THE STEVIE TRIOLOGY--
One of the best Knight Rider story arcs of the series is the rise and fall of Stephanie Mason, who was Michael Long's fiancee before he got shot. In Whitebird, we see Michael agonize and feel the guilt of leaving Stevie and never telling her that he was still alive. The locket at the end indicated to fans that Stephanie new that her fiancee was alive and well. In Let It Be Me, Michael exerts as much influence on Stevie as he can, but in the end, Stevie lets it be known that she wants to be with him but only if he is ready to leave the foundation. In Scent of Roses, Michael makes that final choice to leave, only to lose Stephanie to a gun man's bullet. The Stevie Triology is credible not just because of the story arc, but what was going on in real life. After Whitebird, Hasselhoff started falling in love with Catherine Hickland. Mouth of the Snake was filmed mostly without David so they could have a little time on their honeymoon to spend. From many sources, the couple loved each other very much. David speaks highly of his first marriage. "I was still growing up, but Catherine understood how much I loved her," David said in a 1984 interview in Starlog Magazine. It was Hasselhoff who got the writers to consider the episodes Let It Be Me(mainly for the promotional use of his Night Rocker album) and Scent of Roses. To many fans disappointment, Stevie never made a third season appearence. BEHIND THE SCENES has been informed that Catherine Hickland was doing various other projects which conflicted with the Knight Rider filming schedule during the 84-85 season. On another BEHIND THE SCENES note, Catherine Hickland and David Hasselhoff divorced in 1987. Catherine Hickland though never forgot Michael Knight. She is currently married to him(Tad on ALL MY CHILDREN).
