Heydrich quickly wrote something
out, and then followed Kroenen into the portal. The letter he
had written to his wife, saying he was on the Russian front, flying
for the Luftwaffe. Kroenen helped him inside. Once there strange
reddish clouds swirled by them. The place was very unusual.
Heydrich looked around, curiously.
"If you were to take me into the future, would you tell me
how I died then? Or how I would have died?" Heydrich felt
stupid for asking, but he wanted to keep his mind off of the portal
and swirling clouds around him.
"I can not do that." Kroenen said.
On the outskirts of Cologne another portal
opened up. Inside the clouds vanished and soon the two stood
in the ruins of the once proud city. Kroenen took a step forward
and gasped. Dust hung all around in the air and the skeletons
of buildings were all that remained. Cologne was a prime target
for the Allies since it was seated right on the Rhine. It was
an important shipyard and train yard. Kroenen began to walk off
in no particular direction almost like a zombie. He couldn't believe
the horrors he was witnessing as he trudged along. Heydrich looked
around, and thought about everything that had just happened.
He wandered around anywhere where there was some kind of a path
to follow. Kroenen walked aimlessly. He would kick rubble out
of his way trying to find anything that looked remotely familiar.
As he rounded a corner he saw it. In the distance through the
smoke stood two enormous towers like giant ghosts. They were
still standing.
"I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!" He yelled as he ran toward them.
Heydrich heard his yell, and he ran in the other direction to
see what had gone on. It was the Cathedral of Cologne and it
was still perfectly intact. The structure was tremendous. Kroenen
ran toward it. He stopped at the stairs kicking up dust as he
did so and craned his neck up looking at it. The train yard which
ran right next to it had been hit but the church had miraculously
been spared. Heydrich quietly watched. He didn't want to say
anything, and didn't feel he should. It wasn't his city that
had been bombed. There was an eerie moment of silence as Kroenen
stood transfixed looking up at the church.
"It was spared. Why was it spared?" He let out an
anguished scream and fell to his knees with his head hung down.
He buried his face in his hands.
"Why DID THIS HAPPEN?!? No, my beautiful Cologne what has
happened to you??" Kroenen wept loudly. His cries were
clearly audible. His shoulders heaved up and down from the strong
emotion. Heydrich wanted to walk over to him, but didn't know
what to do or say; he'd never seen anyone as upset until now,
and started to feel bad. The tail of Kroenen's coat flared out
on the dusty steps. He held this pose sobbing. Anger was building
up within him as well. Even though this had happened so long
ago he was here now.
"It's gone. It's all gone!"
Heydrich went over to him.
"If there's anything I can do." Heydrich trailed off.
Kroenen brought his face out of his hands. He slowly looked
up at Heydrich. To Heydrich's surprise Kroenen's face was dry
as a bone. He'd wept so hard yet he had no tears. His eyes were
shinning a bright crimson. Heydrich's eyes seemed to change
color. Instead of cold icy blue they were a bit warmer.
"I'm... sorry this happened." Heydrich wasn't used to
this at all. Kroenen balled his hands into fists and stood up
with determination. He could not take it any longer as he felt
pain, sorrow and anger fighting within him. This was the place
he had grown up in and that he loved, and now it was shattered
and destroyed like everything else in his life. Everything had
been destroyed and obliterated. His family, his friends, his
best friend, his life, his body, the war; all lost. The war.
Kroenen thought about that again.
"I'm sorry too. I'm sorry I've been standing around doing
nothing, but NO MORE!" He threw a punch at a near by piece
of concrete and smashed it into rubble. "I shall no longer
play by their rules! I cannot stand by and do nothing. We will
NOT Loose this war! I shall see to that. They may punish me
if they like, but I can not die so let them!!" He said it
with a fervent ernesty. "I've lost my life, my best friend
and my city. I refuse to loose anything else!!"
Heydrich grinned cynically all of a sudden.
"Does this mean we're going back? And I can go shoot down
the RAF planes?" As stupid as he sounded at the moment, he
wanted to win the war. Kroenen placed his cold heavy hand on
Heydrich's shoulder.
