Kroenen
In Mortal Kombat?
The Kroenen
in the movie was basically redesigned by Guillermo Del Toro from
the comic version. My Finance and I were wondering where he came
up with the idea and then we realized it. Actually he realized
it. The final battle mask looks just WAY too much like Kabal from
Mortal Kombat 3. It's interesting because Kabal was my second
favorite character in that game. Stryker was my first and I was
equally as good with either, but having been YEARS since I'd played
MK3 I had forgotten a lot about him. I thought I remembered him
even having similar swords but I wasn't sure. "Hum, baby
what weapons did Kabal have?" I asked. He responded, "Possibly
swords. Uh oh time to break out the MK3!" Well look below
to see what I found out.
This
is the mask Kroenen used in the final battle. I wondered why it
looks so familiar.

Everyone,
meet Kabal. Doesn't he have a nice mask?
Here
is a much nicer view of his mask.
Oh
my I was right. Look at those swords!!! Don't they look familiar?
Straighten out the tips and give them only one wooden handle and
you've got Kroenen's blades.
Here's
another view of his swords. But wait there's more!!!
Mortal
Kombat had fatalities and in Kabal's fatality he took off his
mask revealing a cut up messed up looking face. The clues just
keep on pilling up!!
Well
since I showed his fatality I had to show Kabal's friendship as
well. He places a giant marshmellow on his sword and roasts it
in front of his defeated foe. I'd love to see Kroenen do something
like that.
Here's
Kabal with a bunch of dynamite strapped to his chest. Ok, there's
no reason for this picture except for the fact that I like hurting
my favorite characters and my two favorite MK3 characters are
in this pic together.
So
after all this evidence I think you will agree with me that Del
Toro HAD to have gotten his ideas from Kabal. There's just way
too many similarities for it to have been coincidence.
