Back to the Past Again 3

In a dark hidden lab Kroenen lay strapped to a table. Parts of him were malfunctioning and would not respond. He wondered just what parts he had lost. His captors had removed his uniform revealing much of his true steel from.
Heydrich pulled out a small map of Prague, and had circled the place where he had gathered that the Czechoslovakian resistance may have been.
"This is where the intelligence I've gathered leads us." Heydrich explained. Destina and Sahel looked over the map.
"Let's go then. Who knows what they'll do to him once they realize what he is." Destina said. Heydrich then pocketed the map again, and pulled Halle over towards him, absentmindedly. "Portal?" Heydrich asked. Destina fidgeted when she heard that and looked at Sahel. He nodded understanding her limited ability to control one and that this would be the fastest means of getting to where they need to be. He waved his hand and a spinning blue disk formed before them. Destina stepped through first. Sahel waited for Halle and Heyrich so he could close the portal behind him.
Heydrich went in first, and helped Halle in, somehow knowing she was somewhat of a klutz. Destina stepped out into the city followed by the other three and the portal shut behind them. The streets were fairly silent. Heydrich pulled his Luger prepared for any unforeseen event.
"I've been meaning to ask you." He said to Destina. "What did you mean by 'realize what he is'? He never fully told me." Destina looked back at him.
"It's understandable that he would not tell you. He wanted you to think he was still human. Sahel could explain it better. He's known him longer than I have." The tattered man stepped up to Heydrich and began to explain.
"He's what in the future they will call a cyborg; part man part machine though in this case he's mostly a machine. We all went through changes before we were allowed to return. That was the form They chose for him. He doesn't always like it and tries to pass off as human."
Heydrich nodded.

In the lab several men stood over Kroenen. He could just make them out. One clearly a doctor held some type of tool in his hand and stepped into the light where he could see him. "What are you?" He said as he looked into Kroenen's face. Kroenen struggled to get up but could not move. "That isn't a mask is it?" The doctor said as he reached for Kroenen's face and upon feeling it realized it was not. "Amazing!" He said as he jammed the tool into Kroenen's shoulder. Kroenen screamed out but was restrained by the others.
Halle suddenly heard something echo in the silent streets.
"I think I heard something! " They were close to the building only a quarter block away.
"So did I!! Let's go!!" Destina said as she ran off in the direction of the sound. Sahel held his hand over the hilt of his scimitar ready to pull if free if need be. Heydrich and Halle also ran. Halle was unarmed so Heydrich went ahead of her for now since he had his Luger at ready.
The lab was in a near-by building in the basement. The hanging light swung back and forth causing the shadows on the walls to shift like those on a moving ship. The other scientists picked up the most unusual tools Kroenen had seen and began to try and pull him apart starting with his armor. Small pieces fell to the ground and again he screamed out.
"Oh stop moving so much." The doctor said as he tried to hold Kroenen down.
They finally reached the building. The door was unlocked.
"Idiots." Heydrich muttered at their stupidity. He opened the door and a resistance member guarding the door ambushed him. Heydrich responded quick leaning to one side and shot him. The dead guard dropped his MP-40.
"Halle, you take that. Its simple to use." Heydrich said handing her some ammo to go with it. "They're in the basement," Heydrich said, hearing more voices and screams. He held his weapon close to his head and moved on. Sahel roared and leaped onto the walls crawling across them on all four and headed down to the basement. Destina pulled out her long sword and rushed in as well. More guards came at them firing. Destina flipped forward into the air swinging her sword and slicing one of them in half at the mid section. Blood splashed onto the floor. Heydrich took aim at their heads. His aim was dead on and skulls shattered taking down the enemies in one shot. Their decapitated bodies fell limp to the ground. Halle killed some with the MP-40. She wasn't too bad with it.
Below the scientists heard the commotion.
"Hurry!" The doctor said as he continued to pry into the mechanical Nazi. He took a small blade and stuck it into Kroenen's side. A mixture of blood and oil poured onto the floor as he yelled getting weaker all the while. "Incredible. Are you a man under all this or are you a weapon? You can't be alive. To have something like you on our side would give us quit an edge. Hurry, don't stop working on him!" The doctor said as he continued to try and take him apart.
"KROENEN!!!" Destina yelled when she recognized his voice. Sahel seemed to go into a frenzy as well upon hearing his calls and leaped onto two men digging his claws into their bellies and tearing them apart before they had a chance to retaliate. He leaped off of them onto another biting into his neck and snapping it. Heydrich and Halle still were killing the usual way. Halle finding a half dead resistance fighter went sadistic and left him to die a painful death. Heydrich was a bit shocked, but was too busy trying to finish off all the other resistance fighters he could. Sahel's yellow eyes were animalistic as he killed. Destina leaped back and forth swinging her sword and planting aerial kicks into the faces of her opponents as she did so. She finally broke through their line.