"Yes. We are going back. They will pay for what they have
done here. You have my wicked blessing. You shall bring down
hundreds as will I!" He said unsheathing his swords again.
Heydrich was still grinning. He would see the end of the war,
and he felt Germany would win.
"I'll have to get rid of that letter I suppose but I am going
on the Russian front to shoot down those communists." He
got a fiery glint in his eyes as he thought of shooting the planes
down. Kroenen lifted his arm and opened the portal again but
spoke before going through.
"That you shall, but I will send some help with you. I can
not win this war alone but with the help of some of my underlings
we surely will."
Heydrich nodded " I see. He then followed Kroenen through
the portal. The two found themselves once again in the office
from which they had started. Heydrich quickly took the note and
burned it as was typical of a nazi to burn papers.
"When you are done that won't be the only thing burning."
Kroenen said with a chuckle. "You shall see victory and
watch the gates of Moscow fall!" He said shaking his fist
violently in the air. How he wished he could smile.
"We will not lose this war I swear it. But I must first
summon my two assistants. With them working for me we are assured
victory." Kroenen said. Heydrich nodded in agreement.
"I have to go to Prague today, and tomorrow I'll be heading
back here first by car, then by plane; whichever I feel like.
I'll be in Prague till about 10, then I'll be leaving."
"Very well. It's been a pleasure serving with you, Sir.
Heil!" He saluted him then left.
Heydrich then went back to his work for about 5 minutes, then
packed it up, and left for the airfield and flew his Fieseler
Storch to Prague.
Kroenen found himself in an open field.
He opened another portal and called for his two subordinates
to show themselves. First to step out was Sahel Razaq Zaraq.
He appeared to be Arab with his turban and shaggy flowing garbs.
His face was covered by a scarf so only his yellow eyes could
be seen. What little skin was visible was tough wrinkled and
leathery. Next to walk through the gateway was Destina Gomez.
She was a beautiful Spanish woman with dark wavy hair and emerald
green eyes. She wore the armor and helmet of a Spanish conquistador
and a tan overcoat and carried a sword at her side. Kroenen explained
the situation.
"You know that the dark one will not be pleased if you help
me with this. Are you prepared for that?" He asked.
"We will do as you say. We are loyal to you my lord."
Destina said stepping forward. Sahel came up to him next.
"I would be honored to assist you. I have been around long
enough and believe I can take his wrath when the time comes."
Kroenen cocked his head at the two. "Good." He said.
Though he did not express it, loyalty like this was very important
to him and he did appreciate them placing their souls on the line
for him.
"Destina, you must warn Der Führer of what is to come.
Sahel, take care of that nasty storm that will come on the Russian
front." The two nodded and took off leaving Kroenen alone.
He was very pleased with the work that Destina and Sahel had
done for him in the past. The three made a good team. Suddenly
Kroenen's eyes flashed bright. He'd forgotten what day it was.
He'd sent the other two out to change history but now he had
to do the same for there was no one else around. He knew Heydrich
was in great danger. "Oh no." He said quietly at the
horrible realization.
May 27 1942: Heydrich woke up earlier than normal, and got ready
to leave Prague, for Berlin. He picked up a security notice about
resistance forces, and read it.
"Pah. They honestly think my Czechs would do anything to
me?" He laughed a bit sarcastically and tossed the paper
out. By 10 O'clock he was ready, and headed out to the car, and
then proceeded out of the building on the normal route to the
airfield.
Kroenen held his head thinking hard. Where was the exact location
that it had happened? He wasn't sure exactly where he needed
to be. He only felt he was running out of time.
Heydrich looked down at the new papers he got this morning as
the car went down the Kirchmayerstraße getting closer and
closer to a hairpin turn in the road.
A vague image came to Kroenen's mind. It was close enough and
all the cyborg needed. He lifted his hand opening a madly spinning
portal and ducked inside of it.
Suddenly, Heydrich's driver, OberscharFührer Klein had slowed
down more than usual on that turn. Heydrich looked up and saw
someone with a sten gun pointing at him. He felt a sickening
feeling in the pit of his stomach as pressed himself into the
seat of the car realizing that he was about to be assassinated.
Not without a fight though, Heydrich reached for his luger in
his coat.