"THIS WAY!!" She yelled as she ran in. She stopped short when she found a long dank dingy hallway and several doors on each side. Which one was he in, she thought in desperation. Sahel looked up and ran after her on all four leaving the shredded corpses behind him. Heydrich and Halle then started breaking down doors. The first two contained only resistance soldiers, which were shot on the spot by both of them.
"Damn it!" Heydrich said when he found the fighters.
"This isn't good." Destina said as she continued to fight the on coming attacks, her sword a blur as she sung it. "How will we find him?"
Heydrich reappeared out of one of the rooms now empty all but dead resistance fighters. "Well, we might just have to go through all the doors, but it has to be done fast!" Heydrich said.

In the lab the doctor and his fellow scientists continued to work on Kroenen.
"I don't understand how this can be? How can he have oil running along side blood?" The sounds of gunfire were getting louder. "Quickly. If they get too close we must take him out of here! We can't let him fall into the wrong hands." The doctor said. Kroenen tried to sit up but the restraints would not let him.
Halle decided to try her luck on the one door at the end of the hallway. This one was the right one. She shot off the lock and kicked the door open, then shouted to the others.
"I FOUND IT!!" Heydrich started running to the door after killing one of the resistance fighters that was left. Destina whipped her head around and ran towards Halle who was at a far door on the opposite side of the hallway.
"KROENEN!!" She called out. Sahel roared and followed her over. Inside a few of the braver scientists took up guns to defend their test subject. The doctor and the others tried to move Kroenen into another room by moving his table which was on wheels. Heydrich began to shoot at them like mad. He didn't care that they had submachine guns. Halle was helping Heydrich kill them, and was beginning to run low on ammo. One of the scientists in white rushed at her and before he could draw his weapon hr was thrown to his feet. Halle looked up to see Sahel on top of him tearing the man to bits. Destina ran past them all into the side room and found what she was looking for. Heydrich picked up some extra ammo and a submachine gun that was dropped, and started killing off any remaining resistance fighters. Halle also started getting more ammo, helping Heydrich. She quickly thanked Sahel for saving her in the process. He nodded to her smiling behind his scarf then went off to look for Destina. She was in the other room holding the doctor against a wall with her sword. She then saw Kroenen. There were metal parts littered all over the floor. His uniform had been removed and there were little puddles of oil/blood on the floor around his table.
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO HIM?!?!" Destina asked in a frenzied scream. Heydrich and Halle finished off the last wave that came from the hallway. The rooms were now empty of all but the slaughtered fighters. Then they headed into the back room.

The doctor and the two scientists were all cowering against the wall. They were not fighters and knew they had nowhere to run.
"Just look at him!! What have you done?" Destina said frantically. Halle turned Gestapo on everyone, and she and Heydrich waited by the door, just in case they considered escape. They were itching to shoot the scientists that were cowering, but not until they talked. Sahel pointed his scimitar at them and motioned to Destina with his head that she could go check on Kroenen. She lowered her sword and quickly went to his side. She cut the restraints with her blade then looked him over.
"Well?" Sahel said to the scientists.
"I...I haven't done anything." The doctor said. Halle and Heydrich couldn't stand the waiting any longer. They went over holding up the MP-40s threatening to shoot.
"Sounds like a lie." Heydrich mumbled suspiciously.
"AAHH!! You're alive!!" The doctor screamed surprised to see Heydrich. "I...I...we...we wanted to see what he was. That's all."
Heydrich gave him a most sinister grin.
"Your eyes don't deceive you," Heydrich growled at him "So you did do something. Punishable by death, I say." Heydrich continued.
The doctor began to shiver in fear and tried not to look into Heydrich's blazing blue eyes. "No please. It's not real. It's just a weapon. We just wanted to see...to see how it worked." He said nervously.
Heydrich put down his MP-40 and pulled his Luger out placing it just below his chin, and forcing him to look straight into his eyes. He kept the sinister smile on his face, and spoke in an icy tone.
"I think I might like to see how you work." Heydrich said not really wanting to, but just the fun of scaring this man half to death for revenge was amusing to him. He would kill him or he would leave it to Halle, who was somewhat sadistic in her way of killing.
"AAH!!" The doctor screamed as he felt the cold steel of the gun on his chin. Sweat beaded up on his brow. "What...what would you have me do?" He asked fearfully. Sahel kept an eye on the other two who were just as frightened. Heydrich kept the gun in place.
"Tell us what you've done to Kroenen!" Heydrich said dangerously to him.
"Kroenen? The thing has a name?"
Destina reached into her coat, pulled out a dagger, tossed it at the doctor's head and pinning it to the wall by his right ear. He screamed and blood trickled down the wall. "YES HE has a name and he's not a THING!" She snarled. The doc was almost crying now but he continued to talk.
"We just wanted to see how he worked. We...we tried to remove his armor."
Destina looked Kroenen over. "Looks like you've done more than that." She said.
One of the assistants finally couldn't take it anymore and yelled out.
"He's a machine! Who cares what happens to him!! We just wanted to take him apart!"
Halle went over to him and did just what Heydrich was doing.
"Well you're just a worthless body, so how about we take a little trip to the PrinzAlbrecht Straße basement, and I take you apart, limb, by, limb." Halle knew about how Kroenen saved Heydrich. When they were in one room killing off resistance fighters, he told her about it. She was just as amazed as he was by the incredible things Heydrich told her. Heydrich pushed the luger into him more.
"Lying to a Gestapo official, the chief of the Gestapo no less," Heydrich shook his head, in sarcastic disappointment. "I couldn't have expected some undesirable like you to tell the truth, now could I?"
The assistant stared at Halle.
"What? Are all you Nazis that stupid? And just how many more of these weapons do you have? I wish he had been destroyed!" He yelled at her.
"Like you tried to destroy Heydrich." she growled. Halle hadn't mastered the glare like Heydrich had, but her eyes seemed to be like blue fire. Meanwhile the doctor feared for his life as he was held at gun point by Heydrich.
"No no, please. I wasn't finished."
Heydrich wanted to hear this man's story, though he would be killed anyway, if not taken prisoner in the Gestapo H/Q basement.
"Continue." Heydrich said, still staring at the doctor. Destina ran her hand over Kroenen's arm and looked up.
"Yes why don't you tell us what you did to his shoulder?" The doctor turned his eyes toward her. He couldn't move his face the way he was being held.
"I, I didn't know what he was. We tried to remove the arm." He stopped trying to think of something. Sahel placed his scimitar's blade against the last scientist's neck.
"Perhaps you have a looser tongue!" He said in his gruff voice. Sure enough being the youngest one he was the most fearful and spilled it.
"Ok ok, just don't hurt me. We thought he was a weapon created by you Nazis we tried to take him apart little by little so we could build our own we didn't know he would feel pain but we kept working anyway we didn't know what to make of what we found is he a man or a machine still we kept working thinking it may have been a suit please after that we would have shut him off or terminated him that is everything don't kill me please." It was incredible he got all that out in one breath. Heydrich looked away for a minute, and looked to Destina as if to see if she needed any other information. Sahel didn't bother and sliced the boy's head clean off. Destina smiled just giving the two an affirmative glance with her emerald eyes.
"NO PLEASE NO!!" Cried the doctor. Heydrich gave a sadistic grin.
"Consider it an honor to be shot by Obergruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich." Heydrich said as he pulled the trigger, killing the doctor. Halle couldn't think of much to say to this one. She wanted to make him suffer, but decided just to kill him on the spot. She then laughed after she shot him, and he collapsed.

Destina tried to comfort Kroenen. His metal was completely exposed and there was blood and oil all over the ground.
"Oh dear no. How could this have happened?"
Heydrich and Halle left their dead prisoners, and came over towards Kroenen and Destina.
"Look what they've done." Destina said holding up an oily hand that she lifted off Kroenen's chest. Heydrich swore under his breath at the sight. He was somewhat dumbfounded about what Kroenen really was. He stared at the artificial creature that lay on the table and was being held in the arms of a woman that looked like she's just stepped out of ancient Spain. This being had saved his life more than once, but he was still amazed by what he saw. Same went for Halle seeing as Heydrich and her thought alike. "Can he be fixed?" Heydrich asked.
A faint glow came over into Kroenen's eyes and he slowly turned his head up toward Heydrich and Halle. Destina watched him concerned.
"I don't know." She said. Kroenen recognized them and whispered.
"Mein Herr, I am...glad you are...well."
Heydrich put away the Luger he was still holding, and a distressed look came over his face.
"This is all my fault. Should have gotten here sooner. Damn it!" Heydrich said.
"No...it was my duty...to protect..." Kroenen placed his good arm back and tried to sit up. "...you."
Destina took it in her hand and helped him up. He sat in a slumped over position a few drops of blood trickled to the ground. Sahel came to his side as well. Halle knelt down. Her eyes weren't as they were before but more of a gray-blue.
"Thank you so much for saving Heydrich." she said to Kroenen.
Kroenen turned his gaze on her. He cocked his head. Had he still been human he would have had a warm smile.
"My pleasure. I would... do it again and you are welcome. I know you. I...I shall protect you...as well." He said. Sahel looked at the two and smiled beneath his scarf upon seeing Halle bow, as she should.