Kroenen's portal opened up not far from the treasonous scene.
The moment he stepped out of it he knew what was happening.
He moved like a black streak and unsheathed his swords. Quickly
and silently he breezed in behind the would be assassin and impaled
him through the back. His blade exited with a spray of blood
that splattered red drops all over the windows of the car. The
man never had a chance to pull the trigger. Kroenen lowered his
arm and let the body slide off his blade as he looked around for
more malefactors. Heydrich had just pulled his luger when he
saw the gruesome scene as a spray of red spurt out and cover the
left rear passenger window. "That sword." He thought
then Kroenen came to mind. A second man suddenly appeared on
the right side of the car. Heydrich swung his arm around aiming
at this new attacker and stopped horrified when he witnessed the
man toss a bomb toward his car. Thinking this was the end Heydrich
fired. Kroenen snapped his head up and saw the man that would
kill his superior officer. No, he'd never let it happen! This
is why he had come, to stop atrocities such as this. He leaped
up and somersaulted over the car just missing Heydrich's bullet.
It sailed past missing the killer as well. He landed perfectly
between the car and the killer and with one arching sweep of his
sword severed the man's head at the shoulders. Blood spurted
out of the convulsing body and the head rolled into the street
like a loose cannon ball. Just as it seemed his mission had been
accomplished the bomb his enemy had tossed fell at his feet.
Kroenen whirled around and yelled at the driver.
"DRIVE!!! MOVE IT THAT'S AN ORDER!!"
The OberscharFührer slammed his foot on the accelerator then
drove off as fast as he could. Heydrich fell back into the back
seat, slamming his head on the door. He got up holding his head,
picked up his luger and looked around to re-orient himself. Kroenen
lifted his foot ready to take his first running step, but quick
as he was it was of too late. The bomb went off under him in
a large cloud and an ear-piercing explosion followed. He was
thrown forward high into the air, his long coat ripped to shreds.
When he hit the ground several metal parts were ripped off his
body as he slid forward on the hard pavement and at last came
to a rest. There was a faint red glow in his eyes as he held
out his hand for assistance. He couldn't move and felt his vision
fading away. Heydrich saw what had happened and almost slapped
his driver telling him to stop. He got out and ran back to Kroenen.
OberscharFührer Klein followed. Heydrich didn't know what
to do. Taking him to the hospital would be of no use for no one
would know what to do. Kroenen heard their footsteps coming toward
him yet he could do nothing. He just lay there in the street.
"Who...who's there?" He asked in a completely artificial
voice. Heydrich spoke for both him and the driver.
"Its Heydrich and Klein, the oberscharFührer."
"Mein Herr...do not...stay. Too...dangerous...Ah!"
Kroenen tried to turn over but the pain was too much for him.
He just slumped back down weakly. Heydrich shook his head.
He was upset at what had happened, and wanted so terribly to
do something to help.
"They're dead and I have to do something. I can't leave
you here. You saved my life twice, and I say I owe you for that."
Kroenen tried to look up at him.
"It is...my duty."
Heydrich's eyes had become dull again, and he had a worried expression.
"There has to be something I can do!" He said frustrated.
He tried to lift him and strained under his weight. It came
as a shock to Heydrich that Kroenen seemed to weight a ton.
"Destina...or...Sahel. I need to...go to...one of them."
Kroenen said as he tried to pull himself up with no success.
"I don't think I can help you up but is there any way I can
contact them? Anything at all I can do tell me?!?" Heydrich
said with a worried tone.
"Destina...went to find...Hitler. Sahel
" Before
he could finish he was interrupted by the sound of angry voices
coming from an alleyway not too far from them. Kroenen knew they
were coming to see if their men had finished their job.
"They're coming. You must go...or they will...attack. It's
too dangerous...here."
Heydrich looked up
"Damn it!" Heydrich said. "I'll fly to Berlin
and look. Klein, get back in the car and get me to the airfield.