"Don't worry, he can be fixed." He told her and Heydrich. Heydrich seemed to let out a sigh of relief, but did it discreetly, not wanting to draw attention. Halle smiled, and stood back up, catching a quick glance of Heydrich. Kroenen tried to stand. Both Destina and Sahel helped him down from the table. He stood a moment and gestured for them to give him room. He took a few weak steps then collapsed to the ground catching himself with his good arm. Heydrich went over to try and help Kroenen up. Of course Halle followed, and did the same. He leaned on them both a moment then looked over at Heydrich when he noticed his own condition.
"This is why I didn't want anyone to see me at first."
"This will never happen again. I'll make sure of it!" Heydrich said definitively. "Where should we go now?" Heydrich asked. Sahel came up to them.
"I shall take him. He needs to return to the underworld where he shall be restored." Heydrich nodded then let Kroenen got with Sahel. Sahel took him from them and lifted him up in his arms. The others were amazed by his strength especially Heydrich for he had tried to lift Kroenen before and knew how heavy he was.
"Wait." Kroenen said. He pointed at Destina. "You stay with them until I return."
Destina nodded and did as she was told.
"I suppose we're going back to Berlin? And Halle, I'd like to have a word with you if that's where we're going." Heydrich said.
"Yes, Heydrich- Herr. Herr Heydrich. " She responded both nervously and excitedly.
"We shall not be long." Sahel said as he opened another portal and carried the limp Kroenen through it. Destina looked at the two.
"Wherever you wish. I am here now to escort you. I hope Kroenen will be alright. Sahel knows what to do better than I anyway."
"Can you take us to Berlin?" Heydrich asked. Halle wondered what Heydrich wanted to talk to her about. Was it that he wanted to get her back into the future? She dreaded that. Destina looked at them nervously not wishing to make another mistake but decided she would try.
"Yes. I can do that." She opened another gateway perfectly this time. They walked into it, halle not tripping, and reappeared on the PrinzAlbrecht Straße, by Heydrich's Gestapo headquarters office. He gestured for them to go in, and then led them to his office.

In Hell Kroenen was taken to an extremely rare part of the realm. Very few knew of this because it was a place of healing. Sahel placed Kroenen on a circular mount and stepped back. Moments later a bright light shot up engulfing the cyborg. His shattered parts were repaired and his missing ones were recreated. He felt a soothing warmth as the light swirled around him.
Heydrich motioned for Halle to sit at his desk.
"Yes.. Herr Heydrich?" She said a bit nervously.
"I was impressed at the way you handled yourself back in Prague. If I didn't know better, you're just like my reincarnation or something. Anyway. What would you say if I asked you to join the Gestapo and the SD?" Halle was almost speechless.
"I would say... Jawohl mein Herr!" She stood up, saluted Heydrich and clicked her heels.. though they didn't click yet. Destina smiled finding the whole thing amusing. She knew there was still much work left to be done.
In Hell the light finally vanished and Kroenen was gently levitated to the ground. Sahel walked up to him but knew better than to help him up this time. Kroenen always preferred to do things himself. He held his head a moment then slowly got to his feet. The first thing he did was unsheathe the swords in his arms and he brought them up to his face.
"I am whole again!"
Heydrich smiled "I'll give you your SD uniform now. You seem to want it quite a lot. Tomorrow you'll get your papers, and you'll be a citizen of the German Reich. Do you have a place to stay?" He asked. "No, I don't." Halle replied. "Well, you can stay with me until we find a place. It shouldn't be too long." Halle's heart almost stopped. She was going to stay with Heydrich.

Heydrich handed Halle a small pile of clothes, and a few insignias for later. She went into the next room, which was more like a coat closet, and came out as a member of the SD. The uniform was a bit off. Her jackboots were higher than they would be for a lower officer. Heydrich did that on purpose. She went over to Heydrich, and re-saluted him. Clicks were heard this time, and she had a big grin. She put the insignias on the left pocket, and then sat again. Heydrich pulled out a small dark blue box from a drawer, and handed it to her. It was an Iron Cross 2nd class, for what she did back in Prague. He grinned a bit, and her face seemed to light up.
"I think you earned it." Heydrich said in a calm tone. Destina watched from the far opposite end of the room.
Back in Hell Kroenen's feet touched the dark earth and he walked toward Sahel who bowed in his master's presence.
"It's time for my return." Kroenen said.
In the office Destina lifted her head.
"He's back." She said softly.
Heydrich stood up, and stretched a bit.
"I have a suggestion to make to the Führer about Kroenen. I believe he should receive an award for what he did in Prague." Heydrich said. Destina pushed herself away from the wall and walked toward him.
"That would mean so much to him."
"Shall I keep it a surprise?" Heydrich asked.
"Yes." Destina said. "As you've seen he's very secretive about his new form so he'd never agree to this if he knew."
Heydrich nodded.
"Lets take the back exit then. I just have to get Oberscharführer Klein, my driver." Heydrich found him, and they all left through the back, and drove to the Reichskanzlei building, to talk to the Führer.

Der Führer worked at his desk. He frowned and his brow wrinkled as he wrote on a piece of paper. That caused his hair to fall into his eyes. One strand poked him in the eye. This happened to him all the time and he brushed it to the side. The war seemed to be going better but still not well enough. There was a knock on the door. Hitler slammed his pencil on the desk and stood up annoyed placing both hands down.
"Yes, who is it?!?" He yelled.
"Its Heydrich." Heydrich spoke loud enough to be heard through the door. Hitler's angry face faded away.
"Heydrich? Well that's different. Ah, come on in." He said changing his voice to a friendlier tone. He watched him come in accompanied by two others. "Heydrich. What can I do for you? And you, welcome back." He said as he saw Destina return.
"Well first I'll explain Halle. Not quite sure how she got here, but she's a member of my SD, and will be a member of the German Reich tomorrow, of course if it's okay with you. Her background is in order, from what I know. And, I don't think you were notified of the attempted assassination on me. I was heading here from Prague. It's a long story. The only reason I survived was because of the heroic actions of Karl Kroenen. He got severely wounded by the resistance, but as far as I know he's doing better now. I wanted to see if I could get an approval for an award for him saving me." Heydrich explained.
Hitler just stared with wide eyes. He placed his hand on his forehead and gasped.
"I need a moment to let this sink in." He looked at Destina who was waving back at him. At least he had already met her. "Ok, you're allowing a girl into the SD? You were nearly assassinated? And one of our men saved your life?" He fell silent a moment thinking.
"More than once might I add." Destina said holding up her finger to the air.
"WHAT?!?! I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY WOULD TRY TO KILL YOU!! HOW DARE THIS HAPPEN!!" He waved his hands around madly as things began to make sense.
Heydrich nodded.
"Halle behaved as any of my SD soldiers would have, so I thought it would be a good idea to have her join," Heydrich said "and with her, she had no experience in a situation like the one we were all in."
"Are you alright then, Heydrich?" Hitler asked concerned. He looked out the window a little paranoid. "I trust your judgment that's why I put you in command. I will make this one exception and allow a female to join the SD. And this Karl Kroenen, the name sounds familiar."
"I'm well, mein Führer." Heydrich replied. Halle saluted Hitler for making the exception, she wanted it so much. He saluted them giving a strong HEIL!
"No one dares to take on the leaders of the Reich!! Now tell me about this Karl Kroenen. Is he a soldier or an officer? The name sounds familiar to me." He went to a file and tried to find Kroenen's name.
"An Officer." Heydrich said. "He was promoted away from the front to a Concentration Camp."
"Ah that fellow. I remember now. He was such an excellent fighter and killer he seemed perfect for that position." He finally found Kroenen's file and began to read it then came to the section of his death. "Heydrich? Are you sure you are referring to Karl Kroenen? He's dead! Oh for shame what a great record he had."
"Quite sure, mein Führer." Heydrich replied confidently. "Trust me. I wouldn't lie about something so important."
"But he's dead!" Hitler stared at him with his black eyes. "Are you sure you didn't imagine it or it were someone else? How could he have saved you if he's no longer alive?"
Destina stepped up to him.
"Well you are both right. He isn't alive anymore. Yet he did save Heydrich's life."
"It's true," Halle spoke up finally. "I helped save him from the resistance."

Not far away from them, Kroenen stepped through the gateway onto the streets of Berlin. He wore his new leather SS uniform and his coat flowed behind him elegantly. Sahel stepped out next and stood behind his leader. Kroenen unsheathed one of his blades and held it up.
"I shall not fall again."

Inside the office Hitler was still confused about the whole situation.
"I don't understand. Speak German and please explain exactly what's going on. " Hitler said. Heydrich looked at the ceiling.
"How to explain this.. " He mumbled. Der Führer leaned back against the desk and crossed his arms watching Heydrich. Heydrich sighed.
"Well from what I know, he's not quite human anymore, more like half machine. He still has human emotion. He's returned to help Germany. He's an occultist, like Himmler."
"This is incredible." Hitler said still a little skeptical.
"Oh believe us it's true." Destina said. "You see Kroenen is like me. I died in the 16th century. I now serve him and am here to warn you and all the other leaders of your country. Being that Kroenen is from this time period I don't understand everything myself, but he doesn't look like you or me." She looked over to Halle and Heydrich for confirmation on that. Halle and Heydrich were in agreement. Hearing this just added another spark of amazement to Hitler's already growing bewilderment.
"I'm reincarnated from this time period." Halle added to the unbelievable things. "It's all the truth." Heydrich finished.