I'll be back." Heydrich said, going to his car. He sat
down, still looking back as the car drove away. As Heydrich
drove off, more Czechs ran into the street and walked over to
the massacre. Their two agents had been slaughtered. Entrails
lays strewn out on the floor. Heydrich's body was nowhere insight
so it was obvious they had failed. Then they saw him, a wounded
Nazi lying in the street. They walked over to him noting the
strange parts in the road. Upon looking closer they realized
that he wasn't exactly human. It took four of them to lift him
and they carried him off like a consolation prize.
Destina suddenly looked up. She had
easily gotten past Hitler's security and was actually having a
friendly conversation with him. She found it funny how he kept
smiling at her almost amused by her. Suddenly she had a sinking
feeling wash over her. "Kroenen." She said in a whisper.
"Hum? What was that?" Hitler said not sure what she
had just mumbled. She looked back at him.
"I'm sorry, but I must go. Just remember what I warned you
about. The situation is serious. I promise you the war shall
be won. We'll meet again." Before he even had a chance
to utter a word she'd leaped out the window and was gone. She
knew something had happened to Kroenen she could just feel it.
She thought back to the last thing they had gone over. He had
last been with that Heydrich fellow.
"If he's with him then that's where I'll go. Oh I hate these
gateways. How does Kroenen make it look so easy?" Destina
held out both hands trying to create a warp in space-time. She
concentrated her thoughts on Heydrich and watched as finally a
small gateway did open up.
Heydrich just arrived on the airfield in Berlin to look for help
for Kroenen. He feared what the Czechs were doing to him.
As Destina was about to step in someone fell out. A girl with
long blond hair, blue eyes, all black clothes, and a height of
about 5'8'' tumbled out onto the ground. Her name was Halle.
"Ahh!! It's Berlin!!" She started to get a bit scared
and at the same time as excited. "What just happened?"
She said, looking around wide-eyed.
"What the? Who are you and where did you come from?"
Destina asked annoyed. The portal suddenly vanished. "Oh
no!" Destina said angrily. "I'm gonna have to put
you back from where ever you came from!" She yelled as she
looked at the girl before her.
"I'm from 2004. I'm actually the reincarnation of Reinhard
Heydrich. I was sitting on my bed doing a regression, and suddenly
I'm here, but don't send me back, I have to see Heydrich before
I go!" Halle begged.
"Oh no! This is not happening." Destina said holding
her head. "I got the wrong one. I forgot to concentrate
on the time now!! ARG! Alright you. Since I'm looking for him
you may as well come along but I warn you the moment I get the
chance I'm sending you back. I don't need you getting in my way."
Halle then made a thankful gesture.
"Danke schoen, and I swear I won't be a pain." She
grinned at the thought of meeting Heydrich. Destina rolled her
eyes. She wasn't sure where to find Heydrich. Everything was
different now and all she cared about was finding out what happened
to Kroenen. No more portals that was for sure. She began to
walk off in an arbitrary direction.
"Erm.. I hate to bother you, but if you're looking for Heydrich
he's probably at the Luftwaffe base. I saw him flying right before
I came here." Halle said nervously.
Destina shot her a glance with her bright green eyes.
"What? How could you have seen him before you came through
the gateway?"
"I was doing a past life regression looking back into his
life. He was flying. And I know it was to Berlin. I just feel
it. He was probably coming from Czechoslovakia. " She replied.
"Ok ok!! It's a good a place as any. Everything's different
now I can feel it. I hope Kroenen's alright." She said
as she continued to search.
"Who is Kroenen?" Halle asked.
"Someone very important. I'll explain later." Destina
said in an annoyed tone. Heydrich came into Halle's view. He
was walking down the street to the Reichskanzlei to find Hitler
and Destina. He looked a bit distressed.
"I think I see him!" Halle exclaimed squinting somewhat
to see him.
"I think you're right." Destina said as she raced over
to him. Halle followed. She was actually going to be in the
presence of Reinhard Heydrich. Heydrich saw two people coming
over to him. Destina went right up to him and was very up front.
"Are you Reinhard Heydrich?" She asked in a stern tone.
"Yes," He replied "Why?" Halle stood and
watched, not wanting to be a burden. She couldn't take her eyes
off of Heydrich though.
"Good!" Destina said. "Where is Kroenen? I had
this horrible feeling creep over me. You were the last human
he was with. Where is he?!"