"Indeed. Himmler actually has something so don't disregard him." Destina said. "But since Kroenen is a machine he does not look like any of us at all. His face is iron and green. So long as he wears his entire uniform that is the only noticeable difference about him." She said. Hitler just stared a moment. This was so outrageous.
"Why is it my dear that both times you have visited me you have brought me the strangest news. Alright, so this reanimated, robotic corpse saved you and is here to help us all?"
Heydrich nodded. "Jawohl mein Führer."
Destina smiled. "I do believe he deserves recognition. It's because of him that I came to warn you earlier. If we do award him it would have to be in such a way that few could see him or it would never work." Hitler stood up pushing away from his desk.
"Alright. Perhaps it's best I meet this Kroenen first." Destina looked up as a warm feeling came over her.
"He's returned."
Heydrich slightly grinned. "First I suppose we should find him. Then I'll see how we can get him to the ceremony."
"I agree. And don't worry about people seeing his face. I can have the tallest stage built you've ever seen and no one would see what he looks like." Hitler said excitedly. Destina laughed a little at that. Halle spoke up.
"Is this going to be anything like those incredibly huge rallies?" she said with a glint in her eyes.
"What other kind is there??" Hilter said with a smile. She did a heel click.
"Ahh! I love those. Will I be with Heydrich?" she asked, feeling her face turn a red after saying it. Destina smiled knowing what was going on.
"Don't worry, we'll all be there even Sahel." She said.
"Who?" Hitler asked.
"Don't worry, you'll meet him when you meet Kroenen. The three of us are usually together." Responded Destina. Halle smiled. Heydrich seemed to notice something was going on with her and him.
"Kroenen is very close to us. We could find him now if you wish." Destina said looking at the others.
"Just don't tell him. It would be a good surprise." Heydrich said, grinning.

Destina left very quickly. She ran into the street and had no trouble finding Kroenen and Sahel.
"Kroenen," She said slightly out of breath. "It's so good to see you whole again."
He stared at her with his emotionless eyes a moment.
"We have much to do still." He said. She smiled at him.
"I know, but first Heydrich would like to speak with you one last time. He's very concerned about you."
Heydrich took a seat in Hitler's office. Halle, a bit uneasy, was standing by Heydrich's chair. By now Hitler had returned to his own office to finish up the tons of paperwork he always had and left the two alone. Outside Destina led the way. When they arrived at the Reichskanzlei Kroenen stopped short. He gazed at the building and looked up at its windows a good while. He almost looked nervous.
"Heydrich is in there?" He paused again. "I can't go in there. It's too risky. I might be seen."
Halle looked at Heydrich for a while. He started to fall asleep in the silence. He had been through so much it was no wonder he was exhausted. "Ahh.. I want to just tell him what I think but that would be just a bit odd." She thought, continuing to stare at Heydrich, who had drifted off for a short nap
Destina looked at Kroenen.
"But you must! He insisted." She said grabbing Kroenen's wrist. Sahel stepped forward. "If he says he can not go then he will not go!" Destina glared hard with her bright green eyes into Sahel's poisonus yellow ones.
"It won't TAKE LONG. Besides the young girl wants to see you too. She only saw you when you were hurt." Destina insisted.
"Enough!" Kroenen said to them both. Again he lifted his collar over his cheeks trying to hide his face.
"If Heydrich wishes to see me one last time then so be it. I will obey but I shall not stay long. Destina, walk before me incase anyone shows up. Sahel, stay behind me."
The three walked up to the door and entered in a line. Heydrich's head lolled a bit when he went limp from falling asleep. He began to fall but caught himself and woke up. Destina entered into the elegant waiting room first followed by Kroenen and then Sahel. This was the first time Halle had seen him stand on his own. She smiled.
"Its good to see you're okay."
Kroenen cocked his head as he fixed his dark round eyes on her.
"Thank you for your help. I shall help you return to your time. I see Mein Herr has had a trying experience as well."
Halle he gasped.
"Do I have to go back? I mean, is it necessary? I'd like to stay a member of the German Reich, and in the SD." And with Heydrich she thought.
"You will have to return but not just yet. You will return to the point you were taken from so it shall be as if you never left. I cannot let you stay." He looked over at Heydrich. Heydrich somewhat looked upset at the thought, but shook it off so he wouldn't look too emotional.
"Okay I understand." Halle said looking at Heydrich.

Tired of working so long Hitler stood and went to check on the two. He opened the door and found the room now had five people. Kroenen whipped his head up. A surge of emotions rushed through him when he saw his Führer standing in the doorway. At first he wished he hadn't been spotted. He became worried and nervous. Then joy went through him. It was such an honor to stand in his presence. He rapidly stood to attention and saluted.
"HEIL HITLER!!" He was as stiff as a statue. Destina and Sahel just watched. They knew this was important to him though they could never understand on what level. For them it was hard to believe that he still followed these humans when he was so much more powerful than they were. Hitler tried to salute back but it came out more as a faint wave of his hand as he stared at the frightening look of Kroenen. Heydrich saw the look on Hitler's face. He wanted to say something, but he figured that Hitler could handle the situation. Hitler stepped closer examining Kroenen's iron face.
"So this was the one that they had been referring too. He almost didn't seem real yet here he was a living machine. So you are real." He said but mostly to himself. Kroenen lowered his arm and stood at attention.
"How may I serve you Mein Führer?" Kroenen said. Hitler walked around him just staring in awe.
"I'm glad you are on our side. I have heard amazing things about you Karl Kroenen." He stopped when he noticed Sahel staring at him. That man was equally as frightening as Kroenen. Hitler looked over to Heydrich still not sure what to make of the new stranger. "Is this the...person that saved you?" He asked. Heydrich nodded.
"Yes. Twice, once in a bombing, and another was the assassination."
Kroenen looked about between the two nervously. What was going on? Hitler's surprise turned into a smile and he looked at Kroenen.
"Amazing! Alright, in that case then follow me!" Kroenen felt a surge run through him. What was all this about? Heydrich grinned. He could tell the tension from before was, and was glad it had been broken.

Kroenen and the other two followed him up a corridor to a winding flight of stairs. Destina tried to keep from smiling so much. Only she of the three knew what was going on. Sahel was completely unaware and just watching out for any trouble. Heydrich took Halle down to his car. He had to get to the Rally and take his seat. He ordered the oberscharführer to drive, and they took off. The higher and higher they climbed up the stairs the more and more a strange noise seemed to grow just outside. Kroenen who was very sensitive to sounds noticed it first. Was there a crowd outside? He wondered if he'd done something wrong. There could be nothing worse than upsetting the Führer. Heydrich and Halle made their way up to a less crowded place near the stage; it was where they could easily access the stage. At last they reached a door. Hitler took the knob in his hand and paused. He looked back at the anxious trio then turned the handle and nodded with his head for them to follow him out. The moment he stepped out the sound was like that of a deafening explosion. A multitude of thousands upon thousands of people stood up cheering and applauding. Heydrich saw the door open. He clapped and Halle cheered as they came out. Kroenen couldn't believe it. He was so high up and looking at all those people. He tried to turn away. Hitler raised his arms silencing the masses.
"People of Germany all Heil your glorious Führer!" Hitler said as he raised his hand in the salute. The crowd including Heydrich and Halle all saluted Hitler, and said "HEIL HITLER!" in unison. Hitler smiled and continued.
"I am here to tell you of our latest triumphs! Because we are superior, the war is already won for us! Our unstoppable forces are pushing out east, south and all directions. There is no need to despair. When it seems that we are in our darkest hour that is when we shall rise. WE SHALL RISE like a phoenix from the ashes burning and scalding our nemesis into oblivion!!" He threw his hands in the air motioning everyone to do so. "RISE!!! WE SHALL RISE!! SIEG HEIL!!!"
The crowd erupted in shouts of "HEIL!" and they stood and saluted.
"YES. Yes know that we have allies on our side that won't let us loose the war. In the end we will march into our grand and much deserved victory were we shall take our place as kings of the Earth. Any that dare to oppose us shall be crush underfoot like worthless cockroaches as was recently done."
Kroenen felt proud to be there though he had his back turned to everyone. He had no idea what he was doing up there. He just wanted to leave.
"Yes my dear countrymen! One of our own had an assassination attempt on his life." The crowd gasped and Hitler waited for them to regain their composure. Heydrich was rather amused by that and chuckled.
"But do not fear." Hitler continued. "Our very own Reinhard Heydrich was not taken by these infidels! It was not part of the great will!! Thanks to the efforts of a very brave and loyal officer his life was saved not once, but twice showing that we are on the path TO VICTORY!!"
Kroenen slowly turned and stared at Hitler. A cold feeling came over him not believing what he had just heard. Heydrich grinned; Halle had the urge to give Heydrich a hug but didn't. She was in the SD now so she just poked his hand and smiled at him.
"Thanks to the courage and sacrifice of Karl Kroenen..." Hitler reached over grabbed Kroenen by the shoulder and drew him into the spotlight noting his unusual weight. "…your Obergruppenführer was saved. A strong Heil for Kroenen!!"
Kroenen was so nervous he tried to sneak off the stage but Hitler wouldn't let him go. This was the last thing he needed. He was not supposed to have been seen by ANYONE. He tried to pull away and hide his face, but Hitler would have none of it.
"I would like to call Reinhard Heydrich up now to tell the story from his own point of view." He said as he pointed down at him.

Heydrich stood up, and went up to speak. He wasn't great at making speeches. He began to tell the story.