Heydrich let out a sigh.
"He's been captured by Czech resistance fighters in Prague."
Heydrich trailed off.
"WHAT?? How could that have happened?!!" Destina asked
frantically.
"Well, today was the day the Czechs decided to try to assassinate
me, and he saved my life." Heydrich said.
"So he saved your life and was captured? And you just left
him behind? How could you??!" Destina asked furious.
"He told me to leave him." Heydrich said. All he could
think of saying was that. "I didn't know what else to do
but to listen to him, and try to find you."
She sighed. "That sounds like Kroenen alright. Do you
have any idea how much he loves this country and its leaders?
Do you realize the things he'd do for you? That's why he lost
his life in the first place. I don't understand him."
"This is the second time he's saved me." Heydrich said,
recalling the bombing. "He really loves Cologne too."
He said.
"Yes his home...oh no." Destina said remembering the
timeline. "It was destroyed wasn't it? I remember him telling
us about it."
"Yes. I went there with him. He was really upset."
Heydrich replied.
"That's what set him off. That's why he asked for our help.
I've got to find him. How was he captured when he's such a powerful
being?" Destina asked still confused.
"Well, the second assassin threw a bomb at my car, and he
was there when it exploded. He told me to get out of there before
it exploded, and that's when it happened."
She gasped as she put her fingers up to her cheeks.
"Then he's hurt. How could you have left him after everything
he did for you?!? I have to help him! I have to get him out
before they do something to him!" Destina yelled angry at
the whole situation. Heydrich grit his teeth as he remembered
getting in his car and leaving the wounded Kroenen on the ground.
"I'm sorry, but there was nothing I could do for him! I
wanted to help him but there just wasn't anyway, but what's done
is done. I'd rather not dwell on this. Yes I made a mistake
so let's correct it!" He said feeling even worse about everything
now.
The entire time Halle had been staring
at Heydrich. She could sense just how bad Heydrich felt about
leaving. She could not believe that she was standing in his presence.
That's when he noticed her.
"Who's she?" He asked. Destina sighed remembering
the new companion she had tagging along.
"I'm not as good with gateways as Kroenen is. She kind of
fell out of the future as I tried to find you. Her name is Halle."
Heydrich couldn't help but stare at her. She looked so much like
he did. He snapped out of his daze suddenly.
"Any other important things about her? She's named after
my birth city. Anyway, I could get my plane and go to Prague."
"I'll let Sahel know. We'll need his help. Let's not waste
any time. Who knows what they may do to him." Destina said
as she placed her hand on her temple and sent out a telepathic
call to her partner. Miles away Sahel was alerted of the situation.
Halle couldn't wait any longer. She had to talk to Heydrich.
"Heydrich..." was all she could say. Heydrich didn't
really know what to say to her either. The three began to walk
off when not far ahead of them a tall man in tattered clothes
and a turban walked toward them. His eyes were a bright yellow
and his face was covered by his scarf. Heydrich expected someone
new, but he wasn't expecting the way he looked. Halle also looked
on. She was now standing behind Heydrich, and was only about
6 inches shorter than him. Sahel narrowed his eyes and stared
at the two. He didn't care for humans anymore. He stepped up
to them, his claws clicking on the ground with each step. Heydrich
returned the look. Halle hid behind Heydrich not liking this
man's frightening appearance. Sahel looked each one in the eye
a moment then at Destina. "You'd better not tell me they
are coming with us!" He growled. Heydrich didn't care for
Sahel's attitude. Halle was a bit freaked out that she'd get
a glare. She hated being looked at just like Heydrich did.
"The child was my mistake." Destina said as she glanced
at Halle then pointed at Heydrich. "This one insists."
She said. Sahel eyed her a moment.
"They'll slow us down! If they get lost it's their own fault.
We'll do what we have to without them."
Destina shook her head. "It's not that simple. This one
was the one that Kroenen risked his life for." The two talked
about them as though they weren't even there. Sahel growled at
her.
"We're wasting TIME!! I'm going with or without you!"
Halle then snapped to attention as if she were an SS soldier.
"I have to stop acting like a wuss she thought It's degrading
to me." She thought.