"The morning of 27th of May, I was leaving for Berlin to meet with our Führer, and was unaware that my life was in any danger. There were two Czechoslovakian Resistance Fighters, when I got to the turn at Kirchmayerstrße. One armed with a Sten, the other with a bomb, ambushed my car. The first, with the gun, had fired, but the gun had jammed." He paused momentarily, thinking of the stupidity of the oberscharführer Klein, the driver, and decided not to mention it. "Kroenen had seen him, and eliminated him first. The second, seeing there was a problem, had pulled out the bomb, activated it and threw it at my car. I had just drawn my Luger, a bit delayed, but then Kroenen came to help again, and told the Oberscharführer Klein to get away, and eliminated the second one. Tragically, the bomb then blew up, sending him about a meter away, and he was injured." He finished.
Sahel turned to Destina and gave her a nasty glare through thinned eyes.
"You KNEW about this didn't you?" He said in a growl.
"Oh please, Sahel. Kroenen loves this. It means a lot to him." She said. Sahel looked back then at Destina.
"He doesn't seem to be loving it." She put her hand up to her lips when she saw Heydrich go up.
"Shhh!" She said to him.
"After, Kroenen had told me to get out of there; there were more resistance fighters coming. I went back to Berlin as fast as possible, and found the newest member of the SD Halle, to help me save Kroenen from those resistance fighters." He gave a gesture for her to come up and show herself for a second. She did so, and the crowed suddenly started to whisper; they were a bit shocked to see a girl in Heydrich's SD. They stopped, and she walked to the back part of the stage.
"She was normal when I had met her, but I had taken her back to Prague with me to save Kroenen. Untrained, she followed me in, and we eventually got to them in the back. The doctors were trying to experiment on him, but she had found the right door, and we interrogated them, then eliminated them." Heydrich finished up. Hitler held his head not believing what Heydrich had done. He wanted to keep the fact that he'd allowed a girl into the SD under wraps and now Heydrich had just told the whole nation about it. Well perhaps he could make everyone forget about with his charisma. He'd been away from the mic too long.
"Yes, well thank you very much Heydrich" He said shoving him off the stage. "So I have called you all here to honor the valor of this man. This man who fought for Germany. Remember when you fight for Germany you are fighting for your Führer. To fight for your country is to fight for me and to defend your fellow man is a true sign of honor. For this I wish to award Kroenen for his loyalty, bravery and selflessness. With him on our side we are assured victory." He motioned for Kroenen to come. He had no choice but to step up as the Führer placed a medal around his neck. He felt proud and it was such an honor to have his bestowed on him. "SIEG HEIL!!!" Hitler yelled.
The crowd erupted louder than last time. It was deafening. Heydrich and Halle saluted along with the crowd. The trio were amazed at how the Führer had such powerful command of the crowd. They were all saluting him as well. Hitler nodded in a form of bow and walked off the stage. Kroenen looked at Heydrich and followed him off as well. He was speechless. Heydrich grinned and did a slight bow, meaning 'thank you, again'. Halle did the same, but had a large grin, because she was glad Heydrich was okay thanks to Kroenen. Hitler waited for everyone to come back down. He was laughing slightly and when they had all gathered he slapped Kroenen on the back.
"You thought something bad was going to happen didn't you?"
"So, you like your medal? You deserved it." Heydrich said. Kroenen nodded.
"It is such an honor to have received this and served you both, but I must confess that I am concerned about so many people having seen me."
"Don't worry. Hitler said. "No one saw you. That platform was so high you looked like a stick figure. Believe me I know."
"So what now? Party? Banquet? Conference?" Halle said, nudging Heydrich when she said conference. Heydrich stared a bit.
"How did you know about the conference? What was discussed there was never supposed to leave that room." He looked nervous. Hitler and Goering told him not to bring it up after it was over. Hitler raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms stepping closer to them. Kroenen cocked his head.
"Wellll, Himmler is right about reincarnation. I'm your reincarnation." Halle said. Heydrich was shocked. "Tell me the whole story later. I think later would be easier for me to understand. Right now I should let this sink in here. Reincarnation of me?" Now it made sense why she was so much like him. She was his future self. He looked nervous as Hitler stepped closer.
"It is true. That is who she is." Kroenen said. "We all come from what most on earth call Hell. Once we are done with our mission here though Halle will have to return. In time travel one must not meet one's self, even if it is your past life self."
"This is still so unbelievable." Hitler said narrowing his dark eyes on them all. His hair fell into his face and he brushed it away. "So is that what you are too? A reincarnation of yourself?" He asked Kroenen.
"In a sense though my name never changed." Kroenen's eyes flashed. Fun and games were over he and the others still had much work to do. "Again it has been an honor but we must go. There are others that are still in need of our help. The war isn't won yet." The three of them turned and left ready for their next mission.
